Title: Gotta give it to Sayid
Post by: Geronimo Jackson on May 03, 2007, 12:23:37 PM
Sayid isn't getting much screen time this season and I wonder if he will be one of the
Spoiler
ones to die between  now and during season finale
but in his short scene with naomi and listening to her wellrehearsed speechabout Flight 815 and looking for Des, he knew immediately she was an Other. When he asked if they saw the helicopter, he knew she was a plant.  And her comment back mind me to never have to rescue you.

Sayid smartest one on that island. Glad someone on the show sees through Naomi.I said after last week's episode, not tot trust her. Look at he screencaps on investigations page, Juliet and Ben are watching all the news footage with Patchy on the crash of Oceanic Flight 815, plus they have endless resources to get information on people,so know all about Des and and Penny. Not saying that Widomre is not involved , but Naomi is one of the Others and Sayid sees through it all.

Jack also suspected she was an Other...and he never even saw her!

I agree, she isn't telling the truth, Sayid always seems to know when people are lying. Plus, maybe its just me, but why would a helicopter pilot need the air mask helmet she was wearing( they fly to low to need oxygen) and how many helo pilots can fly with a parashut on, plus wouldn't the guys have herd the chopper before it crashed? Just some questions that come to mind.
When they were watching the screen caps didn't Ben say something to patchy about getting all the info? Of course they would need to get started right away on the cover up.

I don't think he thinks she's an other or thinks she's a plant.  He was simply interrogating her and asking the right questions.  I think when she produced the phone, it helped prove that she is NOT one of the others.  He better not die.  I'll be pissed.  Sayid and Sawyer are the only ones I want to see around until the end of the series.  I think Naomi will die, maybe a couple of others, and one or two of the 815ers.  I'm thinking it will either be Charlie, Sun, or Jin or someone really minor like Rose and Bernard.  Or maybe they'll do a Lord of the Flies and Hurley will get crushed by a boulder.

I think you are dead wrong about this one.  She's working for Penny Widmore, and I say it for this reason:

Almost to the end of Season 3.  Two more seasons....max...to go.  If they are going to start tying in what's happening on the Island with what's going on with the Widmore's and Paik and all that, they need to start now.

Spoiler
Besides, in one of the podcasts the producers said that another character would be introduced, and she wouldn't be an Other, she wouldn't be in a flashback, and she wouldn't be Dharma.  That's Naomi for sure.

I just think that as far as the story arc is concerned, it's the right time to establish a tie-in to happenings off the Island.  Naomi is that link.

I love Hurley but that would be funny.

No way they can kill off Sayid or Sawyer but I thik Sayid will be a casulity..jack I hope so, drives me crazy, changed too much since season one.   Sawyer I would have trouble watching if he was killed too.

No I think Naomi gave it to Sayid as a sign of trust to try and win him over.

I don't think she is an other, but I also don't think she is telling the whole truth. If she saw land, before she jumped why question it beening an Island?

Naomi checked Sayid's name before she gave him the phone which gave me the impression that she knew his history as a tele-comm soldier. I think she knew generally who Sayid was. She's not being completely forth-coming. More to come...

I think Naomi is an independent.  Why?  Because if Penny really wants to find and rescue Desmond, she's got to do it indepent of her father, without his knowledge.  I think HE is part of the conspiracy, but Penny is not.  Naomi's appearance is a logical continuation of the Penny and Desmond story line.  The Portugeuse listening station detected the electromagnetic anomaly and got a GPS location, relayed that information to Penny Widmore, and she sent a team out..

I'm with Casino... Naomi really is working with Penny.  Anything else just wouldn't make sense and would be pointless.  The Others don't need anymore spies.

He better not die.  I'll be pissed.  Sayid and Sawyer are the only ones I want to see around until the end of the series.

Um, I'm gonna assume that this was part of the "Spoiler" info? If so, might not want to talk about it so openly lol...

No we alll talk toward the end of each season who could die who and could live since that is the pattern established by the show.

I agree, too...Sayid being suspicious shows he's smart, not that his suspicions are correct. And someone would need to explain why the Others would want the Losties to start thinking they're really all dead...do they want the survivors to believe both that they may be rescued as well as believe they are already dead?

As well as why they would injure her so badly to the point that she needed a needle to the lung to suck out the blood draining into it? We can assume that IF she were a plant they wouldn't need her to actually parachute onto the island to pretend to be a rescuer, just like they didn't need Ben to actually crash in a balloon in order to pretend to be Henry Gale. So where did the injury come from?

