Episode 6x16 / Perfect Symmetry: The End and The Beginning
« on: May 29, 2010, 08:22:06 PM »
Well part of what we loved about the final scene of Lost was it's symmetry with the very first scene of Lost. I found this badass video that shows just how good of a job the editors did in recreating that first scene, only in reverse.

Episode 6x16 / Lost Clone: More mythology than characters
« on: May 27, 2010, 03:46:33 PM »
God bless late night television. I came across a movie, and I couldn't help but be reminded of LOST. This thing was about a mysterious Island with time warps, hatches, elemental monsters, monsters that take the form of loved ones, mysterious natives, struggle between good and evil, ancient ruins, etc.

Even though it had all these similar story elements, the main difference was that the main characters were pathetically bland. There was no depth to them at all, as opposed to the character driven Lost. Let me tell you, this movie.....suuuuuuucked. So, I liked the mythology of Lost just as much as anyone else, but after seeing this movie, I really understood that what kept my interest in Lost for so many years wasn't just the mysteries, it was because I cared about the characters.

If you ever get a chance, the movie is called "Escape from Atlantis" made in like 1997 I think.

Episode 6x16 / The Official "Pat yourself on the back" Thread
« on: May 24, 2010, 11:35:36 PM »
Well alot of us made alot of predictions, which means alot of us were wrong....alot. I know I was wrong more often than not (Richard and Frank are totally dead *cough*), however, that just meant I was surprised more often.

But hey, even a blind squirrel finds an occasional nut. So, did you make a cool predicition that turned out right? Time to pat yourself on the back and post it. I'll be the jerk that gets the ball rolling.

I like my unoriginal, vague, and fairly predictable theory after watching LA X for the first time way back in February.

The alternate universe thing is definitely something that makes my head explode like in that movie Scanners. I love it!

However, I know it's been said before, I'm thinking we may be getting a flashfoward glimpse into how the show eventually ends. Lets not forget, when they were first doing the flashforwards, we all thought they were more flashbacks, until that amazing kick ass scene of Jack and Kate at the airport in the season 3 finale. (either 3 or 4) "We have to go back, Kate!!"

I wouldn't put it past TPTB to be tricking the audience yet again and be giving us a glimpse at how the show itself wraps up. Maybe they find the real reset later on this season and the side flashes are really just a flashforward to that reset.

I got close.

Episode 6x16 / Not just extra 30, but extra 50 minutes!
« on: May 20, 2010, 04:10:54 PM »
Just read somewhere, and you all may know this already, but in addition to the extra half hour we are getting in the series finale on Sunday, there will be an EXTRA 20 MINUTES on top of that.

The catch, you ask? It will only be on the DVD. Looks like we may get a few more answers when the DVD comes out.

Episode 6x15 / Jack's Cut - Speculation
« on: May 19, 2010, 04:56:57 AM »
OK, we get another shot of Jack looking at a mysterious cut on his neck. In the immortal words of Star Wars, "I have a bad feeling about this."

Is this some sort of foreshadowing of the fate of Jack? We were purposefully reminded of this cut we saw in LA X. Also, I'm sure alot of us have read the article that Damon wrote about how he would have killed off Harry Potter. Double also, we still have 3 candidates left and plenty of time, so maybe there will be yet another replacement after Jack dies.

Since we only have a few days left to speculate...anyone have any ideas?

Episode 6x14 / Is MIB dead or Smokey?
« on: May 13, 2010, 12:03:21 AM »
There seems to be a bit of debate on this idea, so I thought it would be cool to put it to a poll, and I guess collect the debate into one place.

1 school of thought seems to be that since we saw MIB's body, that means he is dead. The Smoke Monster is not MIB, but only uses his form occasionally. Plain and simple.

The other school of thought is that since Jacob could not kill MIB, then there is no way for MIB to die at that moment, so if he didn't die, then he must of changed into, or become part of Smokey.

Personally, I'm in the metamorphasis camp. As a bit of foreshadowing evidence, I'd like to remind people of this thread that was started back in Ab Aeterno titled Butterfly

Thank you for voting, and putting in your 2 cents.

Episode 6x16 / Best LOST Memory
« on: April 14, 2010, 08:07:44 PM »
Let the nostalgia begin. Figured this would be a fitting place for some reminiscing and commiserating.

So what is your favorite LOST moment or memory?

Episode 6x11 / Was Michael the MIB?
« on: April 14, 2010, 07:46:21 PM »
First, let me say I think the answer is no. However, we know Locke has wanted and needed to get all the candidates together. Then Michael *poof* shows up and tells Hurley to 1) don't blow up the plane, and 2) march everyone over to Locke.

