Episode 3x22 / Re: Who Was Naomi?
« on: May 24, 2007, 04:12:43 AM »
Not sure who Naomi was, but her demise left something to be desired...

Jack is a doctor.  Jack watches someone put a knife in her back from a distance.  And the first thing Dr. Jack does is... ignore her?  I'm sure the first thing the good doctor would be thinking is, "Knife in the back... instant death!  I won't waste my time with her."

Does this mean Mikhail is sleeping with the fishes?  ;D

Episode 3x22 / Re: CHRISTIAN LIVES?
« on: May 24, 2007, 04:04:17 AM »
I suppose you can look at it both ways, but for my money I am betting Christian is alive and there is a story behind it.

I have been rolling my eyes since season one about people being so sure that Christian was alive.  We knew he was dead... it was obvious.  Now... hmmmm.  I think I will officially have to stop guessing and let the writer's take me to where they want to go.

Christian is... living in Whoopi Goldberg's body!

Episode 3x20 / Re: who is the little girl
« on: May 12, 2007, 02:28:25 AM »
I'm willing to bet money that she's not Danielle or Penny... or Kate or Libby or Ana  Lucia or Rose or Kate's mom or Nadia or Claire or Claire's mom or Sun or Jin's mom or Locke's mom for that matter.  Annie is either dead or she broke Ben's heart and still dead or is no longer on the island.  The only people who are even old enough to be Annie are Desmond's old lady or the Sheriff, whatever her name is.

This is the only post I saw that seemed to touch on someone we've seen in the show that has some semblance to Annie... the "Sheriff" was about Ben's age, blond, and obviously in a position of power on the island.  It has some interesting possibilities.  (Agreeing with the concept that they aren't going to donate a significant part of an episode without some tie-in elsewhere.)

Episode 3x16 / Re: What Sawyer did...
« on: April 21, 2007, 03:08:35 PM »
One final comment on this (although, I think most people are far beyond reading this thread anymore)... several folks made the comment that we have not seen Smokie come in contact with Sayid or Sawyer.  That is true up to the point that we have not seen it come into contact in its form as Smokie.  We have been given incredibly strong evidence that it can take other forms (ie, Eko's brother).  We've also "heard" in podcasts (although, in truth, I've actually only read it) that the producers have said that Smokie is in nearly every episode "if you are looking closely enough." (Not a direct quote... a paraphrase.)

Based on those two pieces of data alone, I think it is highly likely that Smokie has come into contact with all of our Losties at some point.

Episode 3x16 / Sayid's Contradiction
« on: April 14, 2007, 12:34:21 AM »
At the beginning of the episode, Sayid basically threatens Juliet if she doesn't tell him everything she knows ("You'll kill me if I do"... "What do you think I am going to do to you if you don't?")  Then, back at the beach, when Sawyer suggests that Sayid tortures her to get answers, Sayid says that he doesn't do that anymore.  THEN, Sayid runs off with Sawyer (of all people) to confront her (and basically threaten her again).  Am I missing something here?

Is it possible that the Losties really are playing Juliet as much as she is playing them?

Episode 3x16 / Kate and Juliet being "dragged" into the jungle
« on: April 13, 2007, 08:17:57 PM »
Maybe I am a little slow on this one, but one thing that has bothered me is that Juliet told Kate the she dragged Kate out and then handcuffed herself to Kate.  When they were walking back to Othersville, Kate was following the path supposedly left by being dragged out there.  If Kate is good enough to follow this path, wouldn't she have noticed that there was only one person being dragged the entire way?  Sure, you might be able to drag people "single file" (ie, similar to how Sand People march to hide their numbers... sorry, Star Wars reference), but you wouldn't be able to hide it over a long distance.

im not saying smokey doesnt scan for his own good.... what im saying is that the others get ANY of that said information for there own personal use... i too belive we will never be able to scientifically account for a lot of the mysteries surrounding people walking again and becoming cured... but imho smokey has nothing to do with WHERE the others are getting the information they have on the losties....

Fair enough... I can see both sides of the coin... it just seems to me that the Others have more information than is possible to glean even from the best of resources.  They seem to know EVERY dark secret so I think it is possible that they are getting the information in non-traditional (ie, anything we would know about from today's capabilities) methods.

when has smokey ever been seen scanning jack-kate-sawyer-sun-sayid or any others that they have real info on and have used for psychological breaking conversations or lists of whos good and bad??? lets drop the smokey reading minds idea because its not possible regardless of how far into a sci fi scenario we try to take all of this....

There is still quite a bit of debate in terms of what form Smokie takes.  Many people have conjectured that it can take the form of a person, animal, etc, with Eko's brother being a prime example.  (Also, Kate's horse, Jack's dad, etc.)  As for dropping Smokie reading minds... how else do you explain the pictures from Eko's past that showed up when Smokie was "scanning" him the first it saw him?

We won't be able to get away from the "sci fi" aspects of Lost when they show up all the time... how else does a paralyzed man who fell eight stories all of a sudden walk again?  How else do you explain Smokie at all?  There is nothing in current science that will allow something like that to exist.  Just part of the nature of the show.

Nice timing, thebeann.  Obviously I'm onboard with one of your theories!

I threw this out there in an earlier post... I think it is possible that Smokie (in its many forms) has the capability to look into people's thoughts.  Remember the first time Eko ran into Smokie... it showed pictures from Eko's past within Smokie, as if it was reading his memories.  If the Others control Smokie, they could be getting all of their information on the Losties via this method.  Just a thought...
