Episode 4x02 / TalkShoe
« on: February 12, 2008, 07:24:39 PM »
Once again, Dan & I are forced to do our show LIVE on TalkShoe. I'll open the room around 9 tonight and once we're settled in start recording. Just FYI as I like to keep these calls open to the public even though we aren't looking for callers.

Spoiler Theories and Speculation / Light vs Dark
« on: February 12, 2008, 10:57:41 AM »
Locke gives us this bit of exposition in season 1 (the pilot even, no?) and i have always maintained it as THE core theme (ok, no big surprise that the core theme is a struggle between two sides but...)

I believe this Light vs Dark is being played out on every level in this show. Losties vs the Others (and now the new config vs the  Freighties), Hanso vs Widmore and... wait for it... Jacob vs Smokey.

In my now old Ba Sng Se episodes we talked about Atlantis as outline over at and in particular the paper on The True History of Atlantis. In it there are sections about Twins a metaphors for the canonical battle, a la Hercules and Atlas, Castor and Pollux or Seth and Osiris (Egyptian), Ashvin Twins (Hindu). This battle is also characterized as a battle between the sons of Light and Dark or Gods and Devils and, inerestingly, Blonds and Brunettes.

I am of the opinion that Jacob and Smokey are our iconic God and Devil or perhaps there are multiples. Enter Mathew Abaddon...  recent screen caps have some believing they saw smoke when he leaves the psych ward where Hurley was. surely his name alone aligns him with the Devils and I think Smokey but I could be getting fooled on that one.

So... with that in mind I am also of the opinion that various apparitions at various times have been either an agent for light or dark and not just always Smokey.  It is our job to revisit these and try to determine which were which and when.

For instance, Dave. Dave clearly tried to get Hurley to kill himself. I would go out on a limb to say this was the Sons of dark or the Devils to prevent Hurley from playing his role in saving the island from them.

Lets get this party started! Any thoughts on a pervasive theme for this week?

Season 4 / Central Theme

We're back! Kicking it out, I have nothing yet but should by the end of the day. Whatever it is/was I think it is in the Hurley story but probably has more to do with 'the island'.

Theories & Speculation / Podcast

Dan & I will be back fir season 4! In fact I think we will do a very short show to let me poeple and see if we can't generate some community feedback heading into season 4.

The whole really got me excited again.

There is no season 4 forum yet but I want to ask what people are thinking? And remind people that if you need to catch up we have an archive of all of the news items from the whole off season over on the opodcast page and as a google reader / feedburner page.

Can't wait to get back in the saddle.

Episode 3x21 / Central Theme?

Ok gang. As always, at this point I got nothing but I'm sure it's nothing a little more coffee and some dialog in here can't fix.

Episode 3x19 / Central Theme?

Another challenging one. The only thing Dan and I have at this point is 'Conspiracies'. There seems to be a lot of who's zooming who, plots and sub-factions. Any thoughts?

It's that time again gang. I have to honest, I usually have an idea but this time I'm a little miffed.

Episode 3x17 / Central Theme
« on: April 19, 2007, 10:03:20 AM »
Every week I like to start my podcast by exploring the central theme of each episode (though they don't all actually have one). Before I say anything out loud I'd like to hear what other sledgelings have to say on this topic.