If it wasn't MIB (and I could think of a half dozen reasons why its not) then he sure as hell was doing exactly what MIB would have done.

Any thoughts?

LOST Talk / Read your old posts
« on: April 13, 2010, 05:04:55 PM »
For sh*ts and giggles, I went back and read some of my older posts from previous seasons. Had some pretty hair-brain ideas, also a few that got close to the mark. I kind of wanted to start a thread for people to put down their awesome predicitions that came true as well as your facepalm moments.

Even if you don't post anything here, I recommend going back and reading some from previous seasons. Good times.

Episode 6x10 / Easter Eggs & Cool Moments
« on: April 07, 2010, 04:13:35 AM »
OK, this episode had sooooo many moments for us. Not all of them were lines of dialogue, but there were a number of times that made me cheer. What were some of your favorite moments or cool Easter eggs?

I'll get the ball rolling...

- Any time Desmond said, "Brotha"
- Penny at the stadium
- Charles Widmore and Desmond hugging
- The painting in Widmore's office

your turn

Episode 6x10 / Best Lines of the Night
« on: April 07, 2010, 03:30:58 AM »
George: Can I ask you why you need the manifest?
Desmond: I just need to show them something..........LOST

Episode 6x09 / Is Mikhail dead?
« on: March 31, 2010, 03:55:46 AM »
This guy seemed harder to kill than the lovechild of Keith Richards and a cockroach. So, did Sideflash Jin finish him off for good?

Episode 6x09 / "Everyone will cease to be." - Charles Widmore
« on: March 31, 2010, 02:29:32 AM »
When Widmore was talking to Jin, and he mentioned what would happen if Locke makes it off the Island, the way he phrased it struck me. He didn't say everyone would die, or things in the world will get even more evil. He said "everyone we know and love will simply cease to be." Now Widmore may have just been waxing poetic, but it looks like we have a clue.

One possiblity is that the universe, the original timeline will be erased and the sideflash timeline will...take over, so to speak.
Another possiblity is that (and the idea has been mentioned on the forums before) the very act of him leaving will destroy the world kinda like in the movie Dogma.

So do you think it was just a creative way of saying everyone will die, or something much more?

Season 6 / LOST Ritual
« on: March 30, 2010, 04:48:44 PM »
I was curious. We are all pretty fanatic about the greatest show in the history of mankind. I, of course, am speaking of LOST. (bwwwwaaaaaaammmmm)

Do any of you have a ritual for LOST night?

Some of you it may be simply watching it with your laptop next to you, typing away in the Sledgeweb chat room? Or perhaps you meet with friends and compete for the most comfortable chair? Or maybe you put on your favorite LOST apparel, turn off your phone, put the kids in front of the Playstation, and put up the "do not disturb" sign?

Mine is pretty simple, I like to splurge and order a nice seafood dish from a restaurant for take out, let the DVR get about 20mins ahead and try to time the start time so it finishes live after the last commercial break.

So, what is yours? The more outrageous, the better. Remember, you are among friends.

Season 6 / Sideflash Reflections
« on: March 21, 2010, 02:37:21 AM »
Apologies to opgelost. She had already posted practically this exact thing in a different thread.,10597.0.html

I am likely just stating the obvious here, but I wanted to start a thread here to see if this trend continued.

In each sideflash we have seen, one of the main characters spends a moment looking at their reflection. So far:
1. LA X - Jack in the airplane bathroom mirror
2. What Kate Does - Kate in the mechanic's mirror
3. The Substitute - Locke in the shaving mirror before he calls Jack's office
4. The Lighthouse - Jack in the mirror when he checks his scar (thanks BR)
5. Sundown - Sayid in the glass of Nadia's front door
6. Dr. Linus - Ben in the glass microwave door
7. Recon - Sawyer in the lockerroom mirror before he smashes it
8. Ab Aeterno - No Sideflashes.
9. The Package - Sun in the mirror before opening the door for Keamy.
10. Happily Ever After - Desmond in the LAX baggage claim monitor and in the PD glass door.
11. Everybody Loves Hugo - none
12. The Last Recruit - Jack before he begins surgery on Locke.
13. The Candidate - Claire and Jack in the music box mirror.

I don't think it's a clue or anything, just a cool thematic device that TPTB seem to be carrying through each sideflash. In the back of my mind I've noticed it, but I kinda just realized that they did it each and every time so far.
