Episode 6x16 / Re: Did Locke have to die?
« on: May 28, 2010, 07:34:17 PM »
There are 2 dead bodies of Locke on the island now
and 1 of Jacob's brother.

Now that is funny ;D

anyway, i think this will be my last post here.. of course i may be wrong, but we'll see. i've just been frustrated at all the negativeness in this forum about the finale, i literally can't read anymore bad reviews by angry fans. i'll definitely check up to see the recaps, i love those :) and maybe i'll check in every once in a while... thanks sledge for all your hard work, and thanks to all the mods and admins and others who have kept this forum going all these years... you guys are all a great bunch of people!!!!

-with much LOST love
hurley rocks dudes-- also known as Jason :D

First off thank you! ( for anyone who doesn't know I write those and as soon as my brain gets unmelted by the finale I will have new ones up!)

But I did want to make one point. This forum is exactly designed to hash out what we ALL thought of the finale. It's not "Sledgeweb's Lost... Stuff for people who liked the finale ONLY" so I don't think it's fair for anyone to say (and I'm not singling you out, Jason, because a lot of people are saying it) like it or get out. It's almost as if people are taking others opinions too personally.

Person A: I loved it.
Person B: I hated it.
Persons A & B: OMG, what is wrong with you??

Can't we all just get along?*

(oh, yes I did!)  ;)

I loved it and hated it.
I loved to hate it.
I hated to love it.
Where do I fit in?

Episode 6x16 / Re: Unnecessary Escape...
« on: May 27, 2010, 03:19:35 PM »
If the show was reality, then yeah, it turns out they didn't really need to escape the island that second after all.  But since it's a show, and they needed to tie things up for us at the end, then:
1. Jack needed to know they got off the island before he died, and
2. WE needed to know they got off the island so we'd know they lived out their lives before they met again at the church.
We weren't going to have time to find out whether Hurley COULD change the rules and, if he could, how and when they would get to leave, etc.

Yeah, but, now that you say that... We never really saw them leave the island, did we?  We only saw them fly over it.  How do we know they didn't crash a few seconds later :)  Or fly through a time-wrap and end up in 1872 :D

P.S. It was just a tv show. You realize that, right?

You did not just say that!  JUST a tv show!!!  It's only the greatest tv show ever!!!!!

That line kind of reminds me of the movie Galaxy Quest.  And look what happen there.   Makes me wonder if in some distant region of space an alien race is picking up the Historical Documents of the Lost island, and are recreating all the Hatches and the temple and the wells and stuff... :)

Episode 6x16 / Unnecessary Escape...
« on: May 27, 2010, 03:00:11 PM »
The more I think about it, the more I find the airplane escape by Lapidus and company a little useless.  Sure they didn't know that Jack would turn the light back on and stop the island from sinking.  And that the new leader would be Hurley, who would probably be the most benevolent leader ever on the island.  But had they not been able to get the plane started, they still would have been just fine.  All the bad guys were dead and Hurley would have probably just let them go home...  So the whole plane escape was quite unnecessary... Am I ruining it for everyone? :)

I have an idea, why not just tell them the truth... Whoa, wait... they all be put in the Santa Rosa Mental Ward ;)

Episode 6x16 / Re: Questions?
« on: May 25, 2010, 06:21:34 PM »
. . .
Specific questions will get specific answers. If a specific question elicits a longer response that has already been answered at length to my knowledge I'll llink to it. Not being a prick with this, I am just trying to help.
. . . who created that "heart of the island" chamber, with the stone tunnels and carved plug and everything? And who created the island in the first place?

HAHA. Well The chamber was most likely created by the first protector. The GOD of the island if you will. THat is probably why it was never answered. They did not want to put the onus singularly on one deity. The Island and the Chamber was most likely created by the same power that created the universe. We saw people had, in the past, attempted to enter the chamber with deadly results. They couldn't make it to the center. This stands to reason that the only person to have a hand in creating the Island could have been a deity.

Not to rain on your parade IAJ, but you made a promise that you can not keep.  You said you'd give specific answers to specific questions.  But, as your first question and response shows, you can't always do that unless you just make stuff up.  And I don't really care about other viewers made up answers.  I care about what the creators/writers intended the answers to be.  Your answer even admits that they didn't provide the answer.  This only proves that the creators of the show didn't give us all the answers, like everyone is complaining about.  Which is fine with me, but don't pretend to help and be a know-it-all, when you're not...  Now, I'm being a prick :)

katbriil, I'm with your husband on this question.  I'd loved to have learned the origin of the island and it's first inhabitants.  But I suppose in the end they really couldn't come up with anything that wasn't too cheesy...

Plus, I think Jacob did want to move on... He finished burning his ashes so that he could...

Side rant:  Jacob brought people to the island 1:  to replace him and 2:  for "the game."  It seems to be if he hadn't done #2, he wouldn't need #1.

Not true.  He would always need a replacement, because he'd eventually want to move on himself.  The "game" was, in my opinion, more of a product of Mother's doing than Jacob's.

I disagree.  It was clear that MIB/brother wanted to move on, Jacob did not.  Jacob being on the island, fundamentally alone, was all he ever really knew.  Jacob excluded himself from the camp that MIB went to (and let's not get into who were they and how did they get there as an unanswered question that was created for no reason); Jacob did not need a replacement until he created the conditions for MIB to kill him - that created the need for a replacement.

But Mother set the conditions for MIB not being able to kill Jacob.  MIB always wanted to kill Jacob and Jacob knew he'd eventually find a loophole.  Yes, Jacob accidentally turn MIB into Smokey, but it wasn't what he wanted.  He didn't create Smokey on purpose and cause Smokey to want kill to him.  The "game" was not create by Jacob, though he played it really well...

What the writer's didn't tell us, but will in the sequel, is that this was all a computer simulation.  They are all hook up to machines and being used as batteries...

Episode 6x16 / Re: David
« on: May 24, 2010, 01:34:53 PM »
To me David is still MIB.
When Desmond made him human he was finally able to die and leave the island.
And he created a home for himself where the island was deep in the ocean and
he had a family and home.

That's a stretch, but why not...

So Jack was raising the man in black... hmmm
