Title: Best line EVER in the history of "LOST"... debate?
Post by: OLLY-wood on April 05, 2007, 03:37:47 AM
In a conversation with Sawyer, Hurley breaks through with the upset and delivers the most humorous line ever uttered on Craphole Island:

To paraphrase:

Sawyer: You conned me into being decent? That's gotta be the lamest con in the history of cons!

Hurley, a few lines later:  Just for today, they get to eat boar, laugh, and forget that they are totally screwed... you did that for them.

Comedy Gold?

Are there any other lines that you think could top that one? Go ahead, I'll wait.

I liked it when Kate said to Juliette something like "Welcome to the world of not knowing what the hell is going on!"

Last week and the week before had some good lines.  Pretty much all the good lines belong to Sawyer.

That is STILL the best line in Lost. There are lots of runner-ups though :D

When Sawyer tells Jack about when he slept with Ana L. right before she was killed and he refers to it as getting "caught in a net".  Then he finds out later from Kate that it was just as it sounded, no innuendo.

Wait a minute, no one mentioned my favorite, and I will likely get it wrong, but it was when Hurley opened up about the money to Charlie and he said "I am worth 3 trillion myself and this baby is made of chocolate lollypops and we are just going to flap our wings and get off this island!

The two following lines were subtle but I thought they were funny.

When Kate complains about having to work in the dress, the mean guy says she can work naked.  Sawyer smiles until Kate glares at him.  The he says "How dare you."  The look on his face cracked me up.

Right before Juliets husband got hit by the bus, he was talking on his cell phone.  He said something like this:

"You are a cold and heartless person and that is why no one likes you.  Talk to you later mom."

I thought this season's funniest line was delivered in this episode by "The Man From Tallahassee" while tied to the pole.  Ben was trying to convince Locke to kill the con man who said:

"bug-eye" was funny, but I'd expect that from Locke Sr., when Hurley said his line it was so out of character and awkward I'm surprised Sawyer didn't think much of it...

Although I'd be distracted if I had to pee badly just after shagging Kate...

Definitely the epsiode where Hurley, Jin, Charlie, and Sawyer got that van running!  :D  I loved that epsiode despite the fact it didn't add much to the story at first glance.  The part where Sawyer was teaching Jin English was priceless. ;D  Heck I loved most of the scenes with Sawyer (and he's not even my fave character).

I think that the funniest exchange ever was Locke and Rousseau's nonchalant meeting in the Black Rock.

          "guys....where are we?"

loves it.... but anything sawyer says is funny...

Not my opinion I was just stating that was how they treated him.

He didn't get to do macho things like hunting, fishing, exploring, digging up hatches or building rafts.

Maybe I should just have said he was left out of the loop because of his size.

It's not exactly a line....

Charlie retching into the copier he was trying to sell.

That was a good little moment. theres a line in that episode that I always loved when that girl ask Charlie if he wants some tea and he says something like "if you want to have sex with me, don't say tea say sex."

I'm borrowing from other posts, but my favorite line was Charlies' comment about not wanting to sit at the kid's table anymore.  I could just relate to the feeling!

Best line of Lost so far....  again, Charlie:

"Guys, where are we?"

I'm rewatching the first season. Hey, gotta feed my addiction for a loooong time.

Hurley, Sayid, et al go looking for batteries from Rousseau. Hurley gets separated from the others, bonds with Rousseau, catches up with the group. Looks at Sayid,

She says, 'Hey'.

Another Hurley from season 1, upon seeing Sawyer in his cobbled together glasses.

"Looks like someone steamrolled Harry Potter, dude"

That is a good one!!

I'm going to watch Season 1 again too this summer and this time I'm going to really pay attention with fun quotes.

These are all good!  Starting next season, there should be a poll/thread for each episode's best lines.  There's always a few each week.  Too bad we didn't do this from the start, it's kinda hard to remember them now.  I usually watch Lost when it's on and I record it and watch it again with my wife after I've checked out this site to see what I missed, but these lines make me want to go back to S1E1 and start over!

That's what I've been doing.....

So far my favorite from Season 1 is the always popular Charlie line: Guys, where are we?

From Season 2, Locke: We're gonna need to watch that again.

I'm only a little way into Season 2, but it's gonna be hard to top that one! Kinda sums things up from a viewer perspective.

Not a very nice quote, but funny:

Hurley's father the first time he sees him in years:
"I guess your mother was right about those candy bars"

This thread got me motivated to look around the web for different quotes from Lost.  Man, I am so bored without a new episode to watch each week...smiling.

I found this one on a web site and it really got my attention because I don't remember the line from the episode:

Speaking to Hurley Reyes - "See you in another life Hurley" [S2E18]
Dave tries to convince Hurley to jump from a high cliff into the ocean and rocks. Just before Dave himself jumps, he says these words.

I need to watch the episode again to double check it, but that's wild that Dave says the exact same thing Desmond said to Jack at the stadium where they were running steps.

Sorry if this has been mentioned before in another thread.

"See you in another life." isn't a funny line, but I think it might be the KEY line in what we've seen so far.

Dave did say this, but why would Hurleys invisible friend make this statement.  Huga had never heard Desmond use this phrase.

Don't let this line get lost here (no pun intended), Dizzy should start a new thread about this line and what it might mean, if anything, to the story.  It'll definitely help feed the alternate reality theories!

Hmm... We don't know if the Dave that Hurley saw was in his imagination or whether it was some kind of Smokey conjuring. If the latter, we have an explanation of sorts as Smokey seems to be able to read people's memories.

Putting Smokey aside, did Dave say, "See you in another life?" or did he say, "See you in another life, brother?". The former is not that uncommon a saying though I admit its not common either. But if there's a "brother" at the end then it's definitely a Desmondism.

Well, it's not a line, but the moment when Hurley attacks, well mostly flops on Sawyer, they get tangled under a tarp, Sawyer almost crawls out and .... an unseen Hurley pulls him back in.

I think the voice over on the DVD said this was Josh Holloway's idea.
