Episode 5x13 / Re: What is a Paradox?
« on: April 16, 2009, 02:00:42 PM »
As stated, two people existing in the same reference field is NOT a paradox. That is using Back-to-the-Future logic, which doesn't apply in Lost (because what happened happened, and the past cannot change).
I see the paradox issue as resolved for me but as the past cannot change... can the means that nets an the same end result change? Like a gun battle killing off DI instead of a purge through poison gas? Does it really matter how the end game occurs as long as the endgame remains the same? Please forgive my stupidity, as I love Star Wars, I just never was a big Sci-Fi person so some of this sorta gets me.....LOST.
You realize you're apologizing for not understanding the rules of time travel, right?  LOL  Since it doesn't exist, every stated rule is a theory... just a theory.

Episode 5x13 / Re: What lies in the shadow of the Statue?
« on: April 16, 2009, 01:59:03 PM »
This isn't going to be a popular answer, and I can already see the replies, but remember the people in S2 that were walking through the jungle silently?? Carrying the teddy bear?? Maybe Ilana's group are those people. I've always had the feeling that the silent people are a completely different group of people from The Others. Perhaps the others kicked them (or some of them) off the island, or they left for some other reason (perhaps to find what ever is in that box) and now they are back to take control. I think this would be a good set up for next season.
I think it was the Others when they were dressed up in their costumes.

Maybe Miles could learn something from one or more of the dead bodies that would be cause for Ben's banishment?  Maybe Widmore was just covering his bases?  In case they can't take him, have reason for the Others to send him away?

Episode 5x13 / Re: The Gloating Thread, MILES CHANG
« on: April 16, 2009, 01:14:16 PM »
I never argued against it but to those who guessed that Chang was Miles Dad,

Congratulations your theory is proven
I think many of us agreed on this... it was one of the more obvious ones.

True that, but how shocking was it for TPTB to directly give us an answer we were all curious about?? I for one was floored when Miles straight up said, "that guy is my father." even though I "knew" Chang was Miles's dad.
You know they wouldn't have just handed it to us if we were at all in doubt.

Episode 5x13 / Re: Daniel is from Ann Arbour?
« on: April 16, 2009, 01:12:43 PM »
I'm guessing he left the island 3 yrs ago (they were all supposed to leave via the sub in 2wks), did more research, and did a little time travel to the Orchid at a point in time just before his return in last night's episode.  At some point during the past 3yrs, he got involved with the DI and proved his value to them.

Okay, so Shakey said this at the same time in less sentences.
LOL... a few less.

I don't get why we're guessing who they were after... we were told who they were after.  Daniel said it, Keamy said it, probably others that I don't even remember.

Episode 5x12 / Re: Des and Penny Live
« on: April 16, 2009, 01:00:43 PM »
We've seen pretty much everyone who has been truly effected by the island start to evolve into a better version of themselves...I'm not sure why Ben would be any different. Keeping Ben as a homicidal manipulator purely for the sake of entertainment might not align too well with where the overall story was always meant to be headed...as well as I think it's far more intriguing and realistic for Ben to have his own inner demons and issues centering around young mothers dying while their children are still very young. That's THE one area Ben draws a line at...and having Ben even HAVE a line TO draw to begin with makes him more interesting in my eyes. Much better than him being a killing machine devoid of emotions or inner conflict and driven solely by revenge.

What he said.
Ditto.

Episode 5x13 / Re: Dead Guy Miles had to Transport
« on: April 16, 2009, 12:51:31 PM »
I doubt it.  He died long before the Purge.  I don't know how his body would end up on top of a pile of bodies like that.  But I think it's a good guess that he was helping construct the Swan station, and got too close to whatever electromagnetic source they tapped there and it caused his filling to fly through his head.
Different guy.  But, what I was thinking was that he was digging when it happened.  It sounded to me like he was more or less stationary when it happened.  Therefore, either something moved closer to him or something was engaged (turned on).

Or maybe there was some kind of surge and the electromagnetivity just went into overdrive.
Right.  Something happened that wasn't happening when he started digging.  It wasn't a result of him moving too close to something.

I also thought she was referring to Ben.  It would be really interesting to see what all those dead bodies(in the DHARMA grave) would have to say to Miles.
I could see Miles getting pissed off because they won't talk one at a time. LOL

Episode 5x13 / Re: Bram and Ilana’s Mystery Team
« on: April 16, 2009, 11:18:00 AM »
I originally believed Ben was behind Ilana transporting Sayid since he was the one who could have known which bar Sayid had gone to after the church.  And, now, thinking about the exchange between Ben, Ilana and Bram on the beach makes me think it's even more likely.  Ben asked if they needed help and then told them to have a good morning (or good day, whatever)... this seems entirely out of character for Ben.  It was almost like a "Hey guys... ready to get started?".

Cesar wasn't part of the team which made it very easy to kill him (one less obstacle for his team after Ben goes to the main island) while getting a little more trust from John.  He set it up so that Cesar would confront John and provide Ben with a reason to shoot him.

So, Tom intercepts Felix, kills him and takes the documents.  Almost seems too simple... we're really not supposed to figure things out this easily so it must be wrong. LOL

We know it's Ben because we were told that when the Freightees got onto the island.  Daniel said they were sent for Ben.

We know that the photo's and order ended up in Tom's hotel in New York, because he showed them to Michael.
So I guess Tom killed Felix.
Oh, nice!  I forgot that was where we saw this stuff.

Does anyone recall if Miles said that Felix delivered the stuff to Widmore or that he was simply attempting to do it?
