Episode 6x14 / Re: So who destroyed the well and camp?
« on: May 18, 2010, 12:23:29 AM »

Semi possible, but it was filled to the brim with dirt. Then, she single handedly killed the village people? She's not Chuck Norris. Then I'd believe it.

Well, Jacob must've learned his mad fighting skills from somebody!  Maybe Mom was Chuck Norris.  She kinda reminded me of Rousseau, and I wouldn't put it past Rousseau at all to be able to take out tons of people.

Smokey is certainly more convenient, though, but I don't see Mom "being" Smokey.  Maybe "releasing" him, like Ben did when he sicc'ed him after the Mercenaries... although I still think that it felt to me like Smokey had been trapped over the waterfall for a looooong time until MIB went over the falls.  Hmmm.  (Which reminds me, we still need an explanation of Ben and that Smokey-release.  How did Ben know he could do that?  Was it a "one-time-only" deal -- kind of a "only do this as a Last Resort" thing, because once he's released, you can't put him back?)

lol I think Mom is smokey-ish, but before I read this I was thinking "She may have just gone all Danielle on them>"

I think Jacob threw him in there because Mother told told him that going in there would be worse than death, and since Jacob loved his mom, he wanted to punish her murderer in the worst way possible. Now if there is something worse than death, I'm sure he would want to utilize that.

And it also plays into the whole thing about them not being able to hurt each other. I mean, if what Jacob did to him isn't death, than no harm, no foul.

This is another strong argument for MIB=smokey now

Episode 6x14 / Re: What does this mean for the "new Jacob"?

The only reason I can't agree with that is because of the fact that MiB still needed to find a loop hole in order to kill Jacob. If that really wasn't his brother, and was just using his form in order to manipulate him, why didn MiB kill the crap out of him??

I think this is an excellent point.

I agree

OK, so now that we have established this, can anyone explain why during that conversation the smoke takes the position "They come. They fight. They destroy. They corrupt. It always ends the same."  This is what Mother tells the two boys, so you'd think that this would be Jacob's position.  But instead Jacob doesn't believe this stance.  What's up with that!?

My theory is that the Mother was both the protector of the island and the smokey. She was the light and the dark in one. The island was "in harmony" while she was around.  This would explain why she was able to kill all of the people at the well, since she did it as smokey.

So, when she died, perhaps the traits/responsibilities split between Jacob and his brother. Jacob was the light, his brother the dark.  So, Jacob took certain aspects of his mother, and MiB took the other, which included the pessimistic view of men.

This is so totally right that I hardly know what to say

Episode 6x14 / Re: The Light
« on: May 12, 2010, 10:13:55 PM »
I think that when MiB's body went down into the hole/tunnel, the light went into him, and that is why Jacob has to keep him there, because his mother said something about the world ending if the light ever goes out or leaves the island, no?? Why does that make him a smoke monster?? Well, unless they plan to discuss that in the next three hours, I think we're just suppossed to assume that whatever that light/power was just did it. Don't know if any real explanation is needed.

I like this.  Also, UnLocke says he pnce had a crazy mother, and that he wants to go home, and that Jacob stole his humanity.  I'm going with him as Boy in Black.

I had first posted the Sawyer hating Jack scenarion (5 finale parallel) a while back, and changed it to Jack, MIB as Locke.  Love the addition of the open eye of the new candidate.

I may be splitting hairs, but didn't he say 'Everyone WE know and love will cease to exist?"  Doesn't hav to mean humanity.

You're right. The quote is really "If that thing masquerading as John Locke ever got off this island, your wife, your daughter, my daughter, everyone we know and love - would simply cease to be."

So, it may be limited to the people connected to the Island, but I think it's the whole world. One of these days a character will have to utter the words "what do you mean?" but that doesn't happen very often.

lol!  yeah, you're exactly right!  Ask some questions, people!  Someone says everyone will die and that doesn't pique your interest?!
