I am joining in the nine bandwagon! I liked that Kate and Juliet both took action! I liked that most of the characters said, "hey, he's just a kid, he is not BEN yet!" I loved the compassion.
I hated passive-aggressive Jack. I understand what he is saying about him taking action and everyone else complaining about it, so I cannot really blame him. However, his refusing to take action is, in its way, taking action. It is a direct consequence of his not helping Benlet that makes the Losties take Benlet to Richard. That is going to lead to Benlet becoming Ben. So Jack did what was needed to make the future happen, because it already happened!
Loved Kate taking Aaron to Claire's mom. Disliked the whole YodaCassidy thing. "you took him." when Kate was afraid Aaron would be taken from her (a very real fear, given the people who have been after them). Kate taking care of Aaron is not the same as Widmore or Ben taking Aaron from her. Kate was friends with Aaron's mother, after all, and was trying to help. And then: Kate: He needed me. Cassidy: you needed him.
So? It was a mutually beneficial relationship. I just wanted to punch Cassidy in the face with her armchair psychobabble.

I don't think she was being an armchair psychiatrist. I think she was playing devils advocate and trying to get Kate out of her cloud of doubtfulness. Yes, there was mutual benefit Aaron had a loving parent and Kate finally had something to love that would love her back unconditionally. In the end Cassidy did help her make the right decision. Which in the long run put her on that plane to help close the deal on the island. So John Locke didn't put her there but the love of Aaron and her care and friendship with Claire drove her back.

8I wanted to give it a 7.5, but I had to round up. pretty good episode, but the kate/aaron stuff is boring to me, sorry... The highlights of the show for me were the conversation between Hurley and Miles, and of course seeing Mr. Alpert take Ben into the temple... wtfs going on in there? Random Thought of the Day: Maybe Richard is Smokey in Human form? And since there are so many biblical references in this show, how about the holy trinity? The father, Jacob. The son, Richard. And the Holy Spirit, Smokey...

Oh my gosh, I'm the only 10. Okay, here's why. Kate's story was incredibly important plot-wise and character-wise. And I decided after this episode that I love Kate's character more now then ever. She is in her late twenties physically, but in some ways, she is like a much younger woman still learning how to live properly. Her love for Aaron was heart-wrenching. And her willingness to put him back in his family was an enormous sacrifice. I have been hoping the little guy would show up again, but last night I was comforted to think he might be set for life. Save him from all the island-madness. And the fact that Kate came back to find Claire - that is a hero's quest. I am cheering for her now more than ever.
I also loved the new faith-filled Jack. No damsel in distress could get him off the topic of "what will the island do." I am as anxious as ever to see what will happen to Ben (whether Hurley or Miles is right) and what will Jack's reaction be when Locke shows up.
The last minute of the show was absolute brilliance. Locke's line "welcome to the land of the living" is now one of my favorite lines in the whole show. And Ben's face. The shock. And Locke's face. The grace.

and youi didn't even MENTION hurley & miles conversation!
i completely agree with you lorie. the only reason I gave it a 9 insted of a 10 is because (1) no big suprise moments and (2) no great easter eggs.

Hurley and Miles were brilliant. If two characters in the dilemma don't understand it, then how are we supposed to?!? The writers were smiling at us and saying, "Keep holding on - the ride's worth it"!

I gave it an 8. There were so many things that I loved. I really enjoyed the Hurley/Miles conversation, for sure. I also like how I can still have theories popping up all over the place in my head about what's going to happen still. I haven't been on here and really discussed theories for a while, so maybe mine have already been debunked, but I like it just the same.
I like musing over Ben and whether he really did have a recollection of all of the survivors. I love noting which passengers are where, wondering what happened to some, etc.
I didn't like the Sawyer/Kate/Jack/Juliet drama, but that is my constant for Lost. My constant annoyance. Except, oddly enough, I did like that Jack told Kate that she never liked him before. That rocked. Go Jack. I like surly and frank Jack. It's kind of cool that who the survivors were is now who they're not. Oh, you tricksy writers...

I gave it an 8 after a lot of thought. it was between an 8 and a 9.
Loved Hurley/Miles. It has been brought up enough.
Really liked the explanations of Aaron and Kate's reason for coming back. They made sense to me. I also liked that it was a human response with a real emotional reason. No smokie Claire visiting in the night. Kate is finally doing the right thing for someone else.
Not sure about the "Ben will not remember this" story line. Feels like a easy way out, but I am waiting to see how the story plays out.
Really liked that the Losties actions made Ben who he is. If Jack just would of operated than Ben's life would of been different. If Kate had stayed out of it, or If Juliet etc..
It just needed some more action for a 10!

Ditto on the score... ditto on the reasons. There, that was easy.
