HUNT #6:
HINT #1: Let your fingers do the walking (2=abc)
HINT #2: The image is distorted. Fixing it may help lead you to the right site.
HINT #3: That's no moon, but you've seen it somewhere before.
SOLUTION:
1) If you compress the image vertically, you will see a picture of a phone followed by: 7.4865
2) The phone image is a hint to use a phone pad to decode the numbers. Of course, there are many combinations, but you are looking for "q.html"
3) The "moon" in the image is actually the earth, and is taken from the PhysicsPhans logo. This is a hint to try "www.physicsphans.com/q.html"
4) There, you find and image of a ship that has a flashing light. Using morse code, the light flashes translate to: 2023604695X364 (a phone number and extension)
5) Calling the number, you get a message (NOTE: The phone service relied on a 3rd party. This service stopped working on day 2 or 3 of the hunt, and thus it was impossible for anyone to finish - although, some players did hear the message, nobody got the final answer right. I've uploaded an mp3 of the voice message HERE.)
6) In the voice message, you are asked to name a certain destroyer escort:
