Episode 6x14 / Bad Twin
« on: May 12, 2010, 12:31:33 AM »
When a pregnant woman washed up on the beach, I yelled at my TV, "I know you're carrying twins!"
I was hoping to validate this prediction from 2006:,3101.msg127563.html#msg127563

Also, for those who aren't aware, "Bad Twin" is a Lost tie-in novel which was supposedly written by an 815 passenger and has some relation to Hanso and all that.  I believe that TPTB have distanced themselves from the book.

All I'm saying is I KNEW they were twins!

I didn't see how "he took my body"...good surprise.

Season 6 / Deals with the Devil
« on: April 15, 2010, 11:04:55 AM »
First off, I'm not suggesting it's as simple as that.  MiB is not really Satan, and the characters we see in the sideways timeline did not meet him at the crossroads and sign a contract in blood to be rock stars.

However, it's hard to deny that for most of the characters who would have appeared in Earth-X so far, one particular crucial aspect of their life will have changed for the better:

- Dogun: his revelation introduced the idea, though he said it was Jacob who told him his son would live.
- Ben: Alex lives and he has the opportunity to mentor her
- Hurley: without the bad luck/curse
- Sayid: Nadia lives
- Sawyer: the opposite of a con man
- Desmond: has the respect of Widmore.
- Miles: knows his father

- The Kwons: not married...not sure what else?
- Jack: a good father, but what else?
- Kate: her deal is yet to be revealed?
- Locke: back with Helen (though it would seem he didn't have the opportunity to strike a deal before being killed)

I'm not saying that MiB will have approached each of these people and offered them their one desire if they would cooperate with his plans.  It's just that a world exists, put into existence by The Reset, where (for many of the characters...but not all) their biggest life bummer is removed.

I speculate that this sideways world is a place where these burdens were never laid upon The Island.

Episode 6x08 / The dagger
« on: March 23, 2010, 11:41:30 PM »
That looks like the knife of a Roman soldier.  I can't attach images at this time, but google "Roman soldier dagger" and they're all of similar design.

It is the god-sticker of The Enlightened.

Episode 6x07 / You have the description of this episode wrong

Under "Child Boards" where the episodes are listed, this one is described thusly:

Episode 6x07, "Dr. Linus" airs 3/16/10.

Season 6 / The Other "Others" aka Nothers
« on: February 11, 2010, 10:33:09 PM »
It was Season 3, episode 1 [A Tale of Two Cities] when I posted this comment:

I just want to go on record as referring to Benry, et al as "Others" and the separate faction (which may or may not be a group of hillbilly types) as "Nothers" in "there's a whole 'nother contingent of islanders here".

Potential membership of the 'nothers:

- Rousseau (x)
- escapees from Other's camp (x)
- original DHARMA staff (x)
- (my hope) natives predating D.I. such as descendants of Black Rock slaves

Keep in mind that we hardly knew anything about the Others at this point.  We had just been introduced the The Hydra.

I didn't just post this to brag on myself (ok...mostly), I did this to re-propose referring to the Temple folks as Nothers.  While I'm sure they have some kind of relationship with the Others who lived in the Barracks, this is surely a "nother" contingent.

Episode 6x02 / The Dogun were like hatches in Dark Tower

I heard there was going to be a character with this name, didn't want to spoil.

I'll add this to my list of 50 Tower tie-ins.

Episode 6x01 / Why didn't Jacob fight back?

For the same reason that Obi Wan didn't.

If you strike him down, he will become more powerful than you can possibly imagine.

Episode 5x16 / What I said about Jacob and Esau
« on: May 14, 2009, 05:40:40 PM »
As soon as Jacob's name was mentioned in Season 3:

TPTB stated that (every?) name is important.  Rather than go through every possible implication of the character being named after the Biblical Jacob, here's a few:

- One of twins.  Esau was the "bad twin".
- The name Jacob means "holds the heel", because his was so gripping Esau who came out first
- Jacob had the vision of the ladder leading to Heaven
- Jacob wrestled an angel to a draw
- The 12 sons represent the 12 tribes of Israel (his new name Israel given after wrasslin the angel...means "Struggled with God")
- His son Joseph (number 11 out of 12) was an interpreter of dreams
- His other son (number 12 out of 12) was named Benjamin

I believe that Jacob and Esau answer to an even higher authority.  They battle over the birthright.  Esau uses deception (The Long Con) and Jacob uses free will.

When he whispers "they're coming", he's not talking about an army of men.  He means the mothership.

Episode 5x11 / What happens to Ben in The Temple
« on: April 02, 2009, 03:23:57 PM »
All will have been revealed to him.

He sees everything that will have happened to him from the point he enters The Temple until The End.  This will enable Ben's foreseeing super power as speculated in 2007:
Ben is strong with the force.  He is probably the best trained operative.  I speculate that he can whisper to himself from the future and influence his past self with the benefit of advance knowledge.

Close to the mark here...we'll see how it turns out.

Ben's innocence is lost because his Hostile/Other/Enlightened timespanning life begins at age 12 and he is able to know at once everything that will have been happening (like Dr. Manhattan...a certified TPTB influence).  As I have been championing all along, he'll know that he must get captured by Rousseau->torture->sprung by Michael->operated on by Jack->etc and he'll know what always will have been happening.  This is why he's always in the right place and always knows what to do.

As for why he'll forget what happened...we don't know for sure that he'll have a complete data wipe of his entire childhood just based on Richard's cryptic statement.  He may only forget the last few days or whatever.  I have a feeling he'll still remember that his birth killed his mom (therefore setting him on that pesky figure-out-the-birth-problem-on-The-Island bent), but that may be because his dad never lets him forget it.  Richard will probably debrief him after The Temple gets done with him so that he can rejoin DHARMA without too much confusion or questioning by the D.I.

- We needn't concern ourselves with whether or not Ben recognized Sayid while being tortured in The Swan.
- None of The Losties are directly responsible for Ben's later actions, other than the fact that their presence caused him to get shot.
- It's all Richard's fault.
- If Jack HAD saved him, he may never have become evil Ben, but that's not what happened (happened).

Seriously, though...

I'll bet it was during Sayid's sugar cube freak-out that he had a warrior's vision about what he needed to do to Ben.

(...and my other brother Darryl)

Episode 5x09 / The implications of young Ben with Sayid at the cell
« on: March 19, 2009, 02:04:15 PM »
The biggest one imo is that years later, they would be in reverse positions.

The difference is that Sayid will have no idea who this Henry Gale character is, but Ben will know EXACTLY who Sayid is.  He will surely be remembering the Iraqi prisoner from his youth.  Of course, he probably also will have been remembering "Jim", Kate, Jack, Hurley (the ones on The List!) and will be actively recruiting Juliet.  He'll will have been taking particular interest in Locke after whatever we're going to see that has been happening between young Ben and future ghost John.

I take special delight in using the "time travel tense" of verbs...such as "he will have been doing such-and-such in the past/future".
