I guess it all goes back to Point of View.   Hopefully we will find out next season.

You guys realize that there's absolutely nothing so far that points to Walt intimidating all the Others with his "powers", right??...lol...Not to mention that winning at backgammon probably isn't something that should be chalked up to his "powers", either. Since we're speculating for all we know Locke let him win.

Right now the show is giving the vibe that the Others got whatever they wanted and needed from Walt, so they have no problems in letting him go, especially if doing so means they get Jack, Kate, Sawyer and Hurley in return. I haven't seen anything that showed anyone in the Others camp being effected by Walt's presence at all, nor have I seen anything that showed Walt being anything other than nervous and scared while around them.

Yes... but didn't Fenry say "we got more than we bargained for" when getting Walt.  That sentence alone can make us speculate whether he meant that Walt was too much to handle for some reason or another.  We do know from Walt's history that he does have some "powers" whether he knows or not.  And the fact that in "3 minutes" Bea kept questioning Michael about Walt's history.
You're right in the fact that we don't know for sure... That is why I am hoping for a Walt centric show early next season to find out exactly what they meant.

Episode 2x23 / Re: Libby/Elizabeth
« on: May 29, 2006, 06:07:39 PM »
No it'sourlibby she was by the way stating she was a clinical pyshcologist.  She obvioulsy works for Widmore. She could have been in there to spyon the guy rattling the number not hulrey he didn't use them until much later,or she went in becuase her husband wasreal and did die and she got depressed.

Thanks GJ this is the theory I have been pushing since Wednesday. It is nice to see someone else on the  same wavelength. She starts checking out Hurley after he uses the numbers and she wants to know what else he knows

I was thinking that Libby became obsessed w/ Hurley in the hospital... but I like this theory better.  Why else would Libby who is I would say at least ten years older than Hurley  start anything w/ him while on the island. I mean Hurley is not the most attractive person on the island... especially since he is sweating ALL the time.  I think this makes more sense as to why she is "attracted to him"... just trying to see what he knows!!  Good theory Guys!!

Hey look at that picture again.. Does anyone else think that the rain shelter (or whatever it is) on the dock is pretty big for two pearl stationers.  Maybe the rest of the hatches had people coming back to get ferried also.

Make that two, but remember his powers did show up also when he wasn't angry reading the comic book, throwing the knife, playing backgammon.

I thought he was angry w/ the comic book b/c Michael took it from him and burned it. As far as the other two I'll have to go back and watch b/c I don't remember the knife thing at all.

One thing I notices looking at these... the return address vs. the addressee... the "8" has been wrotten two different ways.  One as two circles utop each other, and the other is a sigle stroke 'figure-8'.  .

I don't know if it matters but I do this myself quite often.  I will write the eights both ways.  I will also write my two's differently also... some look like a 2 and other have the loopy cursive type two.  Maybe I am weird.

If Walt was "more than they bargained for" in terms of his ability and "specialness", you'd think they'd want to keep him longer, and not let him go.

Except that when Walt got angry his abilities tended to generate bad things.  Being in a place he didn't know with people who kidnapped him could have caused his abilities to go haywire... thus being more than they bargained for.

I know I have a strong opinion about this.. but that is my gut instinct. I am hoping next season they do a flashback w/ Walt showing what happened while  he was with them.

i don't know if they ever stated why they wanted walt.  I think they wanted him because he was a child.  Just like they took the other children... Alex, the two on the plane.. and tried to Take Claires. My guess is they would be easier to brainwash at a young age.  I just don't think they really knew about his powers.

I think he was referring to Walt's "powers".   Think about all we learned in season one about walt, with the polar bears and the birds at his mom's house.  Maybe the fact that Walt has these powers were a problem. That is why Bea was questioning Michael. And what if all those times that Walt was seen at camp at the beginning of the season were due to his "powers", then maybe that is what they didn't bargain for.  They didn't realize that by getting Walt he would be able to do all these things.  That is why his step father didn't want him either.

Just my opinion.

Geronimo Jackson said- "But why then since Locke helpedHenry wasn't Locke part of the ones to go with Michael? Did Henry want him to stay and punch the numbers?"

maybe they didnt want Locke because that list wasn't a list of helpful people, the "good ones".  After all, would you put Locke in the same category as Sawyer, a general no-goodnick, Kate, a murderer, and Jack, who is the polar oppositte of Locke? as for Hurley, they did send him back....

Yeah, but should Fenry be thankful to Jack.  I mean Jack did keep Sayid from beating him to death?[

I think that the magnet on the island is causing all the wrecks.  Think about it... using a compass it points to a false North, right? So maybe the equipment being used  to help guide each "vehicle" is being thrown off (as  they get w/in a certain range of the magnet), thus throwing them off course.  what do you think?
