Episode 6x02 / Re: Claire=Rousseau
« on: February 09, 2010, 11:42:44 PM »
Thats an interesting point actually. Zen Man's discussion of the "infection" seems to parallel Rousseau's discussion of what happened to the science team. From there though, all the coincidences get a little hazy, I haven't been able to make sense of them yet.

I agree, it seems like the same result is going to be brought about regardless of whether or not they crash on the island on the first flight. In the recap before the first episode, the narrator discussed for a short period of time the fact that fate has a way of bringing about the desired result regardless of what changes the characters attempt to make. This is also evident in Desmond's multiple attempts to save Charlie's life.

Episode 6x02 / Claire=Rousseau
« on: February 09, 2010, 11:34:22 PM »
At the end of "What Kate Does", we see Claire holding Jin at gunpoint. This combined with Kate and Jin's previous conversation with their two guards about Rousseau's traps made me realize that Claire has essentially become exactly like Rousseau. She gave birth on the island, she lost the one she loved, she loses her baby, and the she disappears. Now Claire reappears after potentially living alone in the jungle for a long period of time looking kind of crazy. She even has Rousseau-looking hair. In addition, if the two guards are sure that Rousseau's traps are no longer a threat, then one might assume that Claire set them. One could assume that the 2nd Other tried to hush up the existence of Claire.

Any thoughts?

Time/agewise, where does Lapidus fall?

Episode 5x16 / Walt
« on: May 22, 2009, 12:59:19 PM »
Walt's significance was never fully explored. He has some sort of talent, something along the lines of when he sees an animal in a book (rare bird or polar bear) and they appear soon after (bird hits window, bear attacks him). I assume he will return to the Island, but what is his power's significance/connection to the Island?

I like the theory that referred to Faraday shooting the flare up and it landing a long time later. With the island jumping through time and not existing in the same place at any single moment, it is concievable that an airdrop got lost. (concievable is a relative term here, as we are talking about Lost).

Henry Gale may have been one of Widmore's earlier attempts to return to the Island, because it seems like he worked hard to explore all the options with getting back.

Henry Gale's balloon said WIDMORE on it, I believe.  So I've always assumed he was Widmore's lackey.  Or maybe he funded some poor guy's "hot air balloon around the world" adventure kind of like Desmond sailing around the world or racing or whatever he was doing

This is brillient, i never thought of Widmore's getting Desmond to sail around the world as an attempt to find the Island. He must have known of the Lamppost and known that both Desmond and Gale would be travelling through a gateway to the Island! Well done!
captaintau, I think the point here is that they weren't accidents!

Here's something else (from Lostpedia):

Alvar Hanso states, "…all of the support you will need, including regular medicine and food drops will be made in perpetuity."

This points to some sort of automatic food drop system, but I can't see how it can still continue.

Episode 5x16 / Dharma Food Drop

Timeout. I completely forgot about it in all the excitement of the current season, but why the hell was there a Dharma food drop in present day?

Episode 5x16 / Biblical References
« on: May 19, 2009, 03:17:31 AM »
I feel like this whole Black Shirt Vs. Jacob directly mirrors the Passion of Christ.

In Lost's recreation, Jacob is Jesus and Ben is Judas. Jacob was well aware of Evil Locke & Ben's intent to kill him. He clearly has some serious supernatural powers, and probably could have stopped Ben from stabbing him, but he didn't. I think that by allowing himself to die, he "frees us from sin", which in context has something to do with maybe freeing/uniting the Losties. I also think, if we're following this Christ idea, that Jacob will somehow rise, perhaps embodied in someone else. Richard's response to Ilana's question translates to "He who will save us all." There is no way that doesn't refer to Jesus. Any thoughts?

"You ever heard of Eval Knieval?"
"No, I never saw Star Wars"

well if he is roughly the age of Charlotte, then he must have been born on the island. She was at least 3 when we first saw her as a child.

ohhh yeah, thanks. But i dont think it has anything to do with being banished, because Locke wasn't banished, and he's back. Granted, he was dead, but i dont know if that affects it.

Hmm, Army is definitely connected to Dharma, because there are US Army intel photos in the Lamppost station. It seems as if Dharma is a sub-project of the US Government.

I think that Jacob is a person, but with some kind of power/ability/connection to the island. It is possible that his sole "power" is that he has all this knowledge of the island locked away in his head, and because of that, the Others view him as some sort of Omnipotent being. When we saw him way back, I got the impression that it is John Locke, and now that the idea of time travel has shown up on the show, it makes it more possible that Locke is indeed Jacob. Why he would take on this new name is kind of unclear, but I'm sure that will all be covered...eventually.

He can't be just a man, because he reaches out and touches (spiritually) everyone. Like when Christian told Michael that he could die now when the freighter blew.
