Why is Locke always getting shot or injured

So far in the 5 episodes of season 5 locke has been Shot, hes fell off a large wall, hes fell down a large well, hes got something sharp stuck in his leg........oh and hes had to die
Why is locke always getting hurt and do you think that he'll ever be alive again

That was his Tibia bone sticking out of his leg, he broke it when he landed at the bottom of the well.

He has to be in a wheelchair.
It are almost always his legs that are injured.

When his legs get hurt it is a reminder to him that the ability to walk can always be taken away.
