Episode 5x16 / Re: Dharma Food Drop
« on: May 20, 2009, 05:21:57 AM »
My guess is that different time lines are technically happening in parallel.  Just like when Ben turned the wheel and everyone started jumping through time or as Jack, Kate, Hurley and Sayid jumped into 1977  the food drops have done the same thing.

Episode 5x06 / Re: Ceasar, That guy that spoke to Jack in the airport...
« on: February 25, 2009, 04:06:16 AM »
Assuming Locke ends up in the same place Ben did, then he may have been one of the guys who finds Locke, or meets Locke.

To have him in the center of the frame where the flight attendant hands Jack the envelope must mean something.

Episode 5x06 / Re: Who built the pendulum?
« on: February 23, 2009, 08:07:41 AM »
Yes I think Janeway was right ^_^  There is a lot of similarities to Star Trek in Lost. I am sure the writers borrowed some concepts from it.

I think Daniel would be a good guess for the pendulum.

It's interesting because i believe the pockets of electromagnetic energy has some truth to it.  I read in a book several years ago called Unsolved Mysteries or Mysteries of the World (can't remember) about a system of arteries running through the earth that would have strong points at certain locations.  One of those places is where Stonehenge is located. Can't remember if they were waterways or electromagnetic energy but would be interesting if someone could find some information about it.

Episode 5x05 / Ghosts= Time Jumpers?
« on: February 16, 2009, 02:27:06 AM »
Just wondering, could these so called ghosts or images of people that suddenly appear and speak directly to some of the losties are actually people who are time jumpers or are able to skip through time.

Rousseau said that to her, when Jin jumped, he suddenly vanished.

How about Libby on the freighter to Michael or the various other occasions in the earlier seasons?
I know Libby is dead, but that won't make a difference if she is traveling from an earlier time.

There must be a way to control the jumping/travelling.

Episode 5x05 / Re: Has Jin changed the past?
« on: February 16, 2009, 02:06:09 AM »
There was a similar question about Jin before, this is what I think:

Even if Rousseau knew Jin, what good would it be to tell everyone.  There is a language barrier and Jin wouldn't know her because it hadn't happened yet since it would be part of his future.  Remember, even though this is Rousseau's past, it is still Jin's future.
Rousseau doesn't know anyone there either.
Besides, the others have files on everyone from the plane it would be easy to know something about Jin especially if she was accused of being an "other".
Most people would probably find her a little crazy if she was talking about such things because everyone had just crashed.  They would think she just went mad from being on the island for so long.  She is parading around with a gun and a strange look on her face.
What she would say wouldn't make any sense.  Also Jin never revealed any information to her except that he was married and she had no idea who his wife is. Plus what would she say: "Hey Jin, you are the one who disappeared and i tried to kill you after I killed my husband and team." That would go over well.

As for changing the past, I think the past hasn't changed but the course may be taking detours.  There is only one time line and anytime there is a course correction (something that should happen doesn't, so something else has to happen to get things back on track), memories are rewritten/added/erased.  Remember in 5x02 when Charlotte said, ".. It's the weirdest thing earlier.  I was thinking about my mum and all of a sudden I couldn't remember her maiden name.  Isn't that odd?"
Also Charlotte mentioned she hadn't had a nose bleed since she was a child.

Also take into account that Lost shifts between flash backs, the present, flash forwards, etc so we are watching pieces.  Just cause we think we are watching the present, for all we know on the actual time line, we may be watching the future or the past.  So we get to enjoy Lost all year round putting those pieces in the right order during the long season breaks ^_^

Episode 5x05 / Re: Donkey Wheel

hmm... excellent explanation

Episode 5x05 / Re: Charlotte lived on the island
« on: February 12, 2009, 11:33:20 PM »
Maybe Charlotte's father is the guy who spoke Korean to Jin in the airport washroom in 1x24. He is American and works for Mr. Paik.

They are the makers of their own destiny.

Maybe this show will end where it began.

Episode 5x05 / Re: Off Donkey Wheel
« on: February 12, 2009, 07:47:31 AM »
So could be the gear is lose on the clock of time,  or the steering wheel of a ship.  Could be a time ship that seems to be inside a meteor.

Smokey and inside that cavern sound like they are under water and the wheel sounds like a light saber.
Maybe Christian will turn around and say "John, I'm your father." :P

Episode 5x05 / Re: Christian Sheppard - why so important
« on: February 12, 2009, 06:42:54 AM »
Maybe Smokey = Christian and any other manifestations.

Could be smokey takes the form of someone who is familiar to a character in order to communicate or deceive.

Or possibly is able to borrow the consciousness/memories of those who have died to take their human form.

Could be the Genie in a bottle thing where Ben has control which is why everyone is listening to him.  They have no choice, so they are hoping Locke will change all that.

