Episode 6x16 / Re: last thoughts, goodbyes, annoyances, and stuff :)
« on: June 07, 2010, 04:47:13 PM »

why was Richard allowed to leave and come back to the island, but no on e else was  ?

Jacob allowed him too. Remember when Hurley said no one was allowed to leave, and Ben responded with, "That was the way Jacob ran things"? Jacob let his assistant leave to check on John Locke who told Richard he would be their next leader. Ben sent Richard to go get Juliet, because he knew Richard was the only one allowed off Island

I don't need all the questions answered, but the show certainly had a lot of holes and left a lot of things unanswered and things for us to speculate on

Umm..... Ethan was with him off island to recruit juliet,

Tom left to talk to michael,

Ben in that photo shown to Michael by was it bram?

Richard was not the only one allowed to leave

Analyzing is one thing. Repeatedly banging your head against the wall about things that A: Didn't matter to the story, or B: Have already be answered, maybe not as concrete as you like, is another.

See, more of the same.

Just because you've decided to write up countless answers that you've made up for yourself, and are fine with them, doesn't mean anything. That's fan-fiction.

Because, no, we didn't need a 3 hour episode on the Egyptians. As I've read elsewhere, we didn't need a scene showing them reading over blueprints for the statue, or actually carving in all of the writing on the temple walls.  But funny that they did all of that extensive pushing of hieroglyphics, buildings, statues, symbolism, names, characters for six years.  And they gave us not one single scene giving any background on any of the egyptians elements of the show. But, thankfully they gave us Paulo and Nikki, right?  THAT part of the story just had to be told, apparently.

Because it is that very perception that certain things "didn't matter to the story", that is the problem.  Because with that kind of logic, where exactly does the pecking-order end? Why have a show at all?  Why not just start with the crash and cut right to the part where Jack dies protecting the island and watches his friends fly away?

You know what else didn't really matter to the story in the end?  For starters....Walt, Michael, Eko, Libby in the asylum, Paulo and Nikki, the whispers, Eloise, Daniel, Charlotte, Miles, Dr Chang, Dharma, the NUMBERS.  While we're at it, why did the writers bother introducing Jacob and MiB's fake mom at all then?  That was history that the writers could've played numerous ways, and ignored just as they did the Egyptians. They didn't even introduce the idea that Jacob and the MiB even had a mother until what....3 episodes before the finale?  Did we really need to see Jacob and the MiB play out that miserable episode, with the hack explanation of the donkey wheel, or the cave of light and the smoke monster shooting out?  Watch it again. We didn't, did we?  It didn't really matter to the story in the end.  In fact, we probably would've all been better off if they had kept ignoring it and only brought in the cave of light at the very end of the finale, with Desmond and Jack going into it.  At least we would've been spared by only having to see that terrible cgi job only once.

It's all perspective. It's just that some of you are more inclined to pretend like you actualy know more than those of us who were watching the show with you.

Sorry to say it bud, but it appears we DO know more than you. You want a scene of backstory on the Egyptians? Where would you have put it without devoting a whole Ep to it? It doesn't fit with our story.

"Walt, Michael, Eko, Libby in the asylum, Paulo and Nikki, the whispers, Eloise, Daniel, Charlotte, Miles, Dr Chang, Dharma, the NUMBERS." Aside from Paulo and Nikki, (Which is the episode referred to as why they gave themselves an end date and 16 episode seasons) The fact that you dont understand why this stuff either became less important over time, (Walt +Eko) or was important makes me doubt we were watching the same show. You thought Michael was unimportant? Hardly. He was a person that acted in his own self interests, and was therefore damned to be stuck on the island  until he could redeem himself. Libby in the asylum is a tiny detail of the story which would have been told had she not gotten clipped for a DUI. The whispers were explained directly and everyone hated it. Eloise used to be an Other and killed her own son. After leaving the island she assisted people wanting to get back. In the ALT she gained realization soon after her entrance into it, and did not want to move on so she could have a life with her son she squandered.  Daniel (Tried) helping all of us understand some of the physics behind the timetravel of the show. Ultra important. Charlotte was Daniel's love interest. That's seemingly what Lost was all about. Miles Had great purpose, with his father issues AND his power to hear the thoughts of the dead. Dr. Chang was Miles' father needed for the Father issues that were an underlying theme to the show. Dharma showed the lengths Jacob would allow people to go to before he could no longer allow their presence on the island. Also Dharma were the ones who made possible the conditions giving Desmond his gift. Without the Losties time traveling to them, that all never would have happened. As for the numbers, I can understand why some people are upset with the way they handled them. As a writer I can see the probability that they knew what the numbers would be used for, but could not tell us enough about the circumstances for us to understand the importance of them. So they conveyed the dire importance of them and then left us to take them where we did.  Some people can't get that and that's fine. I don't hold a grudge on that.

So there you go. These are not Theories. These are facts about the same show you watched. If you have problems with it that's fine, but don't start numerating lists like that which are so obviously forced you really only have one valid gripe in there.

Libby in the asylum is a tiny detail of the story which would have been told had she not gotten clipped for a DUI.

I was thinkng maybe this was played out,

as in this was our fist glimpse of the flash sideways, way back in whatever season it was.

I dont think Libby actually was in the asylum pre 2004.

Everything up to season 6 happened.

During season six, everything Island oriented happened.

When our character's died (Some before Jack, some Long after) they came to this place where time doesn't pass. That single moment lasts as short or as long as one percieves before they come to accept their death and move on. All the Losties were brought together by Desmond to move on together.

