Episode 3x01 / Re: "Karl", the Caged Boy Came From...
« on: October 05, 2006, 08:37:02 AM »
If he and Sawyer hadn't spoken before, how would he have known that Sawyer was on a plane, that he had come from a camp with other survivors? He must have been in on it. If he really wanted to escape and learn about the camp, he would not have insisted that Sawyer run "that way" while he went the other way.

Anyone have thoughts on why they wanted Jack to believe they all would die?  Why is he being kept separately, (regardless of how far you believe the two places are apart)?

Even if the room completely filled with water, and that was the only way to close the door, the "drain" button could still be pushed and air come in.

Why is there a table and a communicate button in a shark chamber?

I think they're trying to break Jack. He is stubborn, and there's not much they can do with him unless they can knock him down.

A table is easy enough to move into the chamber, but you just brought up a great point about the communicate button. There would be no point in even installing it in an aquarium as it would just short out when the chamber was filled.... hadn't caught that.

i hope you are righ Button pusher

i kind of had the feeling it was a way to break jack down a bit  so he would end up trusting Debbie
that was my first reacton after i yelled nooooooooooooooooooooooo  at the tv when i realized i would have to eat my words on the underwater hatch

I don't have a preference either way, Demra... just the feeling that I was left with. However, for your sake, I hope I am right too. It's nice to see a man openly humble himself to his peers (jugdish in this case) and then be redeemed in the end.  ;)

Some of the country hasn't even seen the episode yet... West coast will be airing in 10 minutes, so they won't be here until after that.

I'm not saying that I think the tank is where Jack is or where the water that went into the hatch came from... just that the scene left me a little skeptical about the hatch. I'm not certain either way. Sometimes when I'm playing with my pup she's very excited and waiting for me to throw the ball... occasionally for kicks, I pretend to throw it and she runs off searching wildly for it. Then I show her that I still have it and throw it for real. She runs off again gets it and runs around happily... Part of me wonders if the producers are doing the same to us. It would not be entirely unlike them. We are in their Skinner Box.

getting a copy of the autopsy  would not be difficult given the kind of orginazion Dharma  is and the voice on the intercom seemed to me to be exactly like what jack had been " dreaming "
i will stand by a hallucination

Agreed... the tone, everything about it was like a broken recording of the past event. I don't think it was Christian talking into an intercom...

Just a quick question...

Was the young man working under Juliette's house (fixing her plumbing) the same man caged across from Sawyer?

They sure look similar!

Feedback, please.

I'm pretty sure it was Ethan...

the tank out side sawyers  cage was to small to be where they are holding Jack

and once you get an almost equal amount of water on both sides of a door it would be possible to close it

Exactly... If the hatch is fully submerged, then it would have to be filled in order to equalize the pressure enough to close the door. I hadn't made a connection between the tank outside Sawyer's cage, just noting the physics of what happened in the hatch... where the water came from for certain, I don't know.

um   does anyone have any thing to say about wut i said earlier

feedback people feedback
um    im pretty sure its not zeke in locks flash back    i went back and paused it on there     i dont think its him.

Um did anyone notice that julliete moves from place to place alot.  She was with Jack and then she tazes Sawyer.

Heres my theory,  just here me out on this one it might be a lil bit out there but wutever.

Outside of Sawyers cage we see that dharma symbol on something that to me seems to resemble some sort of tank.  Maybe Jack isnt under water maybe that TANK is filled with water and there is a door between it and the Hatch Jack is in.

Think about it for a second though.   The "others" are really smart, I dont think they would just have a door holding back the ocean.   something doesnt seem right to me

From what I saw, I agree... When Jack opened the door, I was expecting to see water rush in. Damon and Carlton know so many of us are looking for it. The reason I don't think that the hatch is truly under water is because of the amount of water that came in and the fact that they were able to close the door. I think it was setup to make Jack believe he was under water... the weight and pressure of water rushing into a fully submerged door would make it all but impossible to push the door closed until the room had filled completely... Though I could be thinking too much, that was my first impression during the scene.

I liked this episode. It might not has moved as quickly as I thought it would, but then I realize that there is a whole new world that has to be introduced to us now.

It's going to take some time to get us a full picture of what the Others are... it's as if each year brings something more like a spinoff series rather than a new season with the way the plot focus shifts, but I have little doubt that the promise of action will be delivered.

Either way, this episode left me scratching my head, screaming at the television for answers, and cursing the clock for making an hour so short...

The Guess Who

Theories & Speculation / Re: What's the deal with Sayid?
« on: July 30, 2006, 09:23:59 PM »
I would assume that Sayid will explain what is going on since Jin is on the boat with him, and apparently Sayid has not found what he was looking for... Sun and Jin will want to know what is going on. Of course, they're probably all wondering about the whole deafening noise and violet sky thing at the moment.

We've covered much about Sayid, I don't mind if we shift more on the lines of overall character development, much of this thread has been about that. The conversation has been excellent, and I'd like to see it continue freely.

Im at around 600 posts, and 5 days,21 hours and 15 minutes.

But I think my counter is slow. I spent 18 hours on line one day and it only registered about 6. I have to actually be clicking buttons to make the minute timer go up, I guess
it does have to do with moving around the site  just having a page open wont add time  unless you  post or move around onsite

I was wondering how the time logged worked... I thought I had spent more time than is shown.

I know they're just numbers (or maybe they're cursed) but I just thought it would be fun to see how much time we spend here... It surprised me that I have spent over a full day's worth of time here in just over a week...

Adding 2 screen captures.

This one as Desmond is running to open the blast doors

This one just after he shorts the wires to abort lockdown

Need someone to confirm or discount this for me... I rewatched Live Together, Die Alone. Desmond and Locke are in the dome. Desmond becomes convinced that the button needs to be pushed. Locke destroys the computer. Desmond shorts the wires out again to open the blast doors so he can get to the failsafe. They show a shot of Locke as the doors are opening. Is it my imagination, or is it suddenly darker where he is and can you see that the blacklights are on behind him? I'm all but convinced that they are, I just would like someone else to confirm it. This would be the only other instance in the show that we see the blast doors open.

So I'm curious with all the DHARMAs and now VIPs... How much time do we actually spend here?

For instance, I registered July 22, 2006. To achieve my meager 73 (now 74) post count, I have logged 1 day, 2 hours and 34 minutes of time with an average of 10.425 posts per day.

How much time did it take you to reach your current status?
