Episode 6x01 / Re: "Good to see you out of those chains"
« on: February 03, 2010, 01:22:36 AM »
Yeah, I am likin' the theory that Jacob has taken over Sayid's body -- like MIB has somehow "used" Locke's persona (but not his actual body) to take over too.

So, will this Jacob/MIB rivalry continue on forever? Has it already been going on forever? (Egyptians, etc.) And we're seeing only the most recent incarnation?

That'd explain Jacob and MIB sitting on the beach last season watching a ship coming in, knowing they'd seen this all before. The modern-day version is the plane landing, and the subs coming -- people always showing up, in whatever mode of transportation they have at the time.

And Jacob and MIB continue to struggle against each other above the fray....using the folks who show up to try to outdo each other.

I noticed Claire wasn't on the plane either (or at least, we didn't see her). Is this because, in this alternate timeline, she is not giving up her baby for adoption or is not pregnant at all?

Between that and Hurley saying he's a lucky guy (which he did NOT believe in the original timeline when he got on that plane), I'm convinced that the bomb going off must have changed the future. (Remember "Back to the Future" at the end when Marty sees his parents and siblings now successful?)

Episode 6x01 / Re: Have we seen glasses Hippy Dude before?

Hippie dude actor is John Hawkes.  He has done lots of movies and TV.  He was in Deadwood and A Perfect Storm.
Yes, and the man who tortured Sayid was also in Deadwood (played the hotel owner).... So, this is now four Deadwood actors who've appeared on Lost!

Episode 6x01 / Re: Temple people
« on: February 03, 2010, 12:40:11 AM »
Yeah, I think the groups are a bit fluid. Remember during the season on the second island, the flight attendant and a few of the kids go by the cages and are recognized. So we've seen her and those kids with Ben and the Others.

My guess is that the group split up when they left Dharmaville, and the Ben group was eventually going to head back to the temple once they did whatever it is they had to do.

And of course, if the groups were separate or at odds with each other -- what would the flare have meant? It seems it was a signal to the group outside the temple that they had to scurry back before they refortified it and closed it up for good, for safety against Smokey now that Jacob was dead.

Well, I'm going to start calling him the Man In Black SMOKE, since he's the smoke monster (which is why they were giving us hints at the end of season 5 by dressing him in black).

I assumed Richard said "YOU!" merely because he finally figured out who he was. And I'm guessing he hadn't seen him for whatever reason he also hadn't seen Jacob in person all that time. Plus, it seems the Man In Black has been cloaking himself as the Smoke Monster off and on throughout the decades... and Richard might have had a hard time recognizing him for that reason too.

It's like everyone suddenly realized that Jacob being dead ipso facto meant that the Man In Black was now in charge.

Season 6 / Re: Raise your hand if....

Actually, I didn't. I teared up more with all the pain on Sawyer's face every time he realized that he'd lost Juliet for nothing. Gahhh....

Episode 5x16 / Re: A red herring... litteraly!!

Okay, that's pretty funny.

Snaps to you for that one.   ;D ;D

Well, when BSG was ending, we were discussing around here that the time travel idea would have worked with THAT show's ending too. Then we just laughed that the odds of two shows using time travel were a bit much... although then we realized we liked our time travel idea better than what actually happened in BSG.  :)

But yes, the themes seems similar or at least complementary: Whatever happened happened... and This will all happen over again.

Time loops. Historical loops (broader arcs).

And in the beginning Jacob even says that when "Esau" figures out the loophole, "I'll be right here."

And sure enough -- as we see later -- he IS!  :D

Episode 5x16 / Re: Hahahahahahahaha! That ending was so awesome!

I'm not convinced that the bomb even went off. I think it could just as easily be one of the many types of flashes we've seen before. It could simply have been that first energy emission Chang had been fearing -- finally going off, and conveniently timed for us to make it seem as if Juliet set off the bomb.

In which case, whatever happened, happened. And the past still cannot be changed. The hatch will have to be built ... and we start the final season with Jack's eye opening lying on the ground as he was in the first season ... but this time right around the hatch area and everything continues just as it had been.

Or, if it sparked a time flash, perhaps all are now in present day and regrouped...

Game on, story on, forward motion....

Episode 5x16 / Re: watch... the bomb probably didn't do ballsheet
« on: May 14, 2009, 01:31:08 AM »
I'm still not convinced that the bomb even went off. The bright flash we saw at the end looks exactly like the flashes we've seen before -- from the Desmond/key/EMT thing right up to the time flashes of this season.

So perhaps what happened there at the end was simply the first EMT thing of the energy emission ... and not the bomb at all. And so the cycle starts as it always has: What happened, happened.

Jugdish, LOL! IMDB has him listed simply as "Man #2."  Oh well.... we wait for a name.

Episode 5x16 / Re: Richard telling Locke he had to die

Hmmmm ... Jacob and Esau ... brothers struggling for their father's blessing...or in this case, the island's blessing? It certainly matches up with the two guys in the beginning. I think that the man in black was hairier too ... just like Esau.  :D
