Title: La Jetée, Sans Soleil, Stalker
Post by: Staggerlee on March 29, 2008, 04:05:16 PM
Am wondering if any one has seen these films?
I've got access to two of them, just the time to see them has not been readily at hand. The stuff I've read of them though is intersting...

They are amongst a few things I've run across in reference to lost in the area of "influences" "references". Where, I do not remember exactly, they all carry elements related to the story presented here in this show. I've searched here and at Lostpedia and found no refs to them in either...(might need a bigger magnifying glass and Holmseian pipe though...)

As has been discussed as per influences vs. lifting directly vs. plagiarism, that only interests me persons influence is another's plagiarism...(as per the Slaughterhouse discussion, yet another story to dig out and read for me, interest piqued!!!)

In the historical context of the creation of the story they interest me...the same way one might like to know the influences of a favorite artist, thereby finding cool new artists/musical styles..
Or artists like following Andrew Wyeth back to Peter Hurd to Winslow Homer...Along the way picking up some real cool stuff.

I'll provide the wiki pages for the movies so they may be perused at your like should any have not seen them or heard of them.
Also if anyone has anything similar they'd like to share I would be most welcoming of that, as I am OCD about this stuff, and I NEED A FIX!!!! ;D

Sans Soleil :

La Jetée :

Stalker :

Thank you for your attention, you may now return to your regularly scheduled mayhem, misanthropy, anthropy or general fineness you were hitherto preoccupied.... ;)

Will be picking up the "Stalker" from the library tomorrow, will watch and report.....

gotta just love public libraries!!!! Less cash than other rentals (a buck a movie, documentaries usu. free), and at least ours has some pretty eclectic tastes!!!

I saw the title and wondered if our favorite spammers got back in for a minute... ;)
