its a theory based on theoretical info... but since you asked... here is my "crackpot" theory on why Walt is Abbadon. ...
we can get over the obvious details... male, african american... now throw in a little possibility of time travel... and how the 2 people Abbadon are seen help are Hurley and Locke... who were the 2 people ( not counting Michael) who were close to Walt? Hurley and Locke. Walt is special we know that much and seems to have a great sense of purpose. helping locke out of the ditch getting him where he should be to do the work he "has to do". then you have abbadon driving Locke around and says " i just get people where they are supposed to go" And Walt and Abbadon visit Hurley at Santa Rosa. ok the scene that erked me about this is in the episode "The Life and Death of Jeremy Bentham" Abbadon wheels Locke to the street corner across from a school letting out. Walt walks out with friends... Locke waves Walt comes over... the second before Walt comes into frame Abbadln says "I'll leave you two alone..." then walks away just as Walt shows up. Walt and Locke talk... and Walt walks away ... just as Abbadon walks in... seeming to not want to change what has happneed in any way by meeting his self. long shot ... i think its plausible..

Now my only question to that is why would Walt (Abbadon) help Widmore?

whynot? besides sending the militant team to the island... how bad is widmore really?? most to all of what we know about him is what ben has told us... and even sending the militant team to the island doesnt seem so bad because he did that cuz he knew how hard itd be to extract linus. widmore was screwed out of a good deal. he's the innocent one.

But what about the secondary protocol? Torch the island and everyone on it? Good guy? I dunno.....
I agree all we know about Widmore is what Ben has told us and what we've seen in Desmond's flashbacks. But if I was given a choice on who to side with; I think I'd still pick Ben.

I just watched the episode where he visits Locke in the hospital and it was pretty strange how he said "Next time we see each other, you'll owe me one." Wonder if he meant "see each other" as in Locke and Walt or if he was actually talking about when he takes Locke around to see all the O6. I don't remember him saying anything to that effect when Widmore sent Locke with Abbadon.

I do not think they arethe laws of scinece would now make sense for them to be . Especially since Locke was in present time when he went to visit Walt and Locke never met Abadon in the future. Think about the logic and you will agree after you pay be back in burgers and brews and you are a bit on the tipsy side.

BR Walt was a little boy when he was with Locke at the pit. He was off island. I guess I am dense on what your point it on this. Unless you are saying that Walt will replace Abbadon in the future that he will be the next Abaddon and that I can see but as them being the same person no I do not agree.
If Jacob and MN2 are the folks who choose who will be in those roles in the future well then it would make sense that Kate might end up replacing Mrs. hawkings etc.

okay ... when i have theories in my head i jsut type and maybe i dont get it out how it is in my head but i will lay out my WALT/ Abbadon theory... for starters i DO NOT think that walt will replace Abbadon... i think that Abbadon is future Walt. its not unheard of in the LOST universe for the same person from different times to occupy the same space... perfect example is Miles. and its not unheard of for people to use different names to change their identity... perfect example Locke/ Bentham. what im saying is that growing up being special... Walt, ( whom i think doesnt let out as much as he understands) grows up and learns of the happenings on the island and what everyone is trying to do, and takes advantage of the time travel and when he gets older... shades his identity and becomes Abbadon to assist people to "get to where they need to be".

Thanks for explaining this to me and I still do not agree. I get your point I just don't think this is what happens or happened. But your logic is good
