This is good news. Especially since they still have so many questions to answer!
I though that the MRI tech at the hospital gave the best line of the night when he was just about to put Desmond into the machine (which is a giant magnet, by the way):
MRI Tech: "You'll need the button."
Desmond: "Button?"
MRI Tech: "Panic button. If you need to stop, press it. Try not to, cuz we'll have to start all over again from the beginning."
The MRI tech was wearing a red shirt, by the way.
Widmore was wearing a puple tie in one of the scenes as well. Sephany Mac has a great article about the color puple in LOST and how purple is a big color for villians especially in the comic book world.
I'll have to see if i can find it...
I'm always wrong about these predictions, so what the heck, but here goes: I'm going to predict that at some point we will see Desmond reading a bedtime story to adorably cute little Charlie, which will end with Desmond saying "...and they all lived happily ever after" and then he'll give this little loving smooch to Penny because he thinks that's how their story is going to end as well.
That, of course, will not happen because Desmond will then be kidnapped by Widmore and dragged off on the sub, and Desmond is totally going to be toast. But right before he dies, he's going to realize that it's OK, because he's all redeemed and saved and found and all that good stuff.
I bet Desmond is kidnapped after he gets out of the hospital from being shot by Ben. If Widmore really didn't know where Penny and Desmond were, but found out what hospital they were at, I bet he has someone trail him back to the marina, and kidnaps him there.
My first thought was that it would be Des...but I was really hoping it would be Aaron!

But, other than Otter's theory, why Desmond? Is Widmore trying to get him permanently away from Penny?
Yes, it would be another connection, but I don't see how it could/would serve the story.
Well, I figured I had to continue the saga.
So within the first half an hour MIB states he needs to get the candidates off the island! Oh and so glad to know KATE didn't make it.
So he appears to hit Sun hmmm good guy prevails.
Well, let us see what he is up to in the next half an hour

I say Sun, because no one expected the guitar case was holding an ahnk with names inside. No one expects it to be Sun.
In that case it could be the Spainish Inquisition, because nobody expects Spainish Inquisition.
Good catch! I think that the Devil they were referring to was the statue. It did look pretty devilish in the storm, standing sentinel over the island.
JamesL, I've been toying with that idea for awhile now too -- that MIB/Jacob are two sides of the same coin, and that either/or of them can be Smokey. There's lots of holes in it, but some merit as well. This whole situation with Isabella could be explained with that possibility. (I had not heard that TPTB had said at some ComicCon that Jacob had never appeared to anyone as anybody/anything else -- so we're absolutely sure of that? It's "canon" or whatever?)RICHARD: Are you the Devil?

Just another little tidbit that supports the theory that Jacob and MIB are one in the same. He's (Jacob) one side of Aaron, and MIB is the other. Somehow, they got split (time travel?) and only one can "win" to take over the corporeal body of Aaron. Or something like that. LOL
I'm glad you quoted this. That little pause and little smile of Jacob's is driving me straight up a wall. Any thoughts about what it might mean?
I think, somehow, Jacob, MIB and Smokey are the same "entiry"
Jacob and MIB are like a split personality,
they're like in the movies when you see someone trying to make a decision and they have a good guy sitting on one shoulder and a bad guy sitting on the other shouler trying to convince the person what choice to make
so even though they appear to be two beings, they are actually one
Jacob is the bad side; MIB is the good side
they're each fighting for control, for dominance, to see which "conscientiousness" will take control
Smokey is the "3rd form" , the spiritual, non-body form ; ok, I'm still working this out
so when MIB says, "That probably means he has her."
he's actually telling the truth
he, (Jacob/Smokey) has her
MIB actually didn't know who Richard was talking about when he was asking about Isabella
and he was actually telling the truth when he said, "I'm not the one you need to worry about. The Devil has your wife, and you are going to have to kill him if you ever want to get her back."
he's also telling the truth when he says "The devil betrayed me. He took my body"
this is why MIB and Jacob hate each other so much, only one can have final control
everytime we've seen Jacob and MIB talking to each other , what we're actually seeing is Smokey talking to himself !
its the split personalities arguing with each other
that's why they can't kill each other, it would be mental suicide; so they have to get someone to "kill" the other personality
of course its not a real physical death, its just one personality being destroyed while the other takes control
inside the foot is the only place where a real person can see the "physical" manifestations of both personalities (I don't know why);
that's why no one is allowed in unless Jacob invites them and that is why Ben was able to "kill" one personality manifestation
this other personality is what MIB saw as the little boy, the other personality was resufacing; and this is why MIB was so surprised Sawyer could see him too;
(I don't know why Sawyer could see him
yeah, I know. this theory needs a lot of work, but I'm sticking with it for now
