Episode 6x16 / Re: Finale drinking game ideas?
« on: May 23, 2010, 06:32:34 PM »
If only I didn't have to wake up at 5:30 tomorrow morning for work  =(  Oh well.

I don't think they're trying to be arrogant, I just think that some viewers want EVERYTHING to be part of the mythology/mystery and Cuse/Lindelof didn't necessarily intend for everything to be interpreted as it was.  And I think they also realize that in a show that was very self contained and for which audience interest waned off year by year BECAUSE of the mythology, they would never be able to answer every mythological question.
In the Lord of the Rings, JRR Tolkein could not even answer every mythology-related question - solution?  He wrote the Silmarillion.  I do not see Cuse & Lindelof writing a prequel or putting together a show/movie to fully satisfy EVERY question that came up along the way - whether it was something they intended to have a great mysterious past, or whether it was something to which the audience attached more meaning than was originally intended.  I think it got out of hand and now they're dealing with the fact that, as a whole, they wanted to write a great story with amazing characters and, as they get down to the end, it's the storylines that must be tied up, not all the mythology.
I DO think we'll see things like:
-Something about Walt (I heard he's in the finale)
-What happens to Ji Yeon and Aaron
-Who Kate chooses
-Who David's mother is
-Whether Ben is truly good or evil
... in other words, we'll have finality on character-related things.

I have loved participating in the forum and researching all the nitty gritty details but, in the end, I love the characters and want a great resolution for them.  I warned my husband that I would be very tearful tomorrow night and he said "but no one is dying!  You can see them in other shows and movies!  It's not real!" to which I argued that these characters are my friends who I've come to love over the past 6 years and I will miss them when they go.  Lost has made me feel with the characters and, for that, I thank Cuse and Lindelof.

Episode 6x16 / Re: Rose, Bernard, and Vincent
« on: May 22, 2010, 10:43:27 PM »
It was kind of funny - the actors who play Rose and Bernard were in the audience on Jimmy Kimmel Live last night (Cuse and Lindelof were guests).  Kimmel had asked what questions he should ask them about the Finale.  They were like: "WHAT HAPPENED TO US????"  It was cute.

Like that traitor Ben!

I desperately want to think that Ben is playing FLocke.  I think he is better than this.  I think he was trying to kill Widmore to save Jacob's secret, not to prohibit him from saving his daughter.  Or maybe I just drank the Ben Kool-Aid and loved him in the sideways storyline...

LOST Talk / *giggle*
« on: May 18, 2010, 09:35:46 PM »
Okay, so slightly off topic, but if you would like to LOL before tonight's ep, watch Doc Jensen's "Totally Lost" on ew.com.  If you see nothing else, watch Part 5 where MIB is "counseling" Jacob... but, really, Mark Pelligrino and Titus Welliver are AMAZING!  LOVE them!  Wish we'd had more of them over the past 6 years.

Other than that, having a glass of Riesling from a local winery and getting really excited about the 2nd to last EVER ep of our favorite show!

Episode 6x14 / Re: you wanted answers ? you got answers !
« on: May 12, 2010, 12:06:15 AM »
I say there werr way to many questions un answered. Still don't understand .....
what the light was really about
What does the light do?
How did the light turn him into the MIB?
Who was the lady who raised them? What made her special?
When did the rules get put in place?
Why did Jacob start bringing people to the island?
No idea how a wheel next to water and a light gets people of the island.

I think Jacob started bringing people to the island to find someone to take his place.

THanks!  T
7. Jacob was wanted, MiB wasn't (but he wasn't unwanted either)
8. Jacob never wanted his position
9. Jacob doesn't lie
10. MiB intuitively knows know to do things, knows answers to things - is "special"; Jacob just seems to be... fair?  Honest?
11. MiB planned for the donkey wheel to be built... but who actually built it???
Jacob was not the one who was wanted. MIB was the special one, Jacob got the job because MIB left his mother.

She meant wanted to be born by his birth mother (she only picked out one name, for Jacob.  She hadn't planned for a 2nd son).
Thanks!  That, indeed, was what I meant

Well... if Jacob has a counterpart, does MiB have one too?  Hurley can see dead people...

I just think his mother was trying to protect him from teh evils of humanity.

OR he is too smart and too inventive and maybe he would have done more harm in the outside world than good?

Episode 6x14 / Re: What does this mean for the "new Jacob"?
« on: May 11, 2010, 11:37:31 PM »
I don't think Jack wants to be Jacob. He just wants to stay on the island.

Jacob didn't want to be Jacob, but he knew he was the only one for the job.  I think whoever takes his place will feel the same (and I agree - I think it's Jack)

I posted what I thought in the thread "Desmond is the ONE". I won't type it all here again, but I think he is going to take Jacob's place

This is making a lot of sense to me. And if he's not the new Jacob I can see him being the new Richard even.

And speaking of Desmond, every one who comes to chat on Lost night knows how much I love him and his porn star sunglasses...

I suggested the Des is the new Richard to Jack's new Jacob... I think Sayid said something to the effect of "It's going to be you" and then something like "you're going to need him" ("him" being Desmond) to Jack before he ran away with the bomb.
