Episode 6x08 / Biblical References
« on: March 24, 2010, 11:24:51 AM »
this episode was SOOO full of Biblical references, i wanted to put a few of my thoughts out there, and didn't find the appropriate thread, so here goes:

Not only do we see the Biblical reference regarding the semi-baptism of Richard, and his "resurrection" afterwards, but also in many other ways.  The cross, which was so important to him, the Bible, that he was using to teach himself english (and like someone said earlier, he had to have known it very well in spanish to be able to figure out the english translation).  But how about Jacob & MIB?  That's the biggie.

Jacob is the good guy, MIB the bad guy.  good & evil.  black & white.  Jacob is like God (over the island).  He is ultimately in control of EVERYTHING.  He has the power to keep MIB on the island, he has the power to bring people to the island, he is omnicient.  Don't get me wrong, MIB is powerful too.  Much like the devil (on the island).  He is very pursuasive, able to convince people of his ways, and "infect" them, much like the devil can convince people to do his bidding.  That doesn't mean Jacob is NOT powerful over these people, he just allowes FREE WILL (like God).  He is allowing whomever he wants to come to the island (in hopes to convince MIB he is wrong).  Once the get to the island, it's their CHOICE as to which way to go.  They have no past when they come to the island (much like when you receive your salvation as a Christian, your slate is wiped clean).  They are given a second chance, a re-birth, sound like a baptisim anyone?

Anyway, I just had to put that out there.  I know there will probably be many arguments against it.  These are my observations.  There have been MANY MANY other Biblical references, and even parallels throughout this whole series, so before you go debunking everything I wrote, remember all of them as well.  I have a lot more backing than just this one little episode.

Episode 6x05 / Questions Answered
« on: March 02, 2010, 11:04:02 PM »
With only a few more episodes left, we're supposed to be getting answers.  I'm not seeing the answers, so I thought I would see if anyone else caught any.

I'm going to try and start a new thread every episode, just so we can keep up with questions answered each episode.

Episode 6x05 / Sayid: Evil? ALSO MIB?
« on: March 02, 2010, 11:00:13 PM »
sayid has gone to the dark side.  so does that mean that smokey can infest multiple people?[/color[

Episode 6x01 / Ash Ring
« on: February 03, 2010, 12:55:42 AM »
so, we now know that the ash ring is to keep out smokey/ protect whomever is in it right?  well, what about when the ring was around the cabin.  christian was INSIDE.  so if christian was smokey, how did he get there?  and how did he get out?  if smokey wasn't christian, then was that real christian?  or maybe a manifestation of jacob?

Episode 6x01 / Answers?
« on: February 03, 2010, 12:24:00 AM »
This season is the season of answers.  We have lots and lots of questions, and supposedly this year we are supposed to get ALL the answers.

All I got tonight was a headache.  And more questions.

Are there some actual answers that I missed?

if we had a previous topic I couldn't find it, so here's a new one.

Anyone watching?

I'm behind an episode, it's just hanging out on the dvr right now.

I love this show.  After working in the restaurant business through college and after, I can appreciate much of it.  What I don't get is the people who go on here and it's like they've never seen an episode and don't have any idea what to expect from Chef Ramsey.  I mean, really.  Don't flip out when he call's you a donkey, or a cow, or anything else for that matter.  Just move on and do your job.  lol.

Episode 5x04 / Wooden Boats timeline
« on: February 05, 2009, 11:01:02 AM »
Okay, this is what has me stumped, well, along with most other things Lost related.

The losties jumped to a time when the beach camp was destroyed, it HAD been there, but was now demolished, hence it's after 2004 sometime, and there were wooden boats on the beach.

when was it?  i've been holding to the theory that they can't jump FOREWARD, only backward, but this one has me stumped.  could it have been after the shootout on the camp (when hurley vw'd the others) and before they got off the island?

what am i missing?

TV & Movies / The Principal's Office

this thread may get 0 replies, but i have to ask.  Have any of you seen this show on tru tv?  It's a riot.  I don't know how funny it would be for people not in education, but for those of us who are, it's quite relatable.

Since it seems that we're always discussing the weather (well, when it's not lost, or spatulas) I thought I'd start a weather thread.

Discuss away.....

I'd forgotten how funny this show was.  It's great to have a good comedy in the lineup.

Oh, and a shoutout to lost doesn't hurt!

TV & Movies / Olympics
« on: August 12, 2008, 09:55:12 AM »
I figure, I'll put the topic in here since it is on TV.

Anyway, I just wanted to make a centralized place for us to post our thoughts about the olympics.

I'm addicted.  It's aweful.  But I will say, there's no other way to watch than with a DVR, what did we do before them

Websites / Freecycle
« on: May 29, 2008, 09:24:46 AM »
Has anyone tried freecycle?  I've joined a local group through yahoo groups.  I haven't posted anything yet, but it looks really interesting.  It goes to show that one person's junk really is someone else's treasure.

here's a link to the main site:

from there you can find a group in your area, it looks like most of them are through yahoo groups.
