Tawaret was a hippo. But had a croc's back, and some time a small croc on its back--which later became Sobek. Those Egyptians couldn't keep their pantheons in order, things changed a lot. Kinda like the plot of Lost.

All I know is it wasn't Anubis, like I've been saying all along.

Are you sure the statue wasn't Anubis? Looks like him...

http://www.pantheon.org/articles/a/anubis.html

Symbol of life...was what the statue was holding, the Ahnk.

And I think "Faux John" is really emulating this guy, Seth: http://www.pantheon.org/articles/s/seth.html
Who was the God of Chaos

Also- info on Horus: http://www.pantheon.org/articles/h/horus.html

Just thinking outloud!!

At the very least, this statue should tell us just how long the island's issues have been around. If we thought seeing that ancient ship in the water meant it goes back a long way, then seeing the Egyptian statue tells us it's a LOT further back than that....

No coincidence that it's holding the symbol of life: The island heals, etc.

It's not Anubis. Let's not start that again.
