The island is "death" because, statistically speaking, you will die if you go there. Just think of all the people that have died so far in the show. i'd have to say hundreds.

I don't think that everyone HAS to return to the island. when ben, jack et al went to visit Mrs Hawking (daniel's mom), she said something along the lines of "i thought i told you to bring them all", and then "well i guess this will have to do."
I think Ben wants to bring everyone back just in an effort to keep the island a secret. of course, this conflicts with what christian instructed locke to do, so perhaps ben and christian/jacob/the island are in league together? haha i think i'm stretching here

I think both of their minds were time traveling, even though their bodies weren't. i guess that's what happens when your brain can't handle all the time-traveling.

I don't think this can be explained by anything "abnormal". i don't think it has anything to do with time travel or immortality... i think it was just a bit of a slip up by the producers/ casters.
or maybe he just looks great for his age?

So if the tripmines that blew up at the creek weren't planted by the others, who do they belong to?

Interesting in that it has been said that he does not want to be the leader, is more of a co-leader with whomever is "chosen".

Actually a really good place to be if one is "ageless" so to speak.

it seemed like he was the leader in 1954... but otherwise you're right. this doesn't make sense to me. he seems to have such a deep connection with the island, and he seems to know so much. why doesn't he want to lead now? or what happened that made him pass off his leadership? i think he would make a great leader haha

Episode 5x02 / Re: Military uniforms in the past

To me they looked like WWII-era british troops. they had what looked like garands (WWII rifles) and the uniforms looked like they match the time.

Episode 3x22 / New music
« on: May 24, 2007, 08:22:54 PM »
I noticed that this episode had some new music, but i'm not really a fan of it.
Maybe i'm just used to the regular music, but this new stuff really threw me off and sounded out of place. I think the regular music is perfect, so if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

when i saw locke walking away, i figured he would come back riding Smokie to save the day.

air pressure is keeping it out. same thing happens when you put an upside down cup into water. The air in the cup prevents water from rushing in.

Episode 3x20 / Re: Richard Alpert Doesn't age?
« on: May 11, 2007, 07:25:02 PM »
It's possible that the Natives/Hostiles to the island age at an extremely slow rate.  When a smiling Richard enters Ben's tent he asks about the carved doll.  Ben says "It's my birthday. You remember birthdays don't you Richard?'  Richard countanance then fades.

Why would the others concede leadership to Ben? - When Richard encountered the young Ben in the jungle he asks if Ben saw his dead mother?  Seemed pretty fasinated by that.  Recall Ben told Locke he was the only one who talked to Jacob.  Perhaps the natives did not have the ability to talk to Jacob and saw Ben as special since he had seen his dead mother.  The natives could assume that the vision Ben had of his mother was Jacob in the form of Emily Linus.  That would make Ben special in their eyes and perhaps lead to Ben's leadership role.  He fills a role that the natives can not.

I don't think Ben's mother was Jacob. I think that Richard was interested because he realized Ben had a gift of being able to communicate with the dead/spirits/ghosts. Jacob, therefore, is dead.

Perhaps the "hostiles" lost their leader, who was the only one who could speak to jacob, and they needed someone to take over. Ben could provide this.
