My take was this:

Someone slits the Doc's throat and throws him overboard.  He washes up on shore, but since his body didn't follow the right heading it arrives in the past.  In other words, the Doc is alive on board, but someone is going to kill him in the future.  Does this make sense?

Makes sense to me.

Does this phrase actually MEAN anything other than a strategy in RISK that doesn't work?

What do you mean doesn't work? I've won more games of RISK taking Australia, fortifying Australia, then conquoring Asia one country at a time.

But, considering this is coming from the writer's of Lost... high chance that Australia is the Key.

Maybe Locke has figured out that he needs to put the fear of God back in Ben. Maybe shoving a grenade in Miles mouth (a live grenade) as punishment for talking to Ben is Locke's way of putting fear in Ben.. especially if Miles is Ben's man and Locke knows it.

As Locke says.. why have rules if there is no consequences. Maybe we will found out in the next episode that Locke devise some "Saw" devise on Ben to shut him up...  the bear trap might put the fear of God in Ben... or the rib spreader.

OMG... he he he.. ohhh... (fans self).. that got me good.

I've always loved Locke from the get go... but "Scary Ben Locke" I'm not too sure about.

He has to be one of the 6 because the world would consider him rescued off the Island. Doesn't matter if he was on the plane or not, they would not exclude him from newspaper reports.

There is no way I can see Claire giving up Aaron. That woman is a mother bear who would kill Jack or Locke if she thought they would harm her baby. But I can't see Jack seeing Kate if she stold the baby either. It's not his personality to see someone who would be the cruel to steal a woman's child. So, whatever happended to set up the scenario must be pretty sever. But I don't have a definitive answer.

But "Ben" was using Christian's voice if you pay attention. Is this really Ben or is this Smokey? I don't think its Ben. I suspected Sayidd worked for Ben because of the Lists... but I don't think its Ben.
