Episode 4x13 / Re: Ben's Exile From The Island
« on: June 03, 2008, 06:52:48 PM »
Could Ben have known Locke would die and placed Locke in his position as leader knowing that death was to follow?

Ben handed Locke his crown - but it was a crown of thorns.
Don't forget Locke had been longing for that thorny crown and worked hard to get it. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and Locke sees Mrs. Universe.

It seems as if Chuck and Ben have set rules for this little game of hide and seek they play. Maybe Charlotte was born on the island and during a previous attempt to remove Ben from power Charlotte and or her pregnant mother were transported off island by a different "do gooder" similar to Jack? Maybe her mom is the "Sun" character from the last round of Risk between our foes. Island gets moved. New game to play with new pieces but with varying results. To Ben and Charles it's all just a game no matter the lives they destroy. Hypothetically speaking of course.

Love this theory!
Gracias!

After reading this entire forum I thought of one issue about "red" in relationship to this episode: TPTB always seem to tie the theme of the episode with characters centrally involved in it. Episode 4x13 / Timeline Question
« on: May 30, 2008, 10:21:16 AM »
In episode 4x09, Ben popped up in the desert wearing a parka with a freshly wounded right arm. According to the desk clerk it is 2005. In last night's epi he gets injured falling down the ladder before he turns the wheel to move the island and we know that this happens 100+ days post crash. I guess what I am asking help on is simple: Did Ben just travel forward and lose a year plus of his life? Is that the danger he extols about moving the island?

Here you go...

I guess that Aaron does make them. He's very productive, isn't he???
Sorry this is off topic but did anyone else think Jack stepping on the Millenium Falcon was odd? Not any run of the mill toy but a lightspeed / hyperspace traveling spaceship. They did pan down to give us a good look when he placed it on the counter. Pictures and other toys around seem to be geared towards toddlers and the Falcon just seems out of place.

Episode 4x10 / Re: What Happened to Hurley?

Didn't he say we're all dead?
He told the doc he didn't believe he was real.  It's all too much for the big guy's brain, seeing dead people & keeping the O6 secret.

Couldn't agree more. Lest we forget Hurley had "issues" long before 815 crashed onto Fantasy Island. He might have found his happy place on the island and that he is gone...... he really is gone.

Shrewd observation!  Maybe the Others who made it to The Temple would like to see Ben removed from power, and Locke put in his place.
I think TPTB implied that by having Richard give Locke the "personnel" file about Sawyer and how it related to Locke's inability to kill his daddy. Richard understood that Locke could be a threat to Ben's power but needed to complete Ben's test not for Ben but to show the rest of the "others" he was capable. I inferred that Richard would like to be in control and use Locke as a puppet. Just some junk that has been wandering through my brain.

I trust the person who hands me a gun so I may defend myself. After I shoot Ben and Widmore I will go find The Temple and have a martini, shaken not stirred.

New ideas are always welcomed but Holy Toledo batman that was just plain weird. If you are going to creep us out like that could at least distribute some form of painkiller? I prefer percocets.

Episode 4x07 / Re: Could Ben have staged the crash?
« on: March 26, 2008, 07:42:44 AM »
If Widmore planted the fake plane, then the box we see on the ship need never have been at the bottom of the Trench. It's all just part of Widmore's lies.
If widmore planted the plane, he'd have no need of the black box.  He'd just leave it in the plane with the rest of the fake 815.

If Ben planted the fake plane then why would he even bother to plant a fake box? Better it was just presumed lost, one would think.
If Ben planted the plane, Widmore would want the box to prove the plane was not 815 (which would be easier than checking the DNA of the bodies, which would require getting DNA from family members also).

Ben planted the plane, locking it in, final answer!
So what you are saying is Ben is smart enough and has the resources to plant a fake plane but is not smart enough to remove the black box? With all of those resources he couldn't fake the in-flight recorder or the flight data recorder? Still up for debate but I will choose to wait for TPTB to reveal the final answer.

Episode 4x08 / Re: Who made the set up?
« on: March 21, 2008, 10:02:55 AM »
My percocets may be to strong but I think it's Widmore. By planting and then finding the plane he assures himself that families aren't seeking answers and more importanlty "James Cameron types" won't go searching for another Titanic. Widmore can look for the Island without concern for treasure hunters and avoid them accidentally running into the island.

Episode 4x08 / Why Sayid Became Ben's "Professional"
« on: March 21, 2008, 09:36:15 AM »
When we saw Sayid as Ben's "Professional" (That is a Hitman for those who didn't see The Movie) during The Economist Epi everyone couldn't figure out why. So I want some theories but I also think it is simple: Sayid's betrayal of Michael causes the captain to accelerate the mission's timeline for the hostile takeover. This causes the death of some of our Losties. Since Sayid survives he feels guilty and Ben uses him to "course correct"  in order to "save" the Island in the future. Or not. I would like to hear what people think.

A picture of Ben when on radio with Michael. Looking to see if Ben is in wheelchair.

OK, no one is asking this, and I don't have a clue as to how Tom got off the island without the sub. To my knowledge and quick analysis of the timeline, the sub is definately blown by the time "the christmas season" comes around.  Help?! feedback? anyone?
When Ben was speaking to Kevin on the boat it looked like he was in his wheelchair. That would mean Michael was on the freighter just after Ben's surgery. That means Mr. Blow Stuff Up hadn't "eighty-six'd" the sub.
