Episode 6x16 / Re: Thank you Sledge!

A big thank you from me, too!  I may not have posted too many comments but I was always here to read what others had posted and to gleam some insight into the series since the first season.

Thanks - it was the only thing really bothering me since the finale.

Episode 6x16 / Cut on Jack's Neck

I understand everything else that happened, but I just don't get the cut on Jack's neck in the sideways timeline.  Searched all the boards but can't seem to understand why this was happening - maybe to remind him and let him know he was dead.

Episode 6x15 / Re: Did Richard get Boba Fett-ed from LOST???!?!!

Here's a good question I just thought of, too, while I was responding to another topic.  Why wasn't Richard ever a candidate?  He was flawed and alone.  And since he took on the other position from Jacob why not this one?

Episode 6x15 / Re: Is Widmore dead?
« on: May 19, 2010, 10:39:45 AM »
Immediately thought that Ben was trying to do good by killing Widmore.  (overall good that is).  He didn't want Widmore to tell Smokey what Smokey needed to know.  I'm thinking in the end, Ben IS a good guy.

This was my immediate thought, also.  Because he stopped him just in time.

Episode 6x12 / Re: Sayid and Desmond
« on: April 26, 2010, 08:07:51 AM »
Sayid appeared to be looking up in the trees for something. A rope most likely. Then MiB appeared and Sayid went into zombie mode again.

I was just about to post the same thing.  That he was looking up in the trees for a vine to cut to get Desmond out of the well.  Also we sort of know he didn't kill Desmond because that wouldn't make sense.  For the writers to name an episode "The Package" and then kill the package just doesn't seem to fly.  He's too important to the storyline to kill off now.

Can MIB kill anyone if he's not the smoke monster?  As of yet I we haven't seen him do that.  Because if he really wanted Desmond dead he could have done it himself, but maybe as MIB he can't (so he threw him in a well to remove him from the game) and has to manipulate people into doing that part for him.

Episode 6x08 / Re: The devil betrayed me. He took my body
« on: March 24, 2010, 06:36:43 AM »
This line's been bothering me, too.  At first I thought maybe Jacob had taken MIB's body and then MIB had to wait for someone to die to get another body.  Not sure what I think now.

Good article about the actor who plays Richard and it doesn't give away any spoilers.

10 - I've having a hard time waiting today for this episode. Why?  Because Richard has always been such an interesting character, but one we've known so little about.  Very excited to see what we learn in this episode and more of Richard's backstory and why he doesn't age and how that fits in with Jacob and MIB.  So yes, I say OOH BOY!!!, too!

Episode 6x07 / Re: Mirrors
« on: March 20, 2010, 08:13:38 AM »
There was a really good point in there about whoever said "help me" in the cabin. They alluded to it being MIB trying to manifest himself as a person within the circle of ash but couldn't. This could explain why we see Smokey around the island in the first seasons. What I'm thinking is that Jacob trapped MIB in the cabin and surrounded it in ash knowing that this would make it impossible for MIB to take a human form. Now we all know that Smokey can't pass through the ash and I'm not sure how the ash ring was broken (this person said maybe it was Claire and I actually like that) but after it was, Smokey was able to get in. All this leads me to believe that MIB was split into two parts. One part was Smokey and the other was his "soul", for lack of a better term, that was trapped in the cabin. He needed both parts together to be able to take on a human form.

I just wrote something about this on the MIB/Christian thread because I'm trying to figure out who was actually in the cabin.  That's an interesting thought that the MIB couldn't materialize in human form because of the ash and that he needed both parts of himself to do it.  Have to think on it some more.

The more I think of it I'd have to say it was MIB trapped in the cabin and not Jacob as I had always thought.

Episode 6x07 / Re: So Was Christian Really The MIB?
« on: March 20, 2010, 08:06:02 AM »
I've been thinking about who was actually in the cabin in the earlier seasons.  All along I thought it was Jacob.  But since the ash and all and how they put it around the temple to keep MIB out is it possible that MIB was the one in the cabin and the ash was there to keep him in.  But I still don't get how Ben could have set him loose on Keamy and how he get him back to wherever he stayed.

And if it was actually the MIB in the cabin it would make more sense because he could take the appearance of someone who had died like Christian.  And so far we don't know if this is something Jacob can actually do - take on the appearance of someone else.

Episode 6x07 / Re: What Does MIB/UnLocke Need?
« on: March 20, 2010, 07:57:39 AM »
I'm thinking more along the lines of it's something that has to happen for him to get home (free - back to being human - back to wherever he came from - whatever you want to call it) like one of these candidates has to do something or they all have to do something together.  Maybe it is Jack.  Otherwise MIB could have just left by turning the wheel.  So the game's not over for him yet.  Killing Jacob didn't end it.

I really think it's more than not having a boat.  Ben and others have been able to leave the island.  MIB wants to leave the island but first he must do or make something happen so he can go.  Afterall (as I posted in another thread) he's already shown he can do things like miraculously remove Ben's leg clamp, so why doesn't he just create what he needs and leave the island.  There's more to it than that I think.  I get the feeling he's got to finish something (manipulate someone into doing something that will finally finish the game only he can't tell them what he's doing or why) in order for him to leave.

That's a nice little theory. Has a nice thought on WHAT the island might be. I posted it in theories, but Take a look at the Mirror tie in

Wow, thanks for the link. Hadn't seen that site before.  I think this is more in line with where I'm thinking the story may be headed.  I also noticed as I watched the episode again last night that everyone in their sideways storylines was looking at their reflection and in some cases like Jack's noticing changes, possibly foretelling that what happens on the island will ultimately affect their sideways lives as well.

When Christian appeared to junkie Jack at the hospital, he set off the SMOKE detector.
Excellent thread.

Great catch on the smoke detector.  This whole thread has me thinking in a new direction.  Really great thread.  I've always thought Jacob was Christian.  Now I'm not so sure.  And again this all goes back to the question I keep asking myself - what's keeping MIB from leaving the island now?
