« on: July 08, 2010, 10:29:23 AM »
A lot of love for LOST with this year's Emmy nominations!

The highlights:
- Best drama series
- Matthew Fox, lead actor
- Michael Emerson, supporting actor
- Terry O'Quinn, supporting actor
- Elizabeth Mitchell, guest actress
- Jack Bender, best directing (The End)
- Damon Lindelof & Carlton Cuse, best writing (The End)
- Michael Giacchino, best original musical score

Other nominations included Sound Editing, Sound Mixing, Art Direction, Single-Camera Picture Editing, and Outstanding Special Class Program for the "Dharma Mysteries of the Universe" web series.

I honestly cannot remember this many nominations for the show since Season 1, if ever.

Episode 6x13 / Claire left behind again
« on: May 09, 2010, 02:57:03 PM »
I don't think this has been discussed, but I was particularly struck by the fact that Claire was left behind by her "friends" once again, for the 3rd time - Sawyer shut the door to the sub before she could come in.  And while she knows that MiB did not want her to die on the sub (supposedly), she still has to realize that Sawyer chose not to bring her.  This is the same choice that was made when Sawyer, Jack, Kate and Hurley left MiB's camp to steal the boat, and in Claire's eyes it is the same choice that was made when the Oceanic 6 left on the freighter.

I have hoped that Claire's character will be "saved" from the darkness and make it off the Island to reunite with Aaron, but I am now fearing that she is a lost cause, if only because she does not trust her former friends and will either turn on them or choose not to follow them in the end.

Anyone have any thoughts?

General Spoiler Talk / Another Former Regular Possibly Returning

Looks like Adewale has made amends with his character and is open to the idea of returning for Season 6 in some form.  Alive?  Ghost?  Flashback?  Who knows?!  I know for one thing, none of us were happy that we lost Mr. Eko so soon!

Not sure if anyone's been to this, but evidently it's a site with trivia games.  It's got two good Lost trivia games:

Guess Sawyer's nicknames in 3 minutes

And the best of all, name all Lost episodes in 20 minutes

Naming the episodes was wayyy harder than I thought - I gave up since I was totally have brain freezes, so I'm going to try again tomorrow.  Let me know how you all do!

Episode 5x15 / Going to kill Jacob

So Locke says he's going to kill Jacob. Wow! Why? Did the Island tell him to?

Episode 5x11 / "To find your daughter."

I have to say, when Kate said that to Claire's mom, I almost started bawling like a baby!

Season 4 / Emmy's 2008 - Lost Nominations
« on: July 20, 2008, 11:12:37 PM »
Not sure if you guys saw this, but Lost was nominated for 8 Emmy's this year:

- Best drama series
- Michael Emerson for best supporting actor
- John Bartley for cinematography ("The Constant")
- Michael Giacchino for musical composition
- Single camera picture editing ("There's No Place Like Home" Part 2 & 3)
- Sound editing ("The Shape of Things to Come")
- Sound mixing ("Meet Kevin Johnson")
- Outstanding Special Class - short format Live-action entertainment (for Lost: Missing Pieces)

So what do you think?  Do they re-gain the Best Drama crown?  Does Michael Emerson get any love as best supporting actor?  I'm quite biased, but I thought Emerson was phenomenal this year.  This season seemed to be much more critically acclaimed, so I wouldn't be shocked if he won.

The one real snub I can think of is I thought for sure Cuse & Lindeloff would be nominated for best drama writing for "The Constant."

Anyone watch this show on Sci Fi?  I got hooked a few months ago.  The season premiere is tonight.  I enjoy it - the people in the group take a scientific approach to searching for paranormal activity, which I appreciate.  There were a couple episodes where the stuff they found sent chills down my spine.  I would definitely recommend it!
