Star Wars: Episode VII / Re: Episode VII expectations
« on: June 05, 2014, 02:18:09 PM »
I'm reserving judgment on my expectations of this, particularly because I did not criticize the prequels nearly as much as most people did. I think it has the potential to be the best Star Wars yet, but it also could be the worst. Either way, I'll probably still watch it.

Star Wars: Episode VII / Re: Bringing back the original cast..
« on: June 05, 2014, 02:16:34 PM »
I am almost always of the opinion that it is better to bring back old cast members to reprise roles than to attempt to bring in new faces. The character will be portrayed differently if someone else is the actor. That's what acting typically is. The question then remains: do we want to see a Star Wars with a bunch of 60-year-old actors? Or do we want a completely new story altogether?

Forum Feedback / Re: SWLS Layout Changes (FEEDBACK AND POLL!)

Might be an old thread, but we probably could use this for help on things. I noticed that the "Like" button likes a thread, not a particular post. That might be a tad misleading. At least, that's what it looks like unless someone went through and liked every post on all 4700 pages of the Hell/Goodbye thread.

I can vouch that his pants are very much still off.

Game of Thrones / Favorite character(s)
« on: June 03, 2014, 08:14:50 AM »
Game of Thrones has some amazing characters. Who are your favorites and why?

My favorites are:

Arya because of pretty much everything. From "stick em with the pointy end" to her nightly prayer, Arya is an amazing character, especially considering her age in the book.

Jon Snow.  The poor guy can't catch a break despite having a lot handed to him. Up until about book 5, he's one of my absolute favorite sections to read.

Tyrion. Between his wit and his height, Tyrion has one of the largest characters in the book.

There are several more. Who do you guys like?

Four years has been a while.

So to sum up. In August 2010, wifey and I had our first year anniversary. We bought a house, got new cars, another dog. I'm now working for my dad and about ready to probably take over his business in a few years. I'm currently training our new guy that I was instrumental in hiring. Wifey's business is the same, and booming. We have a 19-month old boy who is adorable. See Facebook for about a billion pictures. Online, I call him Chibi.

I started doing Let's Play youtube videos, which basically is a walkthrough of video games with live commentary. I recently got a Youtube Partnership, so I am now making (a very small amount of) money from the vids. I joined another forum (with an emphasis on gaming) where I am a mod of the creative writing section. I somehow am the poster with the second-most posts there. -shrug- It just happens, guys, I swear.

On that forum, there are several role-plays that I'm involved with. Basically, writing a creative story with a large group of people based in a particular setting. The top three that I'm involved with now are based in Persona, Kingdom Hearts, and Mass Effect, respectively. There also have been several original universe settings. These all fall under my Creative Writing modship section.

Since LOST ended, I really haven't found any TV shows that I've followed to the same degree. However, I have been getting more interested in political stuff. Gary and I started a podcast on politics called The Disgruntled Independents. It's full of Gary's unique brand of humor and our collective insight on various political things that are going wrong with the world. I might be biased, but I highly recommend it. We also brought in a female colleague of mine for the last few episodes.

So yeah, no major life-changing events asides from a kid. The kid's kinda a cool thing, I guess. :P

Forum Feedback / Re: What shall we do with this place?

If we could put all the LOST stuff together into one section, we could simply have this forum be devoted to discussion of various TV shows. LOST would simply be one of the many sections of discussion. If we archive it, I'd like it to be visible so we could go back and look over the things we discussed previously.

We could rename this from SWLS to simply Sledgeweb's TV Show Forum, or some similar thing. Even just calling it Hall of SledgeWeb would be ok. :P But I do think removing LOST from the title would be more effective at bringing in newbies.

Game of Thrones / Re: Do you love GoT?
« on: June 02, 2014, 11:58:15 AM »
@Cayley, Fargo is amazing. I've only watched three episodes, but I'm hooked.

I read the GoT books, so I know all the spoilers. Also, I don't have HBO, so I'm not up to date (still stuck on Season 2). To be honest, after the first book, I wasn't that fond of the book series. But the TV show has gone above and beyond in recreating the series faithfully and beautifully. I think this is the first time I can honestly say the TV version is even better than the books.

I was just looking for this forum recently to try to show to someone else, and it was gone. Many internet tears were had. So glad it's back in business!
