So it's been a long while since I've contributed here, but just had an idea. Not sure if it has been discussed yet on here, but here it goes. Most people have been trying to figure out what the connection is with Jacob and the Losties past encounters with him. We all assumed that they came across Jacob from the start of the series, but what if Jacob used the time travel properties of the show to travel back and alter the past as we know it. With the paradoxical nature of the idea I confuse myself, but take Locke as an example. What's to say he survived the fall without Jacob's help the first time. Jacob then traveled back and was there when it happened. He then touches Locke and says he is sorry it happened. Who is to say Locke's life takes a completely different turn after this interaction. Not sure how it would change things, but just kind of an interesting curve ball I know TPTB like to throw at us. The flashbacks we were seeing of his interactions with the Losties were happening in Jacob's Present essentially, just before his interaction with Ben and Fake Locke. Talk amongst yourselves.

Alright. What if Jacob traveled back to "Touch" our Losties after they had already made it to the island. Playing on the "Red and Blue Line" Idea I read on here a bit ago. Essentially if we assume that time exists on many separate planes, Jacob would be able to alter the Futures of our Losties without affecting the story as we know it so far. I'm trying to not confuse myself here, but it is difficult, haha. Okay. One story of the Losties has ended as we know it. before it could end, however, Jacob traveled back to our "Special" Losties pasts and touched them and set them off on a new path. This is the path we will follow in the new season and it will journey towards our EndGame. Any better, I know when you start talking about the time paradoxes in this show you may only make sense in your own mind...

Well, I am not sure it is that complicated but he touched them to be part of this ending. my thoughts are he touches them to be replacements for the next go around. So my other thougth is that he is Locke's father and well, we had this some other place on the forum, but Jack and Locke assume the roles of Jacob and MN2 as well as the other losties who are "touched" so to speak and perhaps our other losties not touched assume roles as they are destined to be part of the recurring situation.

i see where youre going.. he goes back to "touch " locke to live and save sayid from being hit by a car... but he also pushes James to become Sawyer by giving him a pen to write the letter... and didnt give kate her punishment that would have deferred her from stealing... she kept on the life of crime... ... he touched jack more of a calming nature to tell him to just calm down after his father berated him... Hurley was more of a empathetic buddy buddy touch like... later man...

Essentially I am wondering if we have yet to see the effects of Jacob "touching" the Losties. That things in Season 6 may end up being just a "touch different. See what I did there? I amuse myself.

BR- I don't think Jacob saved Sayid from getting hit by a car I think he got rid of Nadia so that it would invoke the emotions that are propelling him as a person now.
I think that Jacob's "touching" these folks are for multiple reasons. Again I still think Locke is Jacob's son and he had to bring him to "life" so he could fulfill his part in this "game". So basically what I am saying is each is chosen for a reason, that I don't believe have been given to us yet. We have Jin and Sun which we all forget when we recall whom he touched.
I still hold tight that they are going to replace the folks who held these "positions" previously and I also believe that there other individuals whom Jacob has not physically touched but will part of the final chapter/game.
It is like when Eko went into the jungle and started marking the trees that would help build his church. He picked ones that would support the church. So Jacob like any good architect is picking people he believes in the end will support his cause and uphold whatever he need them to do.
I still believe the answer is right in front of us and always has been.

wow what a deep insight... connecgting Jacob's "touches" with Eko choosing the right trees to "support" the church.... maybe not intentional but a really good insight... for all us deep thinkers...

i just re read the origional post and something stood out that makes sense... "Jacob traveled back and was there when it happened. He then touches Locke and says he is sorry it happened. the only ones that jacob touched that did good after the "touch" were Hugo, and Jin and Sun" the others... Jack never allowed the "push" to hapen he always tried to do things on his own... Sayid embraced his torturer nature... Kate kept on the life of crime, along with sawyer" just wondering if that has any connection and / or meaning...

Lockes Life was then confined to the wheel chair working for the paper box company and brought and while he was in rehab he met Abbadon, who was there to help him go on the walkabout. So how does this change Locke's life except to put him on the path to get to the island. I am not sure what it meant by whon's interactions with the Losties is this Jacob? I just think that Jacob was picking people for a reason/purpose to a means to an end. Which will be discovered soon
