Episode 6x16 / Prediction: The Final Scene of Lost
« on: May 01, 2010, 12:32:01 AM »
In the few remaining episodes of Lost I’m sure there will be revelations about the nature and history of the island, the origin of the Men In Black and White and many other mysteries. But for me, I am content to just strap myself in tight and enjoy the ride provided by the show’s creators.
However, I do have a strong feeling about what should be, and may very well actually be, the final scene of our beloved series.
Location: a beach on the Island.
Jack Shepard, now the one chosen to replace Jacob, sits and watches the arrival of a new group of castaways. Perhaps an ocean liner is about to run aground or another plane is about to crash. He is approached by The Artist Formerly Known As John Locke, the physical form of the smoke monster.
Shepard and Locke discuss their perpetual disagreements about destiny and free will and the usefulness of continuing experiments with imported test subjects. Perhaps they will use some of the exact lines from the Season 5 finale. Locke ends the conversation by asking Jack if he has any idea how much he wants to kill him.
Cut to a close-up of an eye that suddenly pops open. In a widening shot we see a new person, unknown to us, on the ground and desperately trying to pull him or her-self into consciousness. If the budget for the finale allows, we will then see this person run to the scene of a fresh disaster where chaos reigns and extras run amok screaming.
Cut to black. Credits.
I thought that in honor of all the thousands of guesses made by fans over the last six years I would take the risk of being totally wrong in order to put this thought out there well before we reach that sad day of the series’ conclusion.
If I prove to be right, or close, I will be busily and shamelessly directing people to this post. If I’m wrong, which is the most likely outcome, I will go into hiding and drink myself into a stupor to forget my foolishness and mourn the end of Lost.
Does anyone else have an alternate ending to propose?
