Episode 6x16 / Re: It was perfect.
« on: May 24, 2010, 12:05:53 PM »
I was satisfied with the ending also (especially since Sawyer and Juliet "recognized" each other.) I'm not religious, but I am spiritual, so I was very happy with the show depicting an eternity that is not connected with any one religion or belief. I think that just because we saw the same character's physical appearance in both reality and the sideways, that their "touching and remembering" each other was more a metaphor for how each person was an eternal soul-energy and that it was through their connections that they recognized each other, not through their physical appearance. It was an uplifting ending for me - I sat there crying and smiling simultaneously :)

VL - I agree on how moving the connection moments were and how 'right' those moments felt.

I just wish that the story had either spent more time on the relationships all along or tied up some of the hanging threads more neatly.

The stained glass window in the back of the church - lots of different symbols in the panels

It wasn't all in Jack's head at all.   Only the Sideways stuff wasn't real

Then why did they show the devastated plane wreckage at the end?  I thought that made it clear that there were no survivors of the original flight.

Episode 6x16 / Re: So were there any survivors of 815?

Everybody died.
Eventually, Kate, Saywer, lapidus, miles, claire all went on and lived lives off the island for varying degrees of time.

How do you get there?  Yes, they were all on the flight that Jack saw leave, but that flight never happened - - it was all in his head.  No flight, no plane to take them away, no survivors.

Episode 6x16 / St Elsewhere?
« on: May 24, 2010, 01:14:50 AM »
I am really disappointed that they pulled a St Elsewhere ending on us - - it will all in Jack's head.

Even the parts that had nothing to do with him . . .
Even the numbers...
The elaborate Jacob/MiB drama . . .

It felt to me that they were brining together all of the threads . . . and then just gave up and went for the most pat version of the story, negating all of the clever story craft that came before.

Here's the thing - I'm as sad about losing this little community as I am about finishing Lost!

I feel like I'm getting to the end of the book - the pages in my right hand keep getting thinner - - and my bookish friends won't be around to discuss it either :-\

oh I never heard of this but I do have great chocolate truffles Dizzy Beckster gave me so I will nibble on those

Bollinger is our favorite, for the taste and for this quote from Lilly Bollinger:  的 drink it when I知 happy and when I知 sad. Sometimes I drink it when I知 alone. When I have company I consider it obligatory. I trifle with it if I知 not hungry and drink it when I am. Otherwise, I never touch it蓉nless I知 thirsty.

Sawyer giving out nicknames...

Agreed - Freckles, Jabba, etc

Sawyer uses a nick name - drink
Hurley says "dude" - drink
Desmond says "brotha" - drink
Jack does the "look away, then look back acting" while talking, or someone is talking to him - drink (Click for Example)
Anytime anyone says the word "island" - drink
Everytime MIB turns into the smoke monster - drink
1 shot of tequila per person that makes it off the island, and 2 shots if it's MIB.
A toast and drink to each character that dies.

(Warning: 1 time I invented a Star Wars drinking game, and 1 of the rules was "everytime R2-D2 beeps you drink" that midget droid doesn't shut up for the first 30 mins. of the movie and I didn't even make it to Mos Eisley)

Your poor liver!

I'm gettin' ready!  I've been practicing the 'stink eye' I will give to my children if they attempt to talk or request parenting this evening!

Should've hired a sitter, but then I'd have to explain why I am at home, yelling at the tv and typing and laughing maniacly all at the same time . . .benedryl is easier!

people who look at the cup half empty instead of half full.

Oh, but darling - remember that the cup is always full.  It may be half full of wine and half of air, but it is full!

My new peeve - a glass only half full of wine  ;)

Chatting during one of the episodes this year - and finding us all making the same jokes and predictions!

My daughter is horrified and amazed that someone thinks her mom is funny & Hubby says y'all are my tribe!

Just found this - and sorry that I never got to see us all on the map!

I'm in early mourning for this little tribe of ours.  Someone described "Nostalgia for the present" as a particularly Southern habit - and I clearly have it bad!

That said, I'm in Charlotte by way of Boston from Charleston.

Putting sunscreen on the child before the field trip,
Putting extra zinc on the child'r nose before the field trip,
Placing hat on child's head before the field trip,
Reminding teacher that she REALLY has to keep it on during the field trip,
Getting poo-poo'ed with "of course she will" on the field trip . . .

picking up a child with a sunburned face from the damn field trip . . .

and teacher saying she didn't realize child was so succeptible to sunburn.

Off to beat my head against a wall somewhere.
