Walt's significance was never fully explored. He has some sort of talent, something along the lines of when he sees an animal in a book (rare bird or polar bear) and they appear soon after (bird hits window, bear attacks him). I assume he will return to the Island, but what is his power's significance/connection to the Island?

I'm beginning to think he has no power at all
those things were coincidence and were thrown in just to confuse us and lead us down false paths

I think there was a big plan in the beginning with Walt.  I mean the hole second season was pretty much centered around getting him back.  But, I think that story line slowly got dropped and was considered not as important as some others.   I may be wrong and he might play a huge role next season, which I truely hope he does.

I also have some sort of a theory that Walt and Aaron will be very important next season.  As they will become the new Leaders of the island.  AKA Jacob, and Esau..

I think most of us have surrendered ourselves to the fact that Walt's storyline has been dropped due to his (the actor's) aging.  I don't think we will see him again.

If Walt wasn't as important or special anymore, then why would they have him in the Season 3 Finale by John's grave telling him he still had work to do? He obviously is still very special and could have a very important connection to the island. I guess we'll find out next season.

that wasn't Walt
that was "Man #2", "The Man in Black", "Esau", "Fake Locke" or whatever you want to call him
he was continuing to instill a sense of importance, purpose and meaning in Locke so that Locke would eventually go back in time and confidently tell Richard "I'm your leader"

I think Wojodojo may be referring to when Ben shot Locke in Season 3 and Locke fell into the mass grave.  Walt appeared to him and told him he still had work to do.

The guy masquerading as Locke? I'm officially calling him Bocaj.  I don't care if anyone else is on board.  Just know that when I use the name Bocaj, I'm speaking of the Anti-Jacob.  Oh...I may call him that too.

It's official, in my book he is Bocaj and/or AJ.  You've been warned Wink

yeah, but I'm saying that wasn't Walt
Walt never had special powers; he never appeared to anyone, it was just anti-Jacob manipulating everyone, especially Locke
he just wanted to build Locke up so Richard and Ben would think of him as someone special, allowing anti-Jacob to eventually replace Locke and have Richard and Ben follow him without question so he could manipulate them into killing Jacob

JamesL Walt did have powers and though they had these earlier in the series go to ABC.com to watch these what we have on here mobisodes.

They wanted Walt gone for a reason, he had some abilities.  Chances are it was not him but it was a person that Locke would relate to.  As hurley to Charlie as Claire to Christian and so on.

When I re-watched "Three Minutes" I paid more attention to Ms. Klugh asking Michael about any special abilities, and specifically about Walt appearing where he was not supposed to be:

MICHAEL: What? No! I don't -- I wasn't there. He was half way around the world. Why are you asking me all these questions?
MS. KLUGH: Did Walt ever appear in a place he wasn't supposed to be? You say he was half way around the world -- did you see him?

I think this is why people kept seeing Walt when he was supposed to be somewhere else...  Conciously or not he was - for lack of a better word - "projecting".

I think everything they've done with Walt was to confuse us, lead us down wrong trails, red herrings
like the whole Walt - comic book - polar bear thing
at first we all thought Walt "imagined" the polar bear into existence, but then we found it it was all coincidence and the writers were just messing with us;
what Walt's dream about Locke being in danger from men in suits ? just a normal common dream, nothing special, not seeing the future, just a dream; the writers just threw it in there to mess with us;
sorry, but I'm sticking with that until they bring Walt back and rally show us some power

as for Ms. Klugh, maybe she wasn't sure if Walt has powers or not, maybe she conducting an investigation and was thinking if it was trickery and Michael had been there when Walt appeared, then Michael would have "sensed" something was "different", "not right" with Walt because he is his father;
Michael's "feeling" would give her some evidence that it was indeed part of a trick

although I don't remember this episode, so I will have to go back and watch it

hmmm...it really causes confusion when we (I've done it too) state our theories as facts...

I'm going to shrink this cause it's spoilerish, but... Walt's special-ness is most likely going to be explained in season 6
