Episode 4x06 / Re: Whispers
« on: March 08, 2008, 04:59:40 PM »
I think the whispers are connected to Jacob (see my other post )

My theory is that Jacob is tied to that cabin of his and cannot move (maybe he is imprisoned - hence the "Help Me"), but he sends others to do his chores (The Others kidnapping the kids and so on) with his, shall we say, blessings (the whispers). He can also manipulate energy in order to appear as people (as I think he did with Harper) - whispers again. I know it's vague, but it's all I can think of right now.

But who says Ben was coocking a chemical reaction? It's just a supposition. And I don't see why they had to run and knock out Kate when they could have just explained the whole thing to Jack & co and they could have gone together.

Plus, did you see how Charlotte aimed for Juliet's head with the lead pipe? That hit could have been fatal. It looks to me that the mission, whatever it is, is far more important then the lives of our losties.

I think Charlotte knows more ten Dan, because Dan really seems like a good guy, and you can see when he has a moral dilemma. But C.S. never wants to disclose any info to the losties, so I'm guessing there is a reason for that - the plan cannot be given away to the people on the island.

Episode 4x06 / Re: So Mister Benjamin Linus..... and his buddy Smokey

As some other people said before - it's Jacob, not Smokie.

Jacob is trying to protect the island, therefore he doesn't want the boat people to disable its defense system. So he tries to manipulate someone (Juliet) who has the power (gun) to stop them. He appears in the form of Harper (to whom Juliet feels in debt) and pretends to be sent by Ben (who Juliet sometimes can't help obeying) in order to stop the people from poisoning the island (another lie of Jacob).

I think the Others are just Jacob's servants. Remember Jacob's list? He wanted those children so he sent the others to get them. Hence the whispers appearing on that occasion. The whispers appear again here. We know they're connected to the others, and since they serve Jacob, they could come from Jacob.

I don't think it was really Harper because she could have easily gone and shot them herself. Furthemore, I don't see how she could communicate with Ben. I am convinced Ben had nothing to do with harper appearing. He's locked up in his bloody cell (up until now). Jacob simply used the image of Harper and the hint of Ben in order to manipulate Juliet.

Crackpot theory: what if the Tempest is actually controlling Smokie ? And by disabling it, Smokie is no more. In this case, maybe Jacob can't control Smokie, yet Smokie protects Jacob (and the island).

Episode 4x06 / Re: Who's the alpha female on the island now?
« on: March 08, 2008, 04:00:33 PM »
Juliet is the alpha female since she has two powers (violence and seduction). Russeau only has one.

Charlotte and Dan are still lying. But then again, who isn't? I mean, if they were doing such a good deed why not tell everybody?
I don't understand why the Losties are buying their lies. Why don't they ask them what exactly are they here for? And if mr. nice guy doesn't work, maybe Locke's truth serum (the mouth grenade) isn't such a bad ideea after all.

Episode 4x06 / Re: I have a feeling that juliet is going to die soon
« on: March 08, 2008, 03:54:34 PM »
I hope she won't die, I kind of like her.

She has proven to be the most powerful (beat Kate and Charlotte) and seductive (Ben, Goodwin, Jack etc.) woman on the island. And she has that lost puppy look  :P How could anyone kill her?

From the moment I saw the scene I thought of his mother.
It's so typical Freud. He never got the chance to meet his mother so he is trying to replace her with Juliette.
It may seem shocking but it's just a missed Oedipus syndrome. Although it's strange, since he never got a chance to develop that syndrome.
Anyway, the lack of a woman in Ben's life is quite obvious - as shown in the goofy dinner.

Episode 4x05 / Don't forget the Tree of Life
« on: March 06, 2008, 09:18:26 PM »
OK, so we have Dan's journal, the drawing(map) and a possible sephiroth representation - don't know what to make of it: science reunited with religion... man of science AND of faith...

