Episode 6x04 / Rousseau/Claire Similarities and Differences
« on: February 25, 2010, 03:57:08 AM »
Would those who have watched older epi's more recently shed a little light?

I was thinking about a couple of things. The other said that Claire kept picking their people off. Rousseau did the same thing to her team. They're both out setting traps--assuming they are for others. Both said that their baby was "stolen" from them. Wondering if Ben's story (anyone remember this more) is true--that he "found" Alex in the jungle? Could be similar to Kate and Aaron.

One more thought. The others are saying that Sayid and Claire are "infected". But wasn't that the word that Danielle used for her teammates? That they all got "sick" and she had to kill them? (Even her husband/lover?) Seems to me like they are giving us clues that she was the sick one.
But also clues about Claire.

Danielle was left alone in the jungle for years. MIB/Smokey didn't approach her at all. And the others seem to assume that without the pill, people like this are just "lost" (haha). It seems like MIB is just doing whatever he feels will help him to kill off his enemies. Claire seems just as paranoid and full of blame as Danielle. Looks like MIB is just using that in Claire to his advantage at the moment.

General Spoiler Talk / Re: "The term flash might cease to mean anything"

Have been wondering if the "future" scenes that we have been watching will become irrelevant because the Oceanic 6 will go back to the island and change it. It feels like somehow, the island is a bit like the Dalorean from Back to the Future. We have already seen that it is a-time. There are people on it that do not seem to age. Events happen sooner than off of it (the dead man floating to the beach before he dies) and later than off of it (the rocket sent by the ship to Daniel, who was timing it).

However, I believe the reason that they "all" must go back (even Locke) is because the island can cause multiple realities for people (Like Marty's girlfriend who met her older self).

Hence, the Losties may be able to change their futures (and possibly their pasts?) making the flashes irrelevant!!  Who likes this idea? (And it's implecations...) :-D

One of the things that has bothered me since the end of last season is why every other episode contained flash forwards, but in the episode Ji Yeon, most people assume that Sun was Flashing Forward, but Jin was Flashing Back?

I do understand that Jin said that he had only been married for 2 months. And, that he attended the birth of someone else's baby. However, people do marry other people--if their spouses are dead or they believe them to be dead.

So, I am wondering if Jin has also flashed forward, but in some alternate reality, he believes Sun to be dead (on the island or otherwise) and has married someone else? Has he gone back to work for his old boss, grieved his wife's death, and finally remarried? Everyone assumes that he was referring to Sun when he said he was married.

I believe they may have both been flashing forward. Thoughts anyone?

AND let's not forget that Naomi had a picture of Penny and Desmond. So, they know who he is, who she is, and they are still clearly avoiding her!

(And there's another agenda besides Ben...)

Hmmm. That's an interesting thought. Like, maybe Des WAS supposed to be with Penny? And by needing the constant in the future, and causing his past self to go back and beg for her number, that he corrected a future so that she would come looking for him?

Awwww... ::)

max, I kinda like that theory. The Oceanic people...who we are assuming are somehow connected with these corporate boat people, decided to tell Frank that he might be right that they were alive? and that he would have the chance to help them find out if any had really survived? (and now he is realizing the truth??)

The thing I think is kinda funny is how the boat people seem annoyed that two from the island were brought back to the boat.  (Frank just classifies them as Oceanic survivors, even though Desmond is not.) But, they seem actually annoyed that people were rescued from there! Like, we are only here to find Ben, but you people have to stay put?! :-\

But if it was just a hailing call, how did the boat people know that it originated from her? And, they seemed to imply that she was calling directly. Jumbo, I think that she was telling Charlie the truth, and didn't start calling the boat until she spoke to him for the first time.

Also, what would be the harm in answering? Why would the people in charge be so afraid of Penny finding out what they were doing/finding Des???

Still, they wouldn't hire a guy just because he felt guilty.  He must have something else to recommend him. They could choose from any number of pilots. And, if guilt were his specific agenda, wouldn't that mean that he would have worked out a plan with the leaders he met (Jack, Juliet, Kate, or even Sayid) to rescue the rest of the survivors?

He seems to be at least generally doing his job--just flying back and forth. Not on a guilted agenda of rescue.

Can we also do a reminder on what we know about Minkowski?

And for that did Penny get the number for the Looking Glass hatch?

Episode 4x05 / Penny had the number for their boat??
« on: February 29, 2008, 12:20:04 AM »
So how do we think Penny got the number? They said she kept calling. And, they knew it was her.

If the boat wasn't "inside" the field of the island, could't Penny's boat have just traced the location of this boat?

Why would she "keep" calling, even if they hadn't found anything? He seems to imply that she called alot!!

Episode 4x05 / Frank's Role?
« on: February 29, 2008, 12:12:00 AM »
Why is Frank "helping" Desmond and Sayid? If the people on Not Penny's Boat can't be trusted (or at the least he doesn't respect their authority), why did he bring them back there in the first place?

Do you think he just took the job for money? Because he was supposed to be flying their plane, did he have a secret agenda to help them if they were found?

Has he just recently decided to help them the more that he learns about his co-workers?

What do you think?

They made sure we knew it seemed longer to the people on the island, but I did not catch any reference to the boat people thinking it took longer.
They DID call the boat in the last episode, remember? They called and asked if their friends had landed yet!

I was really interested in this too. They landed at mid-day.  At mid-day of the same day? The previous day? The next day?

They said that it should have taken 20 minutes. And to those on the helicopter, it felt like a short time. But, a good deal of time actually passed while they were flying. (For both the boat and the island, right?)

It's really confusing though.. The past was changed as well as the future.. Isn't that what Mrs Hawking was saying couldn't be done?

Or was she saying it SHOULDN'T be done?  I think she meant that there were certain unavoidable events that would happen, maybe slightly differently, but that they would still happen...
