That's a good thought, ESB.  I could read it first to the kids and then move a few years later into Harry Potter.  (I can't wait to unleash Potter on them, but I know they need to be a little older to get it and appreciate it... especially starting with book 4.)

Jackii - as it were, my wife pretty much calls me a stubborn 5-year old on a daily basis.  Maybe this book IS right for me!  ;D

LOST Talk / Re: EMMY Submissions for LOST

I guess I am surprised that they singled out Matthew Fox and Evangeline Lilly for Lead roles.  I really think Michael Emerson should be nominated again for his work on Dr. Linus.  I know someone at EW thought Nestor Carbonell should get a nod for Supporting Actor, but I would go with both O'Quinn and Emerson before him.  Also kind of surprised that Henry Ian Cusick was considered a "Guest Actor"... I thought his name was on the full seasons credits.

Definitely agree with ESB on Giacchino.  Would be a travesty if he doesn't win.

Glad I could take us down THAT rat hole! (Or would that be a smokie hole?)   ;D

LOST Talk / Hurley's top moments...
« on: June 08, 2010, 08:00:11 PM »
Okay... I saw this link on Facebook and thought it warranted some discussion here... what are Hurley's top 5 moments on Lost?  Here's what the votes on ABC's Lost website said:

http://abc.go.com/shows/lost/top-five-lists/463157?a=topview

I am surprised that the whole exchange between Miles and Hurley regarding time travel isn't on the list.  It's one of my all-time favorite Lost moments.  There's also a van reference, but it's when Hurley came to the rescue in the van, not when he got it started (which I thought was kind of an iconic Hurley moment... breaking the bad luck in his head.)  What do you guys think?  Does this thread belong somewhere else?  Not sure where people are visiting these days, so I wanted to make sure it was seen.

Okay.... how worthwhile is it to read Narnia now?  I've never read any of the books and only seen the two movies.  I know they're fast reads, but I would hate to dedicate myself if it is really more geared towards... well, someone that's not me.  :-\

7-Up is actually one of the few remaining national soft drinks not owned by Pepsi or Coca-Cola.

I've lent my older DVD's out... not even sure if I have season 1 here or if someone else has it.  Would rather wait until after the full series comes out on Blu-Ray.  (Of course, I say that with doubt that I could get through a re-watch on a given schedule, but I like the concept.)

We went out for a family dinner, came home and watched a Wallace and Gromit episode we hadn't seen before ("A Matter of Loaf and Death") and now I will probably go to bed and read...a really exciting Friday night! Hope you're all well :)
Awww, I love Wallace and Gromit! We watched The Poseidon Adventure, the old-school one, not the one with Fergie.  ::)  First I was like, gah, another cheesy 70's movie! But then I cried a few times and changed my opinion, lol.
Have to admit, I loved the original Poseidon Adventure.  Haven't seen it years, so it stands the test of time in my mind.

To have had the opportunity to sit down with Coach John Wooden a couple of years ago for about 1 1/2 hours and just talk.  That was one of the coolest moments of my life.  Of course, that makes today very sad for me, too.  God Bless, Coach!  :'(
That was nice and I am happy you have a new home
Thanks LiL.  More soon... was out of town all week and was otherwise preoccupied yesterday.  I hope all is well and that the fact that you are not moving is, in the scheme of things, an acceptable outcome (either short-term or long-term).

Who the hell is Ben Sledge really?  Can we canonize him? What is a mod?  What are their real powers?  Can they grant absolution?  How does JB and Cowboy have so many posts?  What's a ute? (sorry... wrong show / movie.)
