I actually like Sun, she sems like a wild card to me. You never really know what to expect from her, so I'm hoping that we find out that her and Jin were both selected by Jacob, and for whatever reason neither can die (until the island is done with them).
Yeah, that scene where she went off on Richard in Korean was probably some of the best acting we've seen in the whole show. I mean the rage was so intense I was almost getting uncomfortable. "This lady is freaking out".
Also, to the point of her suddenly speaking english again, perhaps her memory came back because...wait for it...Jin is her constant. eh?
Why would she need a constant??
I always read what you guys have to say about the show, but this is my first time posting here.
What if the ALT is what their lives would have been like had Jacob never "touched" them? The ALT sideflashes only started to happen after Jacob's death (right?)... So maybe without Jacob's intervention, our losties' lives would have been different (with some similarities, but not identical). Realizing that somehow (?), Desmond is now playing the new Jacob. Not that he'll replace Jacob in the end (I also want Jack to do it! Haha), but since he asked for the manifest, it seems he's the one with the candidates list now. I'm not sure what he's trying to do helping everyone remember the island. What does he expect to happen once they all remember it? The universe will implode and things will magically be like they were in the original timeline? Sounds lame. But maybe he's gathering everyone so they can go back to the island and this time Jack will have to do the right thing. But how could they possibly hope to find the island again? And what is Desmond going to have to sacrifice? Penny and/or his son? Himself? And why?
Since nothing makes sense when it comes to Lost (or does it?), I'm gonna go with the idea that Vincent is the key to all those island mysteries. I want the dog back on the show!
Welcome Bud. We try to be a quality bunch here. With exception of myself of course. I'm a rick with a capital "P". Anyway I really liked this idea for a while, but then remembered that Jacob touched Hurley AFTER he had already been to the island. Unless there was a touch we haven't yet seen of course.
Yeah, either he wants them all in one place so he can kill them. Doubtful, in my book. Why wait and just kill the ones he's already got? Or, they need to be together for the plane trip to work (like the way they needed a special passenger list for the trip to the Island to work properly).
His need for all of them made me go back to thinking that "the sum" of them was equal to one "Jacob". As in 4+8+15+16+23+42=108. So, maybe Jacob's last name is "Wallace" (aka, #108)?
They developed the whole story line about the cave and lighthouse to show the numbers corresponding to the candidates, so it would be hard to imagine that #108 is meaningless, but I don't think the six adding up to 108 means all six are needed or that 108 is Jacob because it's been clear that there are six candidates LEFT, but all the others were considered at one point. Also, why would Jacob have his own name on a list to replace himself? Unless, of course, he was once a candidate to replace someone before him, but I don't think they have time to go that direction (if they had stretched this out a few more seasons, maybe). My guess is that Wallace is someone else, maybe the guy whose body MIB inhabited before Locke. On the other hand, TPTB have said that they used some names on the wall and in the lighthouse as a nod to friends and family and crew on the show, so maybe Wallace is just someone special to the producers and they put that name in the #108 spot as a special nod.
So Smokey can't cross water, can't cross the "ash line," and can't cross the pylon-energy-field-thingy. He's starting to sound pretty easy to corral. What is it about those things that he can't deal with? The ash and the pylons could have something to do with magnetic energy. What about the water?
