What do people make of the timing at the end of the episode for Ben to be waking up in front of Locke? Anything more than just the way they wanted to tell the story?

My brother thinks Ben was unconscious on the cot because he was shot in the past and that he woke up because Richard healed him. I think he was unconscious just because Sun smacked him in the head with an oar and he woke up just because it's a nice lead in to next week's episode.

I was thinking the same thing
Which extends my theory of how you remember or react to memories in time

What's confusing about that??

I think it was more of a cinematography type thing. It was to tie the two situations together. He was out because he got wacked by an oar.

Agree, Ben's unconsciousness was because he was whacked by an oar, and the timing of his wake-up was simply a good lead-in for next week. Otherwise -- if the Losties' choices in 1977 can cause immediate changes in 2007, it kind of negates the whole "whatever happened, happened" idea the episode went to such lengths to explain.

I wish Faraday was in the middle of Miles and Hurley's time discussion, just to shed some scientific light on the subject.

I don't think he knows either and I think the writers where using those 2 scenes to explain it to us

I think Ben was just unconscious. It looked like Locke was just sitting there waiting for him to wake up.

Yes and Ben was already getting healed when he took of his arm splint. So It was a nice way to end the episode.

I don't think he knows either and I think the writers where using those 2 scenes to explain it to us Farady would have been too serious. That convo was perfect. Beginning with the reference to Back to the Future. Hilarious yet covered the points. Loved Hurley's unanswerable comeback. Wouldn't have been as good with Faraday.

"who says he didnt know him in 2004" that would have been my answer anyway? As it turns out he didnt know but whateva....

I agree with lostfromthestart. Great way to explain to us some of the little questions we had about Lost's version of time travel that didnt directly affect the sotry. But when the question that does directly affect the sotry came up (did Ben know Sayin in 04)... they wouldn't tell us. Thought it was awesome!