Could each hatch be linked to a sephiroth? There are apparently 10 Sephiroth in the Kabballah (who are linked together to form the Tree of Life), and your reunited maps show 10 circles. But which is which?

I'm not very keen on Judaic mysticism. Maybe someone else could shed some light.

Episode 4x04 / Re: Aaron and Island Time
« on: February 22, 2008, 10:04:06 PM »
I think the whole Aaron growing thing is pretty bizzare, I mean, how long can you delay a trial?
And another thing: wouldn't Aaron have remembered his real mother? Now I'm not sure about that one.

Id doesn't make sense for Cristian to appear to the dog or to Hurley as Jacob, because he has nothing in common with them. Therefore, I think that he might be alive, or at least ressurected by the island, maybe even posessed. But I don't think he's just another incarnation of whatever, because the other ones (horse, Emi, Hurley;s invisible buddy) were only seen by the relevant people.

Plus, what is the point of communicating with the dog? Why does a figment of your imagination need to "find" you??? I believe that Christian is flesh and bone, or sort of.

Episode 4x04 / Re: Locke, Miles and the Grenade
« on: February 22, 2008, 09:32:37 PM »
Man, if I were Miles I would have dropped the grenade and kicked it while Locke was still in the room, or tried kicking it so that it goes through the door while it was open. That would have been the only way to test the dud-ness of it. Plus it would have been cool.

Episode 4x03 / How many people are on the boat?
« on: February 20, 2008, 07:18:35 PM »
I'm not sure if it has been asked before, but do we know how many people are on the boat?
And what exactly is their part? Who are they? Who is Minkowski, and who is the girl who answered Faraday?
Do they know that the fantastic four are held prisoners?

Episode 4x03 / Re: Why is Ben Sayids Boss off the island?
« on: February 20, 2008, 07:12:15 PM »
About Kate's redemption...
I'm not sure, but if someone is declared dead isn't he absolved of his sentence, even if (s)he "comes back to life"?

Episode 4x03 / Re: The Truth
« on: February 17, 2008, 09:26:31 PM »
Last season's finale first got me wondering whether "the others" are really that bad, but most of all, whether the losties are really that good.

Fact: The Others didn't kill ONE lostie.
Fact: The Losties  massacred the Others (beginning with Ethan and ending with the unnecessary EXECUTION of mr. Friendly who was in fact rather friendly), not to mention the way they TORTURED Ben (and still do - random beatings, leash etc.). I mean he may not be a saint, but he like all people has the right to dignity

I mean, sure, they kidnapped the kids and held the losties prisoners, but they neither tortured or seriously injured them. They had lots of chances to kill them, but they didn't.

I'm guessing the writers needed to eliminate them from the show, but the way I see it, there is a hell of a lot of bad karma floating above the losties camp.

Not to mention them killing each other (Michael, Anna Lucia) or Jack's "I'm going to kill him" said twice (refering to Ben and then Locke). And now Said gets his hands dirty.

Look at it this way: all the losties care about is their own interest (getting home mostly), and they will kill whoever it takes to do it. At least the others might of had an unselfish reason for doing what they did (yes, even the purge). We don't know that for sure, but it's possible.

"Knowing" them from day one, I too sympathize withe the losties, but it's obvious that the blood is on their hands.

In fact, it's all about POWER. The others had the upper hand in the beginning, but now the losties do, and they're beggining to act like the others did, taking prisoners (the boat crew, anyone?) and giving orders. Power truly corrupts, and I foresee that more blood will be shed this season, and the losties will be the killers.

P.S. Mikhail did kill Charlie, but he wasn't really an other

Episode 4x03 / Re: Sayid getting "in touch" with the island
« on: February 17, 2008, 05:05:11 PM »
Well, muslims have to pray 4-5 times a day, from what I know. They lay out their rug and in their knees, facing Mecca, they pray, so I don't think it had anything to do with the island.
What strikes me is the bracelet. I think that determined Sayid's interest in Naomi.