Thats Basic, but its the gist.

Ok, a little more confused now

Everything in season six on island happened?

I never saw Kate die. never saw sawyer die. they did eventually though obviously,  the ajira flight presumably go off the island, and that is when jack died correct?

Lockes body was taken over by the smoke monster? or was that made up?

they actually time travelled????

Episode 6x16 / Re: My Biggest Complaint
« on: May 25, 2010, 11:14:00 AM »
My biggest complaint about the season finale is the stuff I'm reading from news outlets and websites through google news where people point out that Damon said long ago that they weren't in purgatory.  Then the writer goes on to say, "well I guess he lied flat-out, it was soooo obvious even seasons ago."

To these people I say - take the show as a whole, or don't take it at all.  If you have an incomplete impression of the show, then just shut up.

They weren't in purgatory the whole time, and if you'd actually paid attention to the things that were stated out-right in the finale, you'd know that.

Only the "sideways" of season 6 was any sort of afterlife, you smug, ill-informed, opinionated wing-bags.

Rargh!

I know full well that show was not just a phenomenon, it was also a very polarizing thing.  You either loved it, and watched it.  Or hated it, and either quit watching or pressed on despite that because you wanted to know what it was about.  Or never gave it the time of day and then complained when you tried to watch and were confused.

Whether you loved it or hated it, just as with anything in life that has a clear beginning, middle, and end. - don't react or comment on it out of ignorance.  I don't care if you hated it like crazy by the end and want to talk about it, so long as you put forward a good try and have a complete impression.  Then you have a right to say what you think.

I don't engage in conversations about politics in any fashion because I don't have a complete understanding of it, one way or another.  So to these writers I say, don't comment on something out of ignorance.

So when exactly did they get to "purgatory"???

totally lost

it was all an effin dream?

Thye must have actually interacted on the island at some point cause Juliet and Ben were not even on the plane.

So they didnt die in the plane crash, maybe the Jughead did it.

Did not get the ending at all, am I stupid?

Episode 6x15 / Re: As a father, I'm a little offended!
« on: May 19, 2010, 03:49:41 PM »
I don't think the cross off relates to a mother more significant that a father,  He just didn't want to make her choose,

He wanted the eventual guardian to have the choice. but choosing between your Child (I know not her child) and the world is something he did not want to make her do.

Episode 6x14 / Re: Is MIB dead or Smokey?
« on: May 13, 2010, 10:26:48 AM »
Yeah, I agree Barringer. Why would they spend all that time giving us the MIB backstory and then just kill him at the end? It's like here, all this stuff we spent the whole episode showing you...now toss it out the window. That just is hard for me to swallow.

What if it was just to reveal Jacobs backstory,

We did see more of Jacob than MIB in this episode.

There hasn't been any time travel.... think about it.

Yeah SOL, there hasn't been any time travel, as long as you ignore the whole season where they were time traveling.

I like this,  short to the point, sarcastic, Great, absolutely great!!

Episode 6x14 / Re: So who installed the frozen wheel?
« on: May 12, 2010, 12:11:26 PM »
If I remember the xray image correctly, it showed half a wheel indicating it was already installed.

Like I just posted. The Wheel was in the wall, behind all of the rock the D.I. was drilling and removing, so they most deffinitely did not put it there.

Wow I missed that post completely, I am getting distracted by pretending to work.

Nope different thread.,  Your not crazy.

So with that out of the way,

Who installed it,  and,  how did she, drag him up the ladder, fill in the hole and kill all those other by herself?

Episode 6x14 / Re: Apparition of the real mother
« on: May 12, 2010, 11:02:05 AM »
Well, I think we need to stop expecting them to wrap everything up in a nice little bow (although, at the end where they interweaved the scenes of Jack, Kate and Locke finding Adam and Eve, I mean hell, they might as well have just showed a big check mark on the screen for that), but think about it this way. Now we know for a fact that Sometimes the dead people are ghosts, and sometimes, it's smokey. I know that doesn't really help right now, but if they don't cover this a little more by the finale close, then I'm right there with you.

I remember something about Jack saying that the bodies based on the clothing decay had been in that cave for 50 years,

that was not shown last night.  How could JAck have been so far off,  or...  is this another example of the writers not having the story developed entirely prior to the first episode as they claim?

When Dr. Chang took the xray of the wall wasn't it still lying against the wall as it was in this episode. I assume Dharma put it together.

Could you be that good to naill this?

I do not remember the xray myself but I do recall seeing the wagon wheel shape which it would not show if installed horizontally.

Great thought Sue

why don't everyone go into the light and come out ,   everyone gets a color  ...rainbow colored smokies  ;D

meanwhile i like the idea of the why donkey wheel is frozen

Speaking of Donkey wheel,'

If MIB was knocked out,  The wheel wasnt attached to to anything yet, then the whole was filled in.

who put the wheel in the wall,

And.......  How did one woman, drag MIB's ass out of the well fill in the hole, and kill all those (others) ????

You caught that, did ya? haha. I'm kiddin'

You better be, or I'll reach through the internet and pull out your endocrine system. LOL

HAHA. What an odd system to try an remove from me. Just hearing the phrasing of that made me laugh.

I don't know how to go about tracking people locations using IP adresses and such but I was about to try and learn real quick,  It always amazes me how anyone over the age 5, and not female, has no idea what star wars is,

In the first season, I would've bet real Locke could do that too.

Yeah right up  untill the first time he cried.