Episode 5x05 / Re: What was Charlotte talking to Jin about
« on: February 12, 2009, 06:28:56 AM »
Yes this is the translation "Don't let him bring her back... this place is death!"    Ojima (오지마) =  literally "stop coming"

Similar to what Desmond and Theresa experienced, her mind shot back to a previous time or the mindset she was in during that particular year they had jumped to.

Season 5 / Re: What on earth is going on?
« on: February 10, 2009, 07:36:59 AM »
I think that the freighter was in the radius but no one was on it when it exploded so it stayed in it's time and didn't jump which is why Sawyer and Juliet didn't see it.  Remember the camp was on the island but it disappeared.
I would agree that Jin and the debris he was with jumped together. Maybe Jin was just on the edge of the radius.

Even if Rousseau knew Jin, what good would it be to tell everyone.  There is a language barrier and Jin wouldn't know her because it hadn't happened yet since it would be part of his future.  Remember, even though this is Rousseau's past, it is still Jin's future.
Besides, the others have files on everyone from the plane it would be easy to know something about Jin.
We don't know how long it will be until the next jump so Jin may only be with her for a short time.

As for this never happening if the losties never left, I wonder if this is ploy to keep Ben in power.  Could be with all the people working for him, he and his team have control of the island (space and time).  They had easy access to the island, a comfortable life and all the money they need. They say you can't alter your destiny, but you can probably alter events in time to benefit you.  Maybe Ben has done that, he sure does have a lot of passports. This could be a power struggle with Witmore who may have been in Ben's shoes before.  Maybe that's how he made his millions.  But the losties leaving was probably some kind of course correction to get the timeline back on track. Maybe Ben's been playing with time too much, so this happened to kind of punish him and he must correct his mistake.

On a side note, I think Richard may be some sort of caretaker which is why he seems like he has no power.  Maybe the island and Richard are actually from the future or space.  Isn't time much slower in space?

Episode 5x04 / Re: Time Collapsing
« on: February 10, 2009, 07:07:23 AM »
Here is the clip from the Time Machine 1960

These are the episodes of Star Trek that I was thinking of:

Star Trek TNG 5x18  Cause and Effect :

Caught in a temporal causality loop.
Talks about how whispers are echos of previous loops in time.
Send a message which appears in the form of a number 3 that appears everywhere when the loop restarts.

Star Trek TNG 7x11 Parallels

Warf is shifting between realities after entering a fissure which weakened barriers between quantum realities.
When the barriers breakdown, all realities begin exposing themselves.
By reentering the fissure and sealing it, everything will be restored to normal and Warf will be returned a few days before or after the actual day.

Star Trek TNG 5x26 and 6x01 Times Arrow

Distortions in time.  Aliens are detected and can be seen as ghosts by using a device.
Presents time as a straight line that is always moving forward and cannot be changed. Destiny will fulfill itself.
Though captain Pacard went back in time and meets Gainan, this is part of his future not his past.  This is when Gainan first meets him and is fully aware of this when they meet on the Enterprise, but Pacard doesn't know it at that time because it hasn't happened yet.

I think with Faraday not knowing why he was upset during the news is because he is in a loop so while he feels something, he doesn't know why. This is because it will be in his future. His whole adventure on the island hadn't happened yet.

Episode 5x04 / Re: 1988
« on: February 05, 2009, 12:05:15 PM »
I think Locke and friends are in 2004/2005 at least their mind sets.  But they have shifted into 1988.

Rousseau and crew crashed in 1988 and also she set her repeating message in 1988.

Episode 5x04 / Time Collapsing
« on: February 05, 2009, 11:51:56 AM »
I wonder if time is collapsing or rather the 4th dimension?

If all time exists at the same time, then everything is happening in the present in parallel.  If Time collapses, then every point in time will expose itself to each other in the present. I wonder if this is the problem that everyone is worried about.

I think Claire experienced this in season 2 episode 15 where she saw herself talking to Ethan on the log.
Also Desmond saw multiple images of Calvin when he washed up on the island in season 2 episode 23 however his story changed about how he ended up in the hatch in season 2 episode 2.

The whole nosebleed situation I think is related to the movie the Butterfly Effect with Ashton Kutcher. If they had been on the island before, i guess each jump is just adding more memories to their mind even if they can't access them immediately.

The whole island jumping seems to be explained in the movie The Time Machine (1960) at about 13min into the movie.
Also season 4 episode 3 explains that the island is off by about 31 minutes.

If the 4th dimension collapses then everyone will seize to exist?  I am wondering if that is what has happened and has caused them to get stuck in the loop and repeat what they are doing with slight changes (Dan's notebook).  Maybe Dan is leaving hints along the way to remind him to do something different the next time like that episode of Star Trek TNG.

What year did the find the plane?  Dan didn't know anything when he saw it on TV and I am assuming the girl he was with was Theresa.
Charlotte also found the polar bear remains in the desert. Was that the polar bear the killed on the island or does that mean that the polar bear may have pushed the donkey wheel before or is the desert actually on the island?

I got a headache now :P
