Problems Letting Go / Saying Goodbye

In "White Rabbit," Jack cannot let go of the pain he has in his relationship with his father, even after his death. He has no closure, and ends up seeing his father appear mysteriously on the island.
In "Confidence Man," Sawyer tells Jack "Let go. I know you want to." (while he is keeping Sawyer from bleeding to death). Jack refuses.
In "Solitary," Sayid asks Danielle to "please let me go." She responds that she cannot, that it is not safe; "You need me. You can't leave."
In "Hearts and Minds," Boone is jealous of Sayid's relationship with Shannon. Locke ties up Boone and gives him a hallucinogen. He says, "I'm doing this, Boone, because it's time for you to let go of some things. Because it's what's best for you." Boone afterwards has a vivid hallucination about Shannon getting killed, but when asked by Locke how he felt, says "I felt relieved." Locke responds, "Time to let go."
In "Do No Harm," Boone begs "Let me go, Jack." (to allow him to die in peace). Jack refuses. In a flashback to before his wedding, his father tells him, "Commitment is what makes you tick, Jack. The problem is you're just not good at letting go."
In "Exodus," Locke begs Jack "Let me go. Just let me go." (when the Smoke tries to drag him into a hole in the ground). Jack physically will not let him go, and refuses. Kate says in this episode that "I'm not very good at goodbyes."
In "A Tale of Two Cities", Jack starts to hallucinate and hears his father's voice whispering "Let go" repeatedly.
Jack is also asked on many occasions to speak at funerals of deceased 815 passengers, and refuses, saying he is not good with funerals.
Locke cannot let go of his father, even after he is used and abandoned.
Michael cannot let go of the thought of being reunited with his son, both off the island (custody procedings) and on the island (running off to find him).
Claire was already in the process of signing paperwork for adoption, but changes her mind at the last minute.
Sun was going to leave Jin at the airport, but cannot let go of their relationship and her love for him.
Bernard knows that Rose has a terminal illness, but refuses to let go of the possibility of saving her.
Desmond and Penelope have not let go of one another through all the years (Penelope did not remarry and sought him through the EMP signal heard by the listening station).
There are also several castaways who cannot let go of their need for vengeance, including Sawyer (still pursuing the real Sawyer), Kate (killed Wayne), Charlie (killed Ethan, and later faked an attack on Sun to make Locke look bad), Shannon (tries to kill Locke, blaming him for Boone's death), and Ana-Lucia (let the man who shot her back on the street, so that she could kill him).
