What if Jacob did the same thing to Ilana that he did to Richard? What if they were both from the Black Rock and one was meant to stay on the island (Richard) and one was meant to stay off the island (Ilana) until he needed them both?
Richard can be the high priest and Iliana the high priestess. Hehehe... Ok...when Iliana sees Richard and asks him what lies in the shadow...do they look like they instantly recognize each other? I know she calls him by a different version of his name...indicating a long span of time. What was the name they called him again?

She called him Ricardos or Ricardus. I think it sounded more like "dos" to me though. So I'd say Ricardos.

Closed Captioning spelled it Ricardus...Usu. CC for scripted shows is provided with an original script, will notice sometimes small phrases changed or single words dropped (at actors discretion usually) but always on par with what is happening in story...learned long ago to watch Lost with the CC turned on.

It's Ricardus - the Latin version of Richard. In Latin the last sound in pronounces doos, not duhs.

To second: Closed Captioning adds a great deal to the Lost experience. It was clearly "Ricardus" therein.
I'm also pretty certain that the woman's name is Ilana, not Iliana. I know an Israeli woman who shares that first name, though I wouldn't say that the Ilana on the show is identifiable w/r/t ethnic or geographic background.
And harvdude: Cantabrigiensis? Quis domem?

Ok am I the only one who thinks that it sounded more like a warning then some sort of taunt or gloat. I mean he wasn't really expressing any sort of emotion as he said "They are coming" (said/coughed out w/e) I am going to watch that scene again but it didn't look like he was too happy or sad they are coming...just a warning..

Might mean the "they" that will finally end the loop are coming...
Maybe those two were sent to the island and couldn't really leave it (I don't mean literally, since we know that at least Jacob goes off island) until a group of others somehow transcend/evolve above those who have come before and break them out of the loop.

yeah, remember in Jughead when Juliette was speaking latin to young Widmore, she called him Ricardus Alpert then too.

I also took it to mean that the '77 crew was about to arrive in the present, which means Faraday's bomb theory didn't work in avoiding the crash of 816.
And what's with Jacob being kicked into the fire?!? He wasn't even completely dead yet, poor guy. OUCH! But I did think that was an interesting move considering Ilana had "Jacob's" cabin set on fire to destroy it. If it had been 'Esau' in the cabin the whole time pretending to be Jacob, that is an interesting choice of ways to dispose of it, since Jacob was being disposed of in a similar way.

I think he meant Jack and co. as many people have said. The last thing we need is another faction being thrown into the mix. I mean, last night's addition of Jacob and "Esau" changed everything. The whole Widmore/Linus thing is now nothing but irrelevant.
I wonder, did he do the survivors the same thing he did to Alpert when he visited them and touched them?

I like to think of myself as a Jack/Desmond blend with a bit of Hurley and a twist of Miles.

I think he means Jack, Kate, Sawyer, Hurley and Jin. We didn't see Jacob touch Juliet or Miles, so they might or might not be coming back after the explosion.
Time for Jack and Sawyer to team up to with Ilana and Bram to kick some fake Locke's rear.
Juliet and Ilana both refered to Richard as Ricardus when they were speaking Latin, but he refers himself as Richard. I take that as he isn't Roman. His present day American accent is troubling. Maybe he can speak any language like Jacob does.

There are some great posts on here about these theories.
One I just read was talking about the Jacob in the statue may not really be Jacob but a look alike meant to take his place for this task. For example, what if Jacob was actually playing Richard, and Richard was actually playing Jacob in the statue to protect him? Of course, it may have been someone else but whoever the Jacob was in the ending scene taunted Ben and practically asked to be stabbed.
His comment in the end, "they are coming", sounded like a warning that the folks outside are coming into the statue. Why would Jacob say that to "blackie" and Ben? I would think that he would just laugh at them and maybe say, "now you are going to get it".
I think Ilana is part of an ancient race of followers of Sobek, Taweret, or whatever the statue is and/or was. If it is a monument to Jacob, then him. Maybe they are like the Templar Knights who protect and serve...

I also think it is Jack, Kate, and the rest of them. I think that the bomb is going to actually send them back to normal time (2008) and that is why Jacob was recruiting them. He knew this was going to happen so he needs them there to help save him.
