ok ive been thnking... and it doesnt make sense how did The Ajirians ( as i call them) get Lockes body in the crate?? wasnt it shipped in a coffin, like Christian? and didnt Ben give it to the Butchers to keep safe? then we see Jack put on the shoes. but then next we see the body we see him fall out of the crate.. which is inconsistant from how Christian was shipped... any thoughts???

when the plane crashed the coffin broke open and Locke's body was thrown somewhere onto the beach or into the jungle.
They found the body. They found a crate. Maybe the crate was a storage container on the plane. They put the body in the crate.

I read your post before, BR, and thought the same thing as jamesl, but now I think I understand what you're saying... if Jacob's rival is who has been taking Christian's, Yemi's, and Alex's form, and now he's taken Locke's form, having Locke's body is inconsistent. Because Christian's body disappeared from the coffin, and Yemi's body disappeared from the plane, when the rival took their form. This is part of the theory that this taking-of-bodies-to-appear-as-them is why the Others have viking burials, burning pyres at sea. So the rival can't take their form.
And yet here's the rival posing as John Locke, and here's Locke's body dumped on the beach...
Maybe this is the loophole that Jacob mentions? Otherwise, why not use Christian to tell Jack to kill Jacob, or Yemi to instruct Eko to do it? Eko followed everything Yemi said, he would have killed Jacob if Yemi told him to. But for some reason, it needed to be Locke, and the two differences we've seen is that 1. Locke's body is present at the same time the rival has taken his form, and 2. Jacob seems to have brought Locke back to life.
I guess these are my thoughts, but I don't think I figured anything out, lol.

Are you sure Yemi's body disappeared from the plane? I just watched those episodes and I didn't get that. I saw Eko go into the plane, take his cross and hold his brother's body. Then they burned the plane. But after that I don't think we ever see inside the plane again.

When Eko goes looking for Yemi, and Sayid, Locke, Desmond, Nikki, and Paolo go to the Pearl station, Locke helps Eko move the boulders from in front of the plane hatch. When Eko goes inside, Yemi's body--which they had burned in the plane--was completely missing. No bones or ashes or anything, it was just gone. |

[Esau] needed Locke to turn the donkey wheel and set off all the time-jumping so that Richard would believe Locke was special (in 1954, and in 2007 when Un-Locke gives Richard the compass to give to time-jumper Locke). So Richard has taken time-jumper Locke's word that Jacob sent him even though Jacob never told Richard anything about John. It's [Esau] (as Christian in the bottom of the well, and through Richard when Un-Locke tells Richard what to tell time-jumper Locke) that tells Locke he "has to die".

I really like this idea, with the exception that Jacob's Rival didn't need Locke to turn the wheel to set off the time-jumping, he needed Locke to leave the island so his body could come back to the island and he could use it. Ben's the one whose wheel-turning fiasco led to the time-skipping... could the Rival have known that Ben wouldn't do it right, that it would skip, causing Locke to create his own self-fulfilling prophesy as Leader of the Others with Richard? .. I never thought about the Rival having to convince Richard, I think you're really onto something with it. |
