LOl - I do recall some of that plaid.   Plenty of people just wore plain jeans or khakis, though.

Most people did not wear such wide bellbottoms - by the 70s we wore flares, more like boot-cut jeans, and I did not know anyone who wore shoes like that! 
Sort of like how some styles are on runways, but normal people don't wear them.

My brother owned a pair of tennis shoes back then with 6-inch soles made of psychedelic colors lol :)
