Theories & Speculation / The Steven King/Pet Cemetary Theory
« on: April 01, 2009, 07:56:06 PM »
Okay, here is my theory of the day. I just want to get it down so I can post in the I called it thread if it ever turns out to be true.

Young Ben Linus dies of his injuries inflicted by Sayid's gunshot wound. He is buried on-island where he comes back from the dead as Evil Ben Linus a la the pets and young son in the Steven King novel Pet Cemetary.

This may just be far enough out there to be correct given TPTB's affinity for Steven King.

Theories & Speculation / Was Ben really born on the island?
« on: February 03, 2009, 04:39:33 PM »
Consider this... because we see Ben's birth near Portland, we "know" he is lying when he says he was born on the island. But, now we see the island move. Is it possible that the island was landlocked in the wilderness outside of Portland where the Linus family was hiking at the time of Ben's birth? Why did Ben's mom insist on going on the hike (if my memory serves me)? Perhaps Ben was not lying, perhaps he was selected (by Jacob?) to serve the island. Thoughts? Only time will tell ;)

Episode 5x04 / The Little Prince (novella)
« on: January 31, 2009, 12:20:09 PM »
I remember reading The Little Prince in High School.

The author Antoine de Saint-Exupéry was an aviator. The story is about the narrator's meeting of a little prince in the Sahara. The little prince lives on an asteroid with two active volcanoes and one dormant. Though I remember little of the story, Wikipedia describes the essence of the story lies in one of its quotes: "One cannot see well except with the heart, the essential is invisible to the eyes." As well as other themes: "You become responsible, forever, for what you have tamed" and "It is the time you have spent with your rose that makes your rose so important." (The prince thought his rose was the only one of its kind, and became disappointed when he learned there are many like it)

Could Ben be responsible forever for "taming" Jacob? Or, is Richard responsible (he seems to live forever)? At any rate, the wikipedia page is interesting reading...

Theories & Speculation / Locke is not the leader of the Others
« on: January 29, 2009, 10:00:19 AM »
Locke is not the leader of the Others, never has been, never will be. He is just being USED (again) by Ben to get everyone back to the island [insert O6 theory here].

Episode 5x03 / Jughead hype thread
« on: January 28, 2009, 09:35:54 AM »
I can't believe Lostday is finally here!

I can't believe there's no hype thread yet!

Ready to get my Lost on tonight! With me?

Any speculation as to who the Jughead is? Sayid has been doing Ben's bidding and is a soldier.

Episode 5x02 / Is the British Soldier.... Widmore?
« on: January 23, 2009, 11:23:03 AM »
Could Charles Widmore's introduction to the island have been as a soldier sent to control it, escaping assault by the Hostiles vowing to return and exploit its powers?

Spoiler Theories and Speculation / Is Regina up to something???
« on: March 19, 2008, 12:24:50 PM »
I believe TPTB stated in an interview that they were happy to have the actress/stunt woman who played Regina on-board (pun intended) and were perhaps able to use her considerable skills once they had seen what she could do. I expect this would involve more than just jumping off a boat with some heavy chains wrapped around her. Can we expect to see more of her? I think we'll see that her actions were directed at more than just suicide and that her jump into the ocean was purposeful. Any thoughts?

Episode 4x06 / The Other Woman Hype Thread
« on: March 04, 2008, 09:12:49 AM »
We finally get to see some more of Juliet's back story, post-arrival that is! Only 60 hours 48 min to go!

Think we'll see the significance of being "branded?"

Theories & Speculation / Who is Ben's constant?
« on: February 29, 2008, 01:07:59 PM »
Let's assume for a moment that Ben is able to use the island properties (or location) to time travel. This would explain why he is so self assured and seems to be able to predict the future actions of others. Who is his constant? Richard? Annie? Danielle? Is Danielle Annie?

Episode 4x03 / Miles isn't looking for Ben, He's looking for Jacob!
« on: February 17, 2008, 11:20:59 AM »
Miles is just looking for Ben to get to Jacob. What else would a parapsychologist want on the island?

Episode 4x03 / Sayid getting "in touch" with the island
« on: February 17, 2008, 10:57:15 AM »
In the opening scenes, we see Sayid meditating(?) or praying... He then walks directly to Naomi and, in short order, inspects her bracelet. He then proceeds to very successfully barter himself a helicopter ride off the island while ridding himself of the annoying Miles, and returning with Charlotte. His actions seem guided, too perfect. Is he being guided by the island? Jacob? Discuss!

Episode 4x03 / Locke is being used by Ben
« on: February 15, 2008, 12:44:29 PM »
Locke is not in control of anything. I can see the events of his father using him as a pawn (to take his kidney) replaying themselves on the island. Oh what a bad day when Locke realizes Ben has been using him to do Ben's bidding with Locke being none-the-wiser...

Episode 4x02 / Juliet visibly happy to see a way off the island
« on: February 08, 2008, 04:32:55 PM »
In the scene where the helicopter is viewed to have landed intact, Juliet is seen smiling and happy to see a viable way off the island. Can we infer that she is in fact not taking orders from Ben any longer and any hold on her which he may have had previously is gone?

Episode 3x22 / Jack uses Grecian Formula!
« on: June 15, 2007, 03:03:07 PM »
Anyone notice that Jack's stubble on-island is peppered with a little gray, but in the flash-forward he has a nice dark beard? Is he using Grecian formula? And is it related to the mythology of the island (okay, I just thought that was funny). What are we going to talk about for 8 months?

Episode 3x22 / Ben caught between a rock and...
« on: June 05, 2007, 10:20:02 AM »
I have been thinking that Ben was a fool to think Jack would buy his "we're the good guys" line with no further explanation. Why would Jack buy such a lame excuse for not calling for rescue off the island? Ben's weak "what have you got to go back for" argument is easily countered by a "what is there to stay for?" rebuttal.

It seems Ben is in full-blown crisis mode. He seems intelligent, so his weak arguments seem to indicate that whatever secret(s) he is protecting is big, I mean really BIG! He seems willing to do anything to protect that secret. Even risking his vague and seemingly overstated warnings will be disregarded. What on earth could it be?

Could Richard's boyish good looks indicate that perhaps he is the real decision-maker and Ben is just a "puppet?" Perhaps Jacob is just an elaborate ruse. Uri Geller was able to fool countless people including scientists in a "controlled environment" with the help of a confederate planted in the room to assist with the deception. Perhaps there was someone in the shack, but is there really a Jacob?
