Post by: Geronimo Jackson on May 16, 2007, 08:06:43 PM

Is it not possible that the Looking Glass station and the Hydra are one and the same?   ???  When they talked about it being underwater, I thought immediately of Jack's escape attempt in 3x1.  Which of course would make Juliet a liar still, since she says neither she nor anyone else she knows has ever been there.  What do you think?

I've always thought that Walt wasnt just right when he and Klugh were together in the hut, season 2. I believe Walt is still around and killed Michael to become part of the Others.

1, i may be wrong here, but im thinking the hatch a some kind of teleporter.
you only ever see people come out of the sub. i think they are teleported to the hatch, then taken to the island by the sub.
this would explain juliet being drugged first.

2, maybe the reason charlie didnt die is because they went a day earlier than planed because the others are coming,
OR
des only said you press the button then drown, and charlie hasnt pressed it yet.
maybe when he does it courses the hatch to self destruct trapping charlie.

Post by: ape on May 17, 2007, 10:26:43 PM
1? Ooooft! Please let that be an oar someone has just struck my head with.

2? Good point about the day early idea. This episode was much hyped as Charlie's send off (even last week's podcast had Dom Monighaninananahannihan rambling on about not wanting to be typecast  when he leaves etc) It seemed too obviously un-Lost to actually kill the guy in in his death episode.

Ok, great, we've finally found the real underwater hatch.
This finding overshadowed the real fact why Desmond went along with Charlie.
I'm almost certian if Charlie didn't knock Desmond unconcious that second, Desmond would of surely done the same thing after their touching convosation. But sad emotions aside;
I'm pretty sure Desmond has met these people before, within the Looking Glass, OR he knows how to handle them. I'm sure when the 'What did one snowman say to the other?' joke crops up Charlie will go "HUH?!?!" and when he wakes up from a bat across the face (thats Karma) he'll be tied up.
Are these the only Dharma folk left on the island, and believe Charlie is a hostile?

Didnt the blueprints say something like hatch located at 70 meteres down?

70 m x 3 ft per meter = 210 ft?

Some deep dive isnt it?

Hence the weight belt.  ;D

I have scuba dived down to about 75 feet. A lot of pressure at that distance alone.

70 meters = 229 feet - 8"
The world record for free dving (no gear except fins) is 122 meters  held by a professional

The world record for the type of dive closest to what we saw Charlie do (no gear, no fins, only ballast) is 87 meters.

Once again, unless Charlie is secretly Auqaman, he has escaped what would seem to be a deadly undertaking by what - shear dumb luck, magic box lungs, ?

Hawaii particularly has very clear water.  I went to the USS Arizona memorial & could look down in the water & see the ship.  Pretty amazing.

I already had a post about world record for a free dive somewhere here.  It is highly unlikely that Charlie could do it.  Not impossible but highly unlikely.  I just chalked it up to a production misque - maybe thought we'd confuse meters with feet.  I don't know - that's when I went into it's just a show mode.

If it's 70...then it's Gordy's idea that it says 17 lol

Sure, blame Gordy.
Perhaps all the heroin use has slowed Charlie's metabolism so he requires less oxygen and is able to dive more deeply.

I probably should have used 'just kidding' tags there

Fanx for the pic TX.
Funny how they have this official blueprint with the graphs and all the math, yet the drawing looks like it was done on the trunk of a car with a crayon.

No and I'm quoting you because your theory needs broadcast and made a permanent post.

I thought GJ did a pretty good job drawing it.  I just don't know how she got the producers to buy it. ;D

The Looking Glass: It occured to me, maybe there's a second sub. If Dharma has so much money to make all these Hatches, and especially has the $$$ for an underwater one.....why would they only have one sub. It would be wise to have at least two subs, just in case something happened to one of them.

Food for the Looking Glass: Hydroponics? They grow it? A sub brings it?

Michael: Yeah he needs to die. I even though when he left the Island, it looked like he had some black stuff growing on his face. He even said something about him not feeling too well. I thought he contracted the "Sickness".

just had a thought...

We know the looking glass is staffed by women, could it be possible that Colleen and Rousseau were originally looking glass employees.
I don't think it was Colleen's first day on a submarine.

Is it all female too protect their "honor?" Are the women being segregated to avoid pregnancies?

Could Rousseau once have (wo)manned the station? Is that why she said she "hears" the other's? (is a listening station, right)
-would explain why she was camped by near the cable
-explains lack of boat or wreckage
-explains kick-a$$ military style clothing and equipment.
-explains military style and scientific training. (bomb/map making)

Did the other's wipe her memory after she had the baby, or does she have "repressed memories" like Claire?

Danielle scientific exploration boat crashed on the island. She hears the others because she hears the whispers.

I like the idea of the women protecting themselves from pregnancy.  But I don't buy it.

That's what she told Sayid but everybody lies around here.
Just speculation but that would be awesome.

Could she have come to the Island from the station to repair something for the looking glass? We know she went to the radio tower.

Was she "bait" for the others/natives?

She killed her team because they were "infected." Is that why there are no men in the looking glass?

a little scatter brained, I know, just throwing ideas out...

TPTB said this too.. It's not speculation

Danielle scientific exploration boat crashed on the island. She hears the others because she hears the whispers.
I know this is the rational explanation but, this is more fun and a better story.

Danielle's ambiguous military/scientific background and training have never really been discussed. Partially because she's a total loose canon.
We don't know who Rousseau was doing research for... French navy, i doubt it. Independent or government sponsored scientific research company? Dharma, Widmore, Hanso, WHO? We've never found out exactly who sent her there. Sayid noticed her jacket looked more like a soldier's than a scientist's. What was her crew doing in the south Pacific?

She says her crew heard the numbers and crashed on the Island. We've never seen a ship. She says she killed her whole crew. Where did she bury them? Can she draw a map for Sayid? She said that they were all infected. We've never seen a disease.

She may have crashed there but was it accidental?

ROUSSEAU KICKS A$$! Can't wait for a flashback!

I was thinking that it might line up right that the members of her crew were killed during Ben's purge of Dharma (not directly, but indirectly) and that for some reason Danielle didn't get sick. Maybe she was in a hatch at the time and wasn't exposed to the gas? Maybe she was kidnapped at the time (and drugged like Claire) and doesn't remember exactly what happened.  ???

I'm absolutely convinced that there is an underwater hatch. I don't mind being proven wrong. I would be surprised if it wasn't the case but nonetheless, I think there is definitely an underwater hatch!

There!

I've said it!

pardon my ignorance msdoran  but how do we know Magnus Hanso is buried at Black Rock? I got lost on that tid bit. Please explain.
I agree with your theroy  about under water. I always figured if Sayid pulled on that rope on thebeach the other way into the ocean he would have found another hatch. When Ethan came for Claire one time he was wet. (not raining)When he killed off "Scott"he came from the ocean. The shark with the Dharma logo on it could have been sent from this hatch. Where did all the Others go after leaving  the medical hatch, perhaps under the ocean?  Perhaps C3  on map is an under water hatch. Just a theroy.
I live by a a now closed naval base but planes fly in there all the time. I don't hear them all.
