Episode 6x04 / Re: What does he want from me
« on: February 26, 2010, 05:53:08 PM »
Bob, rent Gia, fastforward to the scene with the chain link fence, then tell me if you still don't like Juliet. Might just change your outlook on things. ;)

Seen it, and despite how good of a scene that is, that doesn't change my opinion of Juliette.
Bob, we really ARE new best friends!!!!!!

As far as Kate taking Aaron... what the crap should have happened to Aaron? Claire left him, Sawyer (and Hurley I think???) took him back with them to where the Losties were, Kate gave him to Sun to get him to safety on the tanker, the tanker blew up, Kate took Aaron on Penny's boat... I see no mistakes on Kate's behalf there. Should she have given Aaron to Claire's mom when they got back to the real world? Probably, if Claire's mother was out of her coma at that time (which she might not have been). But then that would have blown the whole story of only them surviving. So unh. LOL  :P

Miles, not Hurley. I think I'm with you on that idea about Aaron, thing is, I bet that if it were regular Claire, and not crazy (or infected if that's what's going on with her) then she wouldn't want to murder Kate for taking him.
true dat

neither Clair nor Sawyer are dead
I don't think either are dead either, but it makes me extremely sad to think of a world with no Sawyer!!!

Well, to address your comment in a not serious way, me, I'd be totally fine with all of that.

Now to address it with some thought. LOL, I would totally freak out too. It is just so easy to bust jack's balls. As for the breaking of the lighthouse mirrors, I don't think we will be revisiting the lighthouse, so this isn't really important, BUT, I don't think the mirrors were magic, the lighthouse is, so if they were to be replaced, I think the lighthouse would work again.

You're right. It's always been easy to rip on Jack. His been so filled with angst from the very beginning, I think we all wish he could just be more like Hurley and just chill a little (Jungle Otter, that was freakin hilarious). But I guess if there wasn't any yelling, the show might be a little boring.

I think you are right about the Lighthouse too. Jacob seemed to indicate that it had already served its purpose. But when I said "magical lighthouse mirrors", did I mean the lighthouse was magic, or the mirrors? I'll reveal my answer if/when we ever really find out for sure. ;)
Call me crazy... but I love all of the characters for who they are. Except for Juliet. Never have been able to stand her/trust her. I was so happy when she bit it both times!

You're crazy! J/K I think you are right. TPTB have found great chemistry among the characters, part of what makes this show the best ever.

However, I'll have to disagree with ya on Juliet. I was a fan, but that may just be because I loved her performance in "Gia" with Angelina Jolie. ;)
I know most people hate Kate these days, but I still love her! And I didn't know she was in that... haven't seen it in forever... worth checking out... maybe I will change my mind about her  :-\

Somebody needs to write a front page article about this, summing it up...

1. Not all the answer will be given!
2. While the writers had a broad plan from the beginning, most of the stuff has been made up as they went along.
3. The writer's give as much, if not more, effort into character development than into mythology, even though most of the people still watching are watching for mythology.
4. The show will have a payoff, but it most likely won't be what you expect.
5. Not everyone will be pleased with the payoff
6. Everything I just said above is speculation on my part based on interviews with the writers that I've heard...

LOVE this! (with an addendum or two...)

1. absolutely
2.I thinik not ALL of it has been made up as they go along, because the story is seemingly too intricate
3. I still watch for the characters, with the Island certainly being one of the characters
4. Isn't it fun speculating about what the payoff will be though? I love it!
5. I hope I love the payoff and it's something I could have never even dreamed of
6. yup yup

I thought that corridor might have a significance beyond the secret exit as well. Does it lead to somewhere else "sacred"? Do the hieroglyphs on the wall give out just a little too much info (for those that can still read/translate the glyphs)?

David came across as merely a character that exists in an alternate reality,...

Yes, but with Course Correction and all, what does it mean, for David, to exist in one reality and not another? Doesn't that feel... wrong? I mean, everyone else at least exists in both universes, and presumably, those who are going to die are going to die. But to not be born at all? Wouldn't that make him half-born, or "soul-less", perhaps? Angry? Perhaps it's been his manipulation all along just to actually be BORN.

Maybe he is alive in the original timeline...  Jack just doesn't know it...

That is a good point... how many episodes of Maury must we watch to know that can happen  :-\

But he would be alive.... he would be the MIB...

I can't decide who is good and who is bad either. My gut tells me Jacob represents the good side, but he has had those moments where he is obviously a "dark" character... telling Ben, "What about you?", his interaction with MIB on the finale of season 5, not looking out for the Others in the Temple, the seeming manipulation of all of the candidates...

We haven't seen enough of the characters yet in the LA X timeline yet to know if they will have physical manifestations of their time on the island also. Sawyer got quite a few nice bangs and scrapes while he was on the island, so I hope we get to see more of him in the LA X timeline soon.

Episode 6x04 / Re: I Don't Get The Sayid Subplot Yet
« on: February 24, 2010, 12:05:20 PM »

If someone on Jacob's side kills a candidate (MIB tricked Ben into killing Locke), that body/soul is forfeited to the other team,in this case the MIB.  Sayid may fit this idea because even though Ben's father shot Sayid, he wasn't dead until the others 'helped him along' in the pool.  MIB has restrained himself from killing the candidates and therefore has not permanently lost anyone to Jacob's side yet (I think?).  Maybe he was able to kill Eko and the pilot because after scanning them, he saw they weren't on the list.  I don't know yet how this would apply to Claire, any ideas?

Awesome... always keeping good and evil (whichever side is which) in balance
