Episode 6x08 / Re: Ricardo-Jacob: Are you the Devil?
« on: March 26, 2010, 03:11:07 PM »
Oh my god people. I have only been around here for 3 seasons but I have never seen any hostility around here till these past few episodes. I know we're all getting stressed cause Lost is ending but holy crap... where is the civility?

It died along with Jacob...

They lose their focus because now, there is no last ditch effort.  Faraday is dead and he was the only one capable of halting the island madness.  As for Sawyer well, he just spent 3 years of his life living in peace.  No conning, no running, no looking over his shoulder plus he was finally able to settle down with a women he truly loved and live a respectable life.  He had been redeemed and because of Faraday, not Jack, everything went to hell.  I don't see this version of Sawyer being selfish, I see a man who attained what he really wanted out of life only to have it stripped away.

Also, three years had passed for all the losties, no matter what time they were in.  People change.

Kate's issue is somewhat different.  Yea she chases after Sawyer just like she always would have but her reasoning seems muddled.  She didn't go out there just for Sawyer, in fact I think she doesn't know the real reason she took off.  What I believe is that somehow Kate is connected to Claire in a big way.  I don't know if its centered around Aaron or what but Kate and Claire have really been intertwined since the initial 6 left the island.  I feel that subconsciously Kate is looking for Claire.

Season 6 / Re: So, where's home?

With all the old Egyptian artifacts (tapestry, statue, stuff) wouldn't a possible explanation be that they are fallen Egyptian Gods?  And MIB/Esau/Flocke wants to go home to the Egyptian God Heaven via the temple?

The story of Jacob and Esau states that in the latter years of Jacob's life is when he and his family moved to Egypt at the request of his son Joseph, who at that time was viceroy to the Pharaoh.  Not that Lost is following this story to a T but by the time Jacob had anything to do with Egypt, he and Esau had already "made up" and even when Jacob died his body was taken back to Canaan to be buried with the rest of his family.

With that said, I do subscribe to the idea that Jacob is an omnipotent being and even though he is now dead, he still effects the island and those that are attached to it, including smokey/MIB/Esau.

One more intersting tidbit, Benjamin was the name of the last child Jacob sired.  It was during Benjamin's birth that Jacobs true love Rachel died.  Rachel was also Josephs mother and Joseph and Benjamin were Jacobs favorite children.

Wasn't Rachel also the name of the girl that made that doll for Ben on his birthday??

Wow good catch I hadn't made that connection!  I do believe that her name was Rachel.  AH and Ben's mother also died while giving birth to him!  Her name was Emily though... hmmm

edit: Annie was the name of the girl that gave Ben the doll.

Episode 6x01 / Re: Nice to meet you...or see you again?

My thoughts:

If the island had blown up in this timeline we have to ask ourselves an extremely important question: Would Widmore have sponsored that race around the world if the island had been submerged for 30 years?

If he doesn't sponsor that boat race Desmond doesn't participate.

If Desmond doesn't participate he doesn't do the Tour de Stad because he has nothing to train for.

If he doesn't do the Tour de Stad he consequently never meets Jack.

If he never meets Jack then he wouldn't, obviously, recognize him.

This.

Also it must be assumed that since the island went under in 77 Desmond would never have been involved in anything on the island yet he still exists and leads a normal life before the race.  The question that should be posed is this, does Widmore give birth to Penny.  If so, then it is very possible that Des still meets Penny in an unaltered way (they met at the monastery) minus all the race and search drama of that perticular time lines future.  If not, then Des is just a normal guy doin his thing.  Either way the island is sunk and Des is alive and well.

I personally believe Des made an appearance on the plane to tell us directly that the events that took place from the beginning of the series  (2004 island time, to the past, leading up to the bomb going off) as well as events leading up to the original plane crash were greatly altered.  Think that there was a 27 year gap between the bomb going off and the "non plane crash".  All those flashbacks from previous seasons mean very little in this new current time line.

With this line of thinking Des would be free of the island during the time of this flight and thus could easily be inserted as one of the passengers in this now current timeline.  It has been noted elsewhere in these forums that some of the other original losties weren't seen on the plane, maybe because they never got on the plane in this time line.

None of this is enough to deny Jacob of his meddling however.  He seems to be an omnipotent being and no amount of water will keep him from his goals.  Because of this I believe that the Island is not done with our favorite characters even in this post non crash time line.

Episode 4x05 / Re: They Can Change the Future...

i think, we will learn that current dan (i like that better than future dan) is having the same "flashes."  he was exposed to high levels of radiation (wasn't that radiation?) when doing his experiments.  at least his head was.  when he came to the island i think it fried his connections too.  but, because of his knowledge he's not acting as loony as desmond.

Wouldn't he be falling over on the ground if that were the case?

Although I do acknowledge the memory problems...from the playing cards last week.

not neccissarily.  i think dan could handle the flashes a lot differently becuase he is prepared and knows whats going on.  and maybe his only last a few seconds.  they already think he's weird, so if he freezes for a few seconds who cares?

I do believe one has to inhabit the island then leave to have the effect that Des is experiencing.  The man in the sick bay said himself they wanted to see the island and they went there, then on the way back he starts to flip out(can't remember if he mentioned anything about being exposed to lots of radiation).  I see this phenomenon as working like our atmosphere(except going out is worse then going in)  The only reason he would have wrote that note to himself in the past was because he knows how much radiation he's been exposed to.  As for his memory problems, again look to the radiation.

There it is, just trying to bring something significant to the forefront  :)  IMO this is the best mystery going right now.

I can't imagine that nobody noticed something very telling in last weeks episode and also, that it hasn't been discussed thoroughly already.  However, I haven't seen anything amongst the posts that spoke to this episode so here goes.

While Locke's group was wandering the jungle and I believe it was before they met with the other female jumper, Hurley let something slip that, for some reason, he wanted kept to himself (there is a history of people not communicating things both normal and weird that happened to them on the island, in fact I've only noticed Hurley ever speaking up about some of the stranger things).  He admitted half consciously that he had seen AND knows about Jacobs Cabin(he doesn't know about Jacob just the cabin).  The second he spoke those words both Locke and Ben's eyes lite up with surprise while nobody else reacted.  I assume this to mean you must be "special" in order to even see the cabin.

Now with that said, how is it that Hurley is a "special" person on the island.  If Locke and Ben aren't the only one's on the Island that would be deemed "special" then whoelse besides Hurley could be?

Could be nothing but this is Lost, you just never know.
