Hurley's the new chief. Apparently, he now has the chance to change the rules. Presumably, he's also going to need to find someone to replace him. What rules would YOU put in place? How would you select someone to replace you? (Jacob looked for flawed people that needed the Island as much as the Island needed them... would you shoot for someone a little less flawed?)
Hurley: It's my job now. What the hell am I supposed to do?
Ben: I think you do what you do best. Take care of people. You can start by helping Desmond get home.
Hurley: But how? People can't leave the island.
Ben: That's how Jacob ran things. Maybe there's another way, a better way.
Hurley: You'll help me?
Ben: I'm sorry?
Hurley: I could use someone, with experience, for a little while. So you'll help me Ben?
Ben: I'd be honored.
Hurley: Cool.

There will be a lot of golf, ping pong, cooking and general fun on the island! :)

A candidate would have to be a scratch golfer?
-
If I were Hurley I would go live in that Temple! That place was sweet :D ;)
-
Actually it's when candidate, Mr Roark, becomes the protector that the island's rules REALLY change.
-
Rule #1: Leave all your baggage in the real world, the island is strange enough
Rule #2: I am usually right
Rule #3: In case you think I'm wrong, I'll listen to what you have to say then direct you to rule #2
I would choose my replacement by how well tehy follow the rules and rock-paper-scissors, best two out of three ;) ;D
-
Rule #1: There will be no numbers with special meanings or implied curses
Rule #2: The island will have its own bakery

I LOVED that scene so much. I just had a feeling it would be Hurley in the end. So glad Ben gets a chance at redemption by staying with him.

1- Put an instant salad bar on the island.
2- Order up a whole new boat load of others to help me
3- Build another statue
4- Turn the light cave into a dance club

Was I the only one waiting for Ben to strangle Hurley with the rope?

I thought something like that might happen... like he'd TRY to kill hurley but end up getting chucked into the source and turn into smokie 2.0.
-
yeah -at one point it seemd to me Ben got a funny look on his face when Hurley was talking to him...and I got a bit worried but in the end he did the right thing
-
My first order of business is to summon the "hurley bird" and demand an explaination
