I think no matter what, we are going to be disappointed in the ending, nothing they do could possibly live up to what we are expecting, so I say don't bother, make it nice and abstract

they'll probably do an X-Files
end the series with a few unanswered questions and then make a few awful movies

I'm one of those fans who wants all questions answered in the end.  If something like this happens, I will be sadly disappointed.

Me too.  I like all questions to be answered and everything all wrapped up in a neat little package in the end.  If this show is disappearing from my life forever I need some closure, otherwise it's just too hard to bear.

I think we need to reevaluate and possibly adjust our expectations. Is not our enjoyment of Lost defined by the journey more than the destination? Lost is already (IMHO) the best show ever. No final episode imaginable has the potential to change that. I just hope we get taken even higher.

If they did a finale like six feet under that would be my ultimate ending!
but knowing them they are going to fade to black when they all get on the plane and we will never know if they crash again or not. Roll Eyes
or they will close with jacks eye laying in the jungle and we'll never know if it was the first time when they crashed with 815 all over again,or  ajara crash  again or another one.I get mad even thinking about it. If I wanted to leave it up to my imagination and not have questions answered i wouldn't bother watching and just make up my own story in my head.  Undecided Smiley

If they were going to do something like this, which I really hope they don't, I would love to see it end like this. Just as everything is wrapped up in the last episode, and they have kept the best mysteries for last, we hear a voice say something to the effect of, "And if you want to know the final mystery of the island, then follow me." we see everyone turn around, and Locke says, "Oh my god, Jacob. I can't believe that you're actually..." And then the scene stops, goes to black, and we hear a new voice, and the room slowly starts coming into view,

"Wait wait wait wait, Plane crash, a magic healing island, a monster made out of a pillar of smoke, Michael Emerson?? And what did you say this genius project was going to be called?? LOST?!?! Who the hell is going to waste 6 years of their life watching something like that??"

Then all the people in the room stare directly into the camera, and the title card comes up.

Hah! I think it should end on a real downer, then cut to Hurley in his asylum room:
"No way man! That ending sucks! Let's have a scooby doo ending!"
(wobble fade to an earlier point in the story, chase scene with smokey, smokey trips on a root, someone pulls off smokey's mask. "Why it's old Mr. Hanso!". "I would have gotten away with it if it weren't for you damn kids!")

If I don't like the Real ending, I'm coming back here to hear your endings. You can do like 10 different ending that would have been better and it will fill the void. and then I'll have proper closure!  Smiley

I think that it may very well end like The Prisoner did... Total insanity.

That will make me more angry than just closing the show on a black screen like the So-crap-os. You know, I had always heard about The Prisoner, and how awesome of a show it is, and that AMC is doing a reboot mini-series of it, so I figure I would watch the show to know what I'm getting into, and after watching one episode every few days at lunch, it took me close to 3 months to finish watching it, and the fact that none of it made any sense pissed me off to no end. The only reason I'm going to watch the new one, is because whatever they end it with HAS to be better.

that sounds a little like the end of Arrested Development

I thought the end to Angel was pretty terrible, too. Let's not end it with everybody on the island running towards Smokey, cut to black.... lol