Ah, ok lol...it's just that it came out of nowhere. We weren't talking about Sayid and him possibly dying, so I assumed it was part of the Spoiler section of the initial post that I didn't read.

I don't think the others want the losties to think they can be rescued, if they think they are dead they might be more inclined to "go with the flow" and not fight the others anymore. Maybe it another way for Ben "to do what he does best" manipulate people.

Jack didn't think she was an Other right off the bat.  Jack could have been worked up because they don't want someone else getting in to get information, or that they don't want her giving her position to the outside.
I don't think Naomi is an Other, I think she is genuinely working for Penny.

I would imagine that getting people to believe they're actually already dead would lead to some serious chaos, confusion and fear...

Maybe the others want them to realize no one is looking for them, this is the manipulation. Plus from the looks of next week I would say that the chaos and confusion thing is going to play out. What better way to distract them then to start a fight among them, better keep the women ( Sun and those possible prego )close!

So they plant a fake rescuer...to get people to believe nobody is trying to rescue them? lol... :) Granted, she was supposed to be rescuing Desmond only...but I think if they were wanting the Losties to give up hope on ever being rescued, they wouldn't use a fake rescuer to do so.

I'm not buying it just yet. I think it more plausible that she had a connection with Dharma as Mikhail was wearing a Dharma jumpsuit when she saw him. Des is quite possibly the one person on the island the 'others' were unaware of until recently.

After Huge-o slipped up and accidently fired the flare gun shooting the flare inhto the sky .....  Patchy shows up, as if he was looking for this signal (and expecting it). He is then none suprised to see "Naomi" (acronym?) lying there in pilot garb. She speaks to hem in Italian ( so says patchy),and say's "thank you". Then Patchy steals the phone, or did he simply take the phone because Naomi could not continue with him as planned.
Now if she was supposed to rendevous with Patch, I am interested to see how Des ties into whoever is quarterbacking this Island. I do think he does not know or have any idea what his true purpose is. or what "team" he is truly on. Seems odd with all that is happening he is still centered on his love of Penny. Just not very realistic, unboundless love, in this day and age. What about evetryone else who has people "back home" .
WAIT A SECOND!  What if Des is the ONLY one who is missed by someone back home. that would be odd.
uh'oh I have gone and knotted my brain again. :-\

I just rewatched this episode and i noticed that when Sayid turned it on and was looking for a channel, there was something like radar circles emitting from the west coast of north america right around where los angeles is. Is that where they are?????? it cant be, there has to be some reason for it. I'm not good with electronics and that kind of thing so if anyone has any thoghts or feedback... post away

You mean in the right-most photo?

I don't think so. The radar circles are just centered on the picture of the globe, which is a pretty standard map.

There is a ping that emits from some where on the west coast. Maybe Portland?

My guess was Hawaii, since the show is filmed there. Who knows how far they took the accuracy of the device output.

Umm...no she isn't an Other or a spy. ::)

Her story ties in perfectly with Penny, Widmore, and the guys speaking Portugeuse in the Antarctic.  They have to be able to start piecing that story together, they can't just let that lay hanging forever (they've left it at loose ends for half a season already!).  Naomi is the Losties connection with the outside world so it presents a whole new story line for the writers to explore.  In the presser for the season finale, it even states that "The Losties begin trying to communicate with Naomi's ship".  If Naomi doesn't have a ship, then who are they supposedly communicating with? ???

Patchy could have seen the flare and gone to investigate without having expected it.  Also Naomi says " I am not alone" in portugese not "Thank you" as Patchy claims. He took the phone because he's the others communication dude and wants to re-establish comlink...and i am sure they don't want the losties to get it.
I think Naomi is working for Penny not the others but I also don't think she's telling the whole truth...Sayid's spidey senses don't generally tingle for nothin:)

I think that Naomi is honestly working for Penny, with nothing to do with Dharma or the Others.  She probably communicated with Patchy simply because he was the one patching her up.  (no pun intended)  If I was on the edge of death, or had a serious injury, I'd communicate with that nearest possible person, and I'm pretty sure it was Mikhail when she became able to do any talking.  I can't rewatch, so I'm not sure.  That's just my two cents.

serisouly i don't think she's an other.....they already have an other in the losties camp plus if she was she wouldn't go through the trouble of sticking a twig in her lung... and they would have just brought her to the island like everyone else, and staged the crash...

plus the others are always looking for flares...remember the end of season 1
