Episode 5x16 / Re: Rose and Barnard!!
« on: May 18, 2009, 06:51:12 PM »
I was very uneasy knowing that they were somewhere on the Island and we had no idea where for almost all of this season. But now that we know where they are and what they've been up to, I feel like this chapter is closed. I think they're great characters, but I don't see any need to revisit their story lines to further the plot/mystery.

Episode 5x16 / Re: Radzinsky & Phil
« on: May 18, 2009, 04:51:10 PM »
Radzinsky had to remain alive... he ends up working in the Swan statiomn (hatch) with Kelvin.

Oh yeah!! I hate both characters! Was hoping something would happen to Radzinsky too, but then my husband reminded me that he can't be dead because he's the one that made the blast door map.

That's my point exactly, they caused the incident. So nothing in the past has changed and whatever happened happened. How great would it be if they all died and its just Sun, Richard and Flocke as the only original characters left?

ok,
how can they possibly finish building the station now ?
with all that electromagnetism sucking all the tools and cranes down there's no way to finish construction, install computers and electronic equipment
no computer is going to work with that much electromagnetism around ?

what are they going to do, mix concrete with rubber shovels, carry it with plastic wheelbarrows, fill up the hole to try and stop the sucking and then build everything over that extremely dangerous spot ?

that makes no sense, at least not to me it doesn't

I don't see how the station can be built now or how any video can be made

You're forgetting one minor detail... the detonation of a hydrogen bomb. Sure, tools were flying before, but we have no idea what will happen once that fade-to-white dissolves.

Smokie is not a DI invention.  We saw the hieroglyphs on the wall and smokie is being called out.

also why would smokey judge Ben who is an other?

The hieroglyphs could very well be a prophecy of a smoke monster that will one day rise if the chosen leader returns and kills his father. We've never seen Smokey before Russou's arrival.

Episode 5x14 / Re: Charlotte

Which Daniel are you talking about "in 1977"? The unborn one, or the one who was just sent back through time? If you mean the adult Daniel was not a basket case in 1977, that is because he was recently healed by the Island upon his return. Before coming back to the Island, he was a basket case. The only reason he came back was because his mother and Widmore orchestrated his return - not because he had a plan to change history with his new variable theory. He could barely tie his own shoes.

Wait, I think you and I are getting our Daniel's mixed up. First and Foremost, I'm not talking about the parasite that Elloise is pregnant with, so when I say Daniel, that shouldn't even be in your head.

As far as the Daniel that is in 1977, that is the same one that came to the island in 2004. Now, when he got to the island, yes, there was something wrong with his brain, but after the FDW got turned, he seemed to get better and more focused. I think that was when the healing process was finished.

BUT, the daniel that is on the island in 1977 (the one I originally was posting about) came back to the island (from Ann Arbour) because he had the variable theory, and wanted to change things.

OH!!! Back to the Island from ANN ARBOUR!!! We were talking about the same Daneil, just different return trips to the Island! OK, let me go back and re-read everything...

Yeah, I'm with you now :)

Episode 5x15 / Re: How about that awful CGI with the submarine?

I think the sub is a rouse, they're in it for 5-10 minutes and then get taken somewhere else and then flown somewhere...hence the reason for being "a sleep"...

I am trying to figure out how Sawyer Kate and Juliet end up on the island (I assume they do and from the preview I think they do) and other like baby miles and his Mom, Charlotte etc, get back to the states (again like I assume they do).

The sub is a rouse would sure help make it work -  ;D Maybe the CGI was bad because it is really a fake ;D

I can't believe they actually showed us those 3 back on the island in the preview, wouldn't it have been better to let us "think" they've left for one week? Then we start questioning the sub and where it goes.

That's EXACTLY why many of us choose not to watch the previews!!!

I still see no reason for Dan to tell Charlotte at all. What was she 5? How is telling her going to save her life?

Mom, Dad I know you are busy with your research for this Dharma company and all but a creepy guy just came up to me while I was on the swing eating chocolate before dinner like I am not allowed to. He told me that I need to leave the island and never return or I will die. So lets get our bags packed and get off of this island and return to the UK.

I think he told her for him. Not for her. He obviously wants to try and help her and that was the best he could do. He hadn't realized the whole "variable" theory yet so I doubt he thought that warning her would actually do any good. But he felt he had to at least do something.

I'm pretty sure he had the idea about the variable(s) theory. Why else come back to the island??

Why would he come back to the Island? Because he was a mental basket case, Widmore wanted him to go, and his mom told him it would make her proud.

He was so not a mental basket case back in 1977. He was fine at that point (except for the losing Charlotte issue). And Widmore and his mother wanted him to go when he was in 2004, so the issue of making his mother proud is null and void at this point.

I don't trust her and I don't like her. I believe she is an Other who has infiltrated the DI. Ethan was born an Other.

« on: May 08, 2009, 06:26:35 AM »
I expect Jack to accomplish his mission by setting off the detonation close to the source of the electromagnetic radiation under the Swan, and THIS is what later must be contained by pushing the button every 108 minutes. So, in an attempt to prevent the crash of 815, Jack CAUSES it! Whatever happened happened.

The CGI was bad enough to make me comment out loud about it - and there's NO TALKING during Lost! But first prize would have to go to Ben's Smokey encounter from Dead Is Dead.

How much do you think it cost to create the CGI submarine for that scene? More than the cost of renting a real one for a day?

Sun did not go back because Jin made Locke promise not to bring her back.

My guess is that the tunnels have many exits, one being somewhere inside the Dharma barracks fence (also the reason why Richard can bypass the fence). Maybe that's where they'll take it out, scaring the sh*t out of Radzinsky & co. Or maybe they'll take it to some other exit.

One exit appears to be in Ben's closet.

Aren't most people happy with the last episode of every season of Lost? And the first episode of every season? And most of the episodes in between? Why would anyone think that the same amazing talent that brought us all those memorable moments would suddenly produce anything other than what we've come to expect? Why are people's expectations changing all of a sudden?

Episode 5x14 / Re: Why doesn't Richard recognize Daniel?
« on: May 01, 2009, 07:58:18 AM »
Most people seem to believe that Richard doesn't age. Why is that? Simply because we've seen him appearing the same age at different points in time? Haven't we also seen Daniel (and others) appear to be the same age in 1952, 1977, and 2005? Does this mean that Daniel never ages? All I'm saying is that it is possible that Richard ages the same as everyone else, he's just bouncing through time like our heroes and the few times we've seen him could have all been within the same year of his life/timeline (minus that hippy phase he went through). Food for thought.
